There are 2 kinds of deductions, relief and rebate, don't get them mixed up. From a high level it is,

Take your gross income
Minus your reliefs
==> You get your net taxable income
From net taxable income calculate gross tax amount that need to get paid
Minus your rebates
==> You get your net tax amount that needs to be paid

Waaah so nice. I stuck so long in SG still living a pauper life, can only BMW (Bus MRT Walk) everywhere, once in a while take grab if low demand time and sit in the back close eyes pretend I am being chaffeured around in my personal car.

Paying ~$100 to transfer $50,000 safely seems a decent price to pay for peace of mind. Carrying on person highly unlikely you will have any issues, but if you really unlucky then how mang. Example if you cross border liao kena whisked immediately to hotel for 2 wks SHN, then what, 50k keep in hotel room for those 2 weeks? Even if you have in room safe there's a risk of it getting stolen.

To claim Parent Relief ... for YA 2020, you must satisfy all the conditions below:

The dependant was living in your household in Singapore* in 2019.
If the dependant lived in a separate household in Singapore, you must have incurred $2,000 or more in supporting him/her in 2019.

The dependant was 55 years of age or above in 2019.

The dependant did not have an annual income* exceeding $4,000 in 2019.

*"Living in Singapore" means that the dependant was living in Singapore permanently, except for temporary absences (e.g. short overseas vacation) in 2019. Foreign dependants will generally be regarded as living in Singapore if he/she stayed in Singapore for a period of at least 8 months in 2019.

Probably no discussion cos the pace of reopening border news is really slow 😂 it’s been months liao and the only good news we have is maybe sometime soon there will be green lane and balik kampung once every 3 mths, no timeline no details, for all you know it requires us to cucuk hidung twice every crossing.

The ICA website seems to imply that the parent must be in Singapore on 30-days white card then only can apply for LTVP. Wondering if we can apply for LTVP for them while they are still in Malaysia (to take advantage of upcoming RGR / PCA on 10 Aug.

Assuming SG side approve (no idea approval chance), means Malaysia side can come in, then pay $2000 for 14-day SHN in hotel + $xxx for Swab ... right?
