Agreeable that when there is piracy, there is losses. But if Profit margin is not high, how bad can the losses be? Not that bad, right? Cheers!

Profit margin not high? All the research and development put into producing Vista came from Microsoft's sales of software and services. They won't be selling Vista at a loss, even with this crack out. Who do you think the largest consumers of Microsoft's operating systems are, anyways? I can tell you right off the bat that most copies of Vista are going out to PC manufacturers at bulk prices and that very few consumers will ever purchase Vista out of a box on a store shelf. As long as people keep buying computers, Microsoft will keep turning a profit on its OS.

QUOTE(natakaasd @ Mar 5 2007, 04:30 PM) MS will not have much of a loss. Why? Because they aren't profiting much either. Not many people are Highly Eager to receive Vista as they used to when Windows 95 was introduced. If a large crowd is not expected, surely profit is not high. If profit is not high, how bad the losses be? Cheers! The losses is the time to get back the huge amount spent on R&D for the Vista software. If less people is using Vista, Microsoft will surely need more time to reach breakeven point. Time is money ! |

Even though MS is a large co-operation and they might not mind spending money on R&D for Vista, it is still consider a loss for them.Anyhow, as long as MS releases something new, its products tends to get exploited/hacked. |

MS probally foresaw this and include the loss from this in their product overheads, hence the super expensive price.

I think if u get the vista now u can crack n use in the future. Perhaps they will have some autoupdate to solve it. I heard tat in vista, MS did something like trojan to let the MS ppl check whether u r using the ori version or not ori version. Is it true? |

Cheers! when there's piracy, there's not necessarily losses. in MS's case, it's just lesser profit.but here's the thing - piracy actually helps Microsoft propagate the market. |

Yeap, earn less... wait not earning less, their profits still increases. We should put it in this way "They did not earned what they supposed to get from that portion"but here's the thing - piracy actually helps Microsoft propagate the market. |
