hi all. just want to know whether this set up is balance or not. price are from czone.  mainly use for trading stocks/futures, facebook and maybe dota 2 back if i have time.. if it is too overkill, can suggest me to downgrade so can save a few bucks. thanks!
RYZEN 5 9600x 1149
ASROCK B850I LIGHTNING WIFI 1099
TRINDENT Z5 NEO 16gb x2 509
ASUS RTX 4060 8GB PROART OC 1649
SAMSUNG 990 PRO 1TB 599
corsair RME (5.0) 750w 529
LANCOOL 216 RGB ATX BLACK 459
thermalright PEERLESS ASSASSIN BLK /  179

total RM6172.

Is there a reason why you pick ITX motherboard? Asrock B850 Pro-A will save you RM150.

RTX 4060 "8GB" is already bad and you are picking very expensive one. You gonna play DOTA 2 only. Just get cheaper one like Colorful RTX 4060 NB at RM1419.

Samsung 990 Pro is overpriced SSD. Kingston KC3000 will get the job done for significantly less money.

WD Black is overpriced as well. You can buy GPU from Shopee or Lazada or other shops.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to build a whole new gaming PC and I'm currently very overwhelmed by all the changes that have occurred over the past 4 years since I last got one built.

[Budget] RM8,000 - RM9,000 (Max of RM9K)

[Purpose] Purely and fully for gaming and basic browsing

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor LG Ultragear 27GP850, mouse, keyboard

[Monitor resolution] 1440p

[Games & softwares that use frequently] AAA Gaming

[Personal preferences]
1. Prefer AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU but open to suggestions
2. Big case with good airflow and easy to access cables if i want to change stuff.
3. Temperatures are important. My room can get quite stuffy and I don't want to have high temp issues...
4. I don’t care about RGB or appearances at all. Don’t need them so if can reduce cost for non-rgb, prefer those.
5. Would like to future proof as much of the major difficult to change components such as MOBO and PSU as possible.

[Location] Klang (any reliable and trustworthy shops/builders in Klang that anyone can recommend?)

I don't have the confidence to build it myself yet so I'm considering either getting a prebuilt/custom built one with Idealtech or try to find someone who can assist to build it.

Still doing some research on the better option between 5070 TI or 5080 (currently using 3080). I want to be able to play almost all games on the highest or second highest setting without having to worry about temps/fps etc and tweaking many settings.

Also, I do not overclock and have never dabbled seriously in undervolting etc. I generally use as is.

Would appreciate any help on the best possible parts within the budget for CPU, PSU, case, MOBO, GPU within the budget. Thanks!
*
Try looking for these. I think there is Dotatech at Setia Alam.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - 1768 (Viewnet)
Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE - 169 (Shopee)
Gigabyte B850 Eagle Wifi - 999
Acer Predator Pallas II 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit - 449 (Shopee)
Palit RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Pro - 4099
Kingston KC3000 1TB - 389
FSP Hydro GT Pro 1000W - 649
Lian Li Lancool 216 - 459

9800X3D is RM2299 (MSRP) if you wanna max out the CPU.

FINAL TOTAL PRICE: RM9234.00

Was quoted the above from an idealtech guy. Its a little higher than I'd like given the cheaper Mobo in their build and I haven't included a separate SDD/HDD...
*
Yeah, Idealtech charges service fees upfront. Thats why their prices are high.

RAM is questionable. Did not show what is the timings. I would scream at them die die also want CL30.

SSD not something to shout about as well.

PSU has no review. Another questionable one...

Also, ignore 5070. Look for 5070 Ti instead since it has 16GB. More future proof since you want 5+ years.

RM10k with what you want? Nope

Ryzen 7 9800X3D - 2299
Zotac RTX 5080 Solid - RM5449

That leaves about RM2200 for the rest of the parts. You guess.

Maybe 11k...

Change that potential backdoor Giga mobo with MSI B850 Gaming Plus Wifi for same price.

For 5080 i think no longer need bundle but still has RM 200 scalper fee, for 9800x3d I think still got global shortage but AMD says supply is getting better. Go with 7800x3d if cannot wait.
*
What backdoor in 2024-2025? If Viewnet got stock, sure. Also, CPU bundle is required with motherboard.

You wouldnt know what they wont tell you until someone finds out. Also there are many other shops that sell X3D CPU, go with the ones that combo with that MSI mobo (it also has better VRMS than that Giga so its a 2 for 1 win).
*
Mr Overreacting. Nvidia released GPU killing and bad drivers. AMD did the same. Intel isn't safe either. And they repeat the mistakes. All 3 also got security issues over and over again. So you are fine with multiple security issues but one time from Gigabyte? Oh, MSI has secure boot security bug since 2021 before as well.

