LinkZ you may need to prepay $4k first, but once you arrive in SG together and reach SHN hotel, explain to the check in staff to share room, then can apply to MOM/ICA/whoever to refund the excess $1400. Note that if you really suay you might get assigned value hotel or ibis styles or some other cui 15sqm room, if so you’ll have to balance that $1400 vs your sanity lol. [LinkZ] liked this post

QUOTE(aba9785 @ Feb 3 2021, 01:07 PM) Wow. Thanks for the information. Scroll back a few (or many) pages and see ba, I recall there was some discussion that ICA allow photocopy submission of docs now by signing some extra document/declaration.Still thinking how to get them to post the document to me... quite hard also. |

QUOTE(LinkZ @ Feb 6 2021, 03:30 AM) Any hacks to get Swissotel? Im now extremely worried after watching people getting bad and small hotels on youtube As far as I can tell from following those FB groups, none, it’s totally up to your luck. Or if you have serious* medical conditions requiring particular type of room.* I remember ICA or some other agency posted somewhere that they won’t consider allergies or claustrophobia all those sort of things for special arrangements. QUOTE(garlicpesto @ Mar 30 2021, 03:49 AM) from what i hear if unemployed Malaysian returning home can request for quarantine fee waiver with KKM.. Does SG have something similar in nature for same reason? Yes, there is mechanism for asking for SHN payment waiver. But I’m not sure how it works. Google shows this form https://form.gov.sg/#!/5ee5e131e5e49200119cacba that says you need an ICA officer to recommend you for waiver, but casual google doesn’t seem to have the exact process. This post has been edited by deodorant: Mar 31 2021, 05:13 PM |

QUOTE(Sumofwhich @ May 7 2021, 04:48 PM) Even if can get EP approved, the entry approval is difficult + long queue cos of covid. So a company that wants to hire foreigners from offshore can literally need to wait up to 6 mths (depending on country) for him/her to come … most companies won’t want to wait that long except in exceptional situations. This post has been edited by deodorant: May 8 2021, 06:32 PM Sumofwhich liked this post

QUOTE(ITzai @ Jun 5 2021, 11:20 AM) This year I got 3.2 months bonus but a pathetic 3.9% increment for a so called good personal performance year. Last year is 1.8 months bonus and 2.9% increment. “Pathetic” relative to what? Your own expectation? Cos who knows that is already good for your industry which means you move where also will have the same problem. WallChecker liked this post

QUOTE(Sumofwhich @ Jul 21 2021, 05:48 PM) 4 long months As in, already have EP (or some other long term residency) but SG side still hasn't given you entry approval for 4 months (and counting)? Damn that sucks. |

QUOTE(XiuKeong @ Aug 23 2021, 03:31 PM) Was listening to the Q&A session between US VP and PM Lee. It’s not that bad actually. Malaysia started late but ramped up a lot. 1 mth ago 17% fully jabbed, now 41%, they should be around 70-80+% mark by end of the year. The question for CNY2022 then is whether the number of cases still tens of thousands. If under 2-3k a day it could be good news for travel (Germany is 5-8k a day now and we have quarantine free travel both ways). It looks like chances traveling back to MY still got a long way to go given the vaccination rate in MY is still low. UBS Prices & Earnings report has excluded SG for many years now but previously they had (relative) price levels as SG = 62.9 and KL = 28.2.
This implies that sgd4000 in SG has roughly the same purchasing power as myr5600 in KL. Anecdotally for me having made an early-mid career switch from KL to SG certainly in isolation, myr7500 in KL would give me a more comfortable life than sgd4000 here. |
