Based on latest 2018 employment data. Average salary for local grad is SGD 3.7k, or 4.1k (if you’re in IT)

Need to qualify this a bit hor. These 3.7k starting salaries are typically limited to the "big three" local unis (NUS, NTU, SMU ... and nowadays I guess SUSS). Grads from other local unis or colleges, or from foreign ones, are generally lower.

Yeap and i still see ppl still claiming prepaid cheaper than postpaid   rclxm9.gif  icon_idea.gif

Prepaid cheaper cos of CIS ba.

My StarHub plan now is around s$44/month for 500mins talktime 500sms 5gb data, 21mths contract pay s$0 for Huawei p20 pro. That's s$924 for 21 mths of usage plus a flagship phone, don't see how prepaid can be cheaper.

yes current floating rate is 3.01
im paying that zero rate to exchange at midpoint.
how can u get RM without spread in between ??

What 55665566 means is that the buy myr sell sgd rate in SG is still 3.01, so there's no reason to bother exchanging at the same rate with you.

I see. I’ve personally never heard of one-day approvals though.
Times have changed. For those of us who came over many years ago, 1-3 days EP approvals was the norm, only once in a blue moon some poor chap will get 1-2wks delayed approval.

Based on my experience 5 years ago, under EP there are 3 sub-types: Q1, P2 & P1. Only Q1 holders required to perform medical check up, P1 & P2 can be exempted. Not sure about situation now.
*
Nowadays no more q1 p2 p1 split. Or maybe internally at MOM still got, but in any case publicly no more split liao, EP is EP.

Hi I have some urgent matter to ask. I’m staying in my relatives house while working in Singapore. To open a bank account they need a tenancy agreement for that but I only have the registered tenants online. This isn’t enough supports for that. Do I have to do the TA myself or any other way to solve it? Thanks.

Which bank? Last time I opened DBS account I vaguely recall only needing to show IC, Passport and copy of the EP.

I know my questions are long
Most of us don't bother answering you because after going through life we realize that planning excessively far ahead is useless because life throws you tons of curveballs.

Like for me when I first started working I bought a Savvy and told myself OK based on my projected earnings growth I will sell the Savvy 5 years from now and buy a Mazda Rx8.

Guess what, 12 years after entering workforce my salary still only sgd5k a month and can't even afford car anymore.

This is done in consideration of PR application down the road.
do you think i should go for the SG marriage registration at this stage, or its unnecessary? I heard being a malaysian chinese, my approval rate is on the high side, if so, this ROM seemed unnecessary to me(until i get my PR).
It's more on your wife's immigration status I guess. If you don't register your marriage here I'm not sure if you can apply for any sort of dependent or LTVP pass for her, no? (I'm just guessing cos I'm too lazy to google it).

Any of you experts in buying SG - JB train tickets?
a. Is the easybook website basically the best place to buy online?
b. When and what time do the tickets open up for sale? Seems to be maybe 8am, 30days in advance?

True la. Malaysia throw whole bag of garbage in front of your shop.
But still didn’t expect to see so much cigarette butts on floor in sg.

standard la, I had the same sh*t in bedok last time. Nice seats to chill out at void deck but KNN literally hundreds of cig butts on the ground.

SG is clean not because the population is clean, but because of the armies of FW's employed to clean up every day / week.

BTW open question to all, are PR in Singapore considered as Foreigners or Citizens?

QUOTE(jitshiong @ Jul 5 2019, 09:27 AM)
Foreigners....

The most accurate answer, in SG context is ... neither. SG classifies the populace as Foreigners, PR's, and Citizens. For example, from employment of foreign manpower act: ""foreigner” means any person who is not a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore"

So when government announces stuff and says it is for "citizens," you (as a PR) are not included. Likewise when they say "foreigners," they normally mean tourists, work pass holders, LTVP holders, etc ... you (as a PR) also not included biggrin.gif

Hi, i work in KL for 10 months and going to SG for new work next week. Do I have to declare anything to LHDN?
The right way is to get your company issue borang CP21, then go LHDN office to gaudim your 2019 tax clearance and temp close your file. Then no need to worry about Malaysia tax at all until u decide to quit singapore and go back.

The lazy ppl way which lots of ppl do (including me) is to do nothing. Next year do your Malaysia borang BE efiling as usual and claim back your excess PCB. 2021 onwards declare 0 income every year*.

* You still need to declare all those non employment income derived in MY like rental.

Hi all, just received an offer of permanent role for SGD 4k + AWS for an IT.
Tempted to take it even though its below my expectation as i still gain a slight increase in terms of monetary due to the currency exchange.
Anyone can advise on the how the offer fits in terms of the general work force in singapore?

Such vague question how to advise? You think we all psychic can read your mind? How many years exp? IT doing what? IT helpdesk?
Anyway bolded part, are you earning like rm10k, then now getting offered sgd 4k (i.e. rm12k)? If anything around that then don't bother coming.

By the way, let's say I wanted go convert Singapore International license and I afraid my international license will be not valid once my PR revoke. Worst case scenario, I needed to retake license in Malaysia. There will be alot cost over RM 2k.

SG license can convert back to MY one.

If you renounce PR then yes.