Tell me if you can find a better price list.

Anything but Gigafail, and I aint the only one to say that. This isnt a hill you need to die on bro.

Other brands also screws up. All brands also got bad batches of hardware too. I've seen it.

Asus

MSI:

You already know Asrock is screwing up X3D CPU as of now.

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Apr 27 2025, 10:16 AM)
Giga has particularly BOTH software & hardware facepalm level of failures. From Mobo bios holes to PSU exploding to GPU with fail cooling and now melting thermal grease. Also certain markets have warranty terms redacted that inc products they ady sold (for Giga owners pls do check if your affected, you may need to do this over the years or prior to RMA if your still covered or not).

For those who diedie want to remain loyal be my guest.
*
I have Asus Z790-F Gaming Wifi II, MSI B660M Mortar, Gigabyte Z690i Aorus Plus D4 and Asrock RX 9070 XT Steel Legend. Manufacturers will fix their crap. Especially when it goes viral. Its the matter if you want to give them a chance or not. No such thing as loyalty. Good pricing is always preferred if possible.

This is becoming off topic.

QUOTE(whippersnapper @ Apr 29 2025, 09:53 PM)
Hi, looking for rig suggestion for 1440p gaming, budget RM5-5.5k. No need monitor. I'm still considering whether to connect directly to my 4k60Hz TV in living room or put in study room and use 24" 1080p monitor I already have, and wireless stream over to TV when I want big screen.

Main purpose is to enable me to play games at high visual quality, want to try games like The Witcher 3, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Baldur's Gate 3, FF7 Remake, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and have them look good.

Not in a hurry to build it, want to have an idea first. If something good coming out soon I can maybe wait.

Preference is AMD CPU and MOBO (better upgradability; also a bit wary of Intel after hearing about the instability issues with 13 & 14 gen CPU). Need wifi capability.

edit to update: aesthetics-wise, I don't care about RGB lighting, something not flashy would do (but if RGB is cheaper I won't mind haha). For the case, if can have dust filters and good airflow should be good for me.
*
5.5k budget want 1440p or 4k high settings. Good luck with that. And you will be getting lower quality parts.

Ryzen 5 7500F - 588
Asus B650M-AYW Wifi - 699
Acer Predator Pallas II 32GB DDR5-6000 kit - 449 (Shopee)
Asus RTX 5060 Ti 16GB Dual (DO NOT BUY 8GB VERSION) - 2099
Kingston KC3000 1TB - 389
FSP Vita GM 1000W - 599
Lian Li Lancool 216 case - 429 (Shopee)

RM5252 total (Mostly Viewnet prices)

Optional:
MSI B850 Gaming wifi (for better upgrade options) - 999

PSU with room for stronger graphic card just in case you question the stutterfest at 4k resolution.

That mobo its looks can be deceiving, as it seems like it has a big VRM heatsink like typical AM5 boards but upon closer inspection as done by our own forumer review ( https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5507869/+0& ) that 'heatsink' is just a small piece top by a plastic cover instead. Plastic is thermally poor so its function is merely for looks and its doubtful can even handle a 7500F at PBO max.

For that OP budget imho its really not possible to get a decent AM5 gaming build even for 1080P. I will prolly give an alternative decent 1440P rig for the money but wont fulfill OP request. Something like

i7 12400F (future can upgrade to 14700)
MSI B760M-A Wifi DDR4
2x 8GB 3200 DDR4 (future can add 2x sticks for total 32GB)
Push budget for 5070
(everything else same as above)
*
7500F should be fine but he has to throw away cpu upgrade options. Still got RM300 room. Enough budget for MSI B850 Gaming Wifi.

I wouldn't go for 5070 because he has 4k resolution. Should be 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT. Still cannot guarantee smooth experience at 4k high settings.

Thanks TristanX and babylon52281 for the rig suggestions!
Sorry, I wasn't specific enough about the resolution. I know budget of RM5.5k is laughably low for 4K gaming, that's why I ask for 1440p, planning to either drop the TV resolution when using as monitor, or run the games at 2K and let scaling handle the display at 4K. For TV to couch distance in living room, I think should be acceptable?

Looks like I was still naive about GPU pricing vs capability though sweat.gif Curious what is a comfortable budget range for 1440p gaming in your opinion? (want to see how far off I am and whether I would be able to stomach the difference)
*
Well. When there is no competition for the chipmaker. Prices goes up. Currently TSMC is the only fab making it for most of the companies.

I would advise getting at least 16GB cards because you might wanna play around with 4k. 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT. That will be RM1.5-2k more. I also advise at least Ryzen 7 7700 for your CPU as well. 4k high settings will need RTX 5090. Its nuts developers pushing graphics more than current cards can handle.
