Hmm but when I look at the net take home salary, the RM pay looks pretty sad.
Net income after tax & EPF*
SGD: 5,200
MYR: 6,169
Currently in Msia, I have budgeted RM3,700 of monthly expenses. Taking the net income above, my excess for savings would be only RM2,469.
For the SG scenario, say I spend monthly about SGD2,000 monthly on accommodation (SGD800), food (SGD500), Transport (SGD100), phone (SGD100) and misc expenses (SGD500) plus about SGD700 of fixed expenses back in Malaysia, I would still have a net of SGD 2,500.
I understand that in Malaysia, there's the EPF portion that I do not see in my monthly net income, which comes to about RM2,000. This brings actual savings to about RM4,500. But cashflow wise, I am stuck with the RM2,469 monthly.
I actually prefer to stay in KL with my family, but looking at the SGD offer, it's hard to reject.
Role wise, by theory, the middle office role is a step up from the back office role in KL and with good working hours. But the role in KL is to transform a messed up department and possible long working hours (12-13hrs) with no OT, but I believe opportunity lies where there are shits to clean up
foreign bank ah? might end up as my colleague Net income after tax & EPF*
