What is mentally breaking you? Tell me...

Yup i plan to save at least SGD300k if possible in my lifetime here in SG.

Then again need to hear from you, what are the challenges that drive you nuts..

Do you do investments? To try to increase your savings?
*
haha dun listen to me la, i am just ranting. im just a special snowflake with sensitive emotions, and that should not scare you away.

most of my friends actually love it here and are staying for good.

Actually I dont plan to stay in SG permanently, why live like a normal citizen in singapore when you can live comfortably in malaysia with the amount of savings brought back and converted...

Why people want to settle down in Singapore?
*
most ppl change their mind after coming to singapore. its safe, its advanced, things are efficient, its rich, things work well, education is "good" too. if u want a life of the good things, its not bad. travel to nice countries like jap or aussie is easy peasy, and affordable for singkies. in some cases, its even cheaper to eat jap food in japan than in singapore!

99% of my friends are staying, and i am happy for them. they have a reasonable career, bought a condo, maybe might get a car... so, actually, its not bad. i totally understand if u choose the efficiency and safety of SG, to the chaos of KL/PJ.

Yea, I have friends that came over for few months but still getting homesick because they lived too comfortably back in MY with the family. They kept giving reason that SG is lifeless at night, SG people very angst.

in my experience, its a car problem. once they got car, problem solved.

Haha cos many of us in that chat know each other for like coming to 10 years so we share a lot of personal information. So newcomers need to meet up in person by a certain time so at least can vet that it's not a serial killer stalking our kids 🤣
*
yea thats fine. it just so happens im so far away in MBC that no one at that time met me xD. 🤣🤣

Lol guys. Need to rephrase.
It’s ‘one of the top’ French business schools, so not INSEAD, and not an MBA either as I was only 24/25 when I did the Masters degree.

Would have been impossible to enter INSEAD with their almost-perfect GMAT requirement and with the hotel management degree that I was holding back then from good old Taylor’s uni haha...

But yeah looking back, it’s been quite a nice journey...
Edit: Not sure if this made any difference in my PR outcome, I actually first came to Singapore in 2014 to do an internship as a waiter in a hotel (because of my hotel management degree) on a work permit but I didn’t really liked SG back then, so I left even before the 6-month contract was due

Not from HR but I happen to know the insights  brows.gif

They get most of the basic necessities like relocate, housing, education, transport, phone, insurance.. I think this is more than us FT already

The housing allowance we talking is here is 3~5k. Not 700 sgd for you to rent a room  sweat.gif

and the insurance is for whole family. For FT like us, the company will only get you insurance only if you hold a WP because it is mandatory

Correction: They call themself expat, expatriate .. not FT

these days only C suites and HOD expats get such benefits.

Vice versa, if moving back from SG to KL then? I shall expect 1:3 ? 😂

1 to 3 is super rare. realisticly, in my field, im looking for jobs in KL/PJ at abt 1:1.8/2.

pay currently abt s$90k (7.5kpm), hunting for rm160k (13kpm) to rm180k (15kpm) excluding bonuses. seems quite possible from the jobs out in the market.

The most accurate answer, in SG context is ... neither. SG classifies the populace as Foreigners, PR's, and Citizens. For example, from employment of foreign manpower act: ""foreigner” means any person who is not a citizen or permanent resident of Singapore"

So when government announces stuff and says it is for "citizens," you (as a PR) are not included. Likewise when they say "foreigners," they normally mean tourists, work pass holders, LTVP holders, etc ... you (as a PR) also not included biggrin.gif
*
so PR is people in limbo/purgatory. 🤣🤣🤣

Thought this might be relevant. I went and check on the Voluntary Tax Disclosure Sxheme from LHDN. Good to clarify that foreign employment income is exempt from Malysian tax.
