whoah 3 years exp get 8.5k salary. damn high flyer. no wonder singapore dun dare give u so much. thats why low ball you 5k nia.
9k to 5k is a huge cut man. you might earn more but net savings probably not a huge gap. assuming frugal living both in KL and Sg KL saving abt 5k to 6k (rmb to include epf since u lose out when moving over) (so total package is 8.5k+500+ employer epf abt 900 = 9.9k less rent 700, less car & petrol 1000 less others 2000) SG saving abt 3k. (5k, less rent 700 less others 1300) SG is more, but you ask yourself whether you want it lor. |

I recently discovered that for froeigners its possible to get a tax deduction if we subscribe to a voluntary "supplementary retirement scheme" ie SRS.
https://www.iras.gov.sg/irashome/Schemes/In...t-Scheme--SRS-/ May not be relevant for the peeps here who have CPF, but for a foreigner like myself i can get a deduction similar to PR and Sg citizens! And we have greater control over the use of funds in the SRS. |

QUOTE(kai91 @ Aug 8 2018, 02:14 PM) my two employers (current and ex) actually give me a cpf allowance, ie the employer cpf is given to me as additional cash. so the past few years i had no motivation to get PR.downside? its taxable. and my current one dont give cpf on bonuses. only on your base salary x 17% (capped at sgd1020) |

QUOTE(hwachong @ Sep 3 2018, 05:09 PM) Is there a EP quota for companies? My company wanted to counter offer me in SG, but mentioned that they are lack of EP QUOTE(aussiebum @ Sep 3 2018, 05:19 PM) Not an actual "quota" but more of your hiring practices. If you co historically been hiring foreigners,MoM thinks you are unfairly prejudicial against locals, hence they will withhold approving your EP applications for your candidates. |

QUOTE(oldbirdsong @ Sep 4 2018, 09:53 AM) I think it depends on company to company, I worked for very big foreign MNCs before (>3000 staff in SG) and all FTs are holding EPs and only <30% are locals. mnc somehow manage to convince MoM that locals got no suitablr experience lor... or maybe they already somehow threaten gov, let us hire who we want or we put or HQ elsewhere. |

QUOTE(Sglang123 @ Oct 10 2018, 08:40 PM) as a fresh graduate and quit the job after working 1 week in the company. reason is i felt like getting bullied by the manager, throwing every work to me. 4pm passed up 80+ invoices ask me to key in, no key in finish cannot leave. on first day they ask me to issue a cheque, i printed out upsidedown and told her i printed out wrong.. she direct tell me "if u dont think this job not suitable for u, u can just leave". so i left the company. no OT pay. they replace OT pay to OT meal + taxi fare but only can claim if u work until 9PM. what do you think? QUOTE(Sglang123 @ Oct 10 2018, 08:41 PM) i tot u damn eager to work in sg de. what happen? |

QUOTE(Sglang123 @ Oct 10 2018, 11:17 PM) manager love to bully me.. the department only im the 1 youngest + new comer.. unfortunately the work culture is not that great, and when ur new, u are expected to put in the extra effort to catch up.9-6 job but almost everyday 6.30-7pm leave office is normal in sg?? once u build up ur personal credibility and competence, ur boss will disturb u less if u leave on time. |

QUOTE(dororo @ Oct 13 2018, 06:16 PM) My GF got an offer from Singapore recently. She has only 6 years of experience. a. what happens to her after 1 year?New Offer: Role: Lead Business Analyst Salary: 6.5k SGD and ~2 months bonus Pros: Lead title, good for next career progression (although the actual work might still be one man show). Lower income tax. Cons: No CPF. Fixed term 1 year. Current employment: Role: ERP Specialist Salary: 10K MYR (still a lot potential to grow according to her) and 2 months bonus Pros: 16% Employer EPF contribution. 20 days leave. Stock options. Permanent role. Cons: 50 hours/week due to the amount of work. Higher income tax. She is from north Malaysia, pay a room rental in KL @ RM600/month. Is it worth for 30 years old person to take that Singapore offer? b. what kind of company? which company the branding better? |

QUOTE(dororo @ Oct 14 2018, 09:11 AM) She said since this is just 1 year contract, and it can be used a stepping stone to other company in SG or renewing contract or back to Malaysia. hmm, for a 1 year contract role, that 35% paycut seems a bit too much...Both companies are MNC. The offer from Singapore is from Allianz, insurance company. So is it worth to go? from MY to SG, should the offer be 1-1 ? |
