Hi everyone, I'm looking to build a whole new gaming PC and I'm currently very overwhelmed by all the changes that have occurred over the past 4 years since I last got one built.

[Budget] RM8,000 - RM9,000 (Max of RM9K)

[Purpose] Purely and fully for gaming and basic browsing

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor LG Ultragear 27GP850, mouse, keyboard

[Monitor resolution] 1440p

[Games & softwares that use frequently] AAA Gaming

[Personal preferences]
1. Prefer AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU but open to suggestions
2. Big case with good airflow and easy to access cables if i want to change stuff.
3. Temperatures are important. My room can get quite stuffy and I don't want to have high temp issues...
4. I don’t care about RGB or appearances at all. Don’t need them so if can reduce cost for non-rgb, prefer those.
5. Would like to future proof as much of the major difficult to change components such as MOBO and PSU as possible.

I don't have the confidence to build it myself yet so I'm considering either getting a prebuilt/custom built one with Idealtech or try to find someone who can assist to build it.

Still doing some research on the better option between 5070 TI or 5080 (currently using 3080). I want to be able to play almost all games on the highest or second highest setting without having to worry about temps/fps etc and tweaking many settings.

Also, I do not overclock and have never dabbled seriously in undervolting etc. I generally use as is.

Would appreciate any help on the best possible parts within the budget for CPU, PSU, case, MOBO, GPU within the budget. Thanks!

For 5080 i think no longer need bundle but still has RM 200 scalper fee, for 9800x3d I think still got global shortage but AMD says supply is getting better. Go with 7800x3d if cannot wait.

You wouldnt know what they wont tell you until someone finds out. Also there are many other shops that sell X3D CPU, go with the ones that combo with that MSI mobo (it also has better VRMS than that Giga so its a 2 for 1 win).

Giga has particularly BOTH software & hardware facepalm level of failures. From Mobo bios holes to PSU exploding to GPU with fail cooling and now melting thermal grease. Also certain markets have warranty terms redacted that inc products they ady sold (for Giga owners pls do check if your affected, you may need to do this over the years or prior to RMA if your still covered or not).

Hi, looking for rig suggestion for 1440p gaming, budget RM5-5.5k. No need monitor. I'm still considering whether to connect directly to my 4k60Hz TV in living room or put in study room and use 24" 1080p monitor I already have, and wireless stream over to TV when I want big screen.

Main purpose is to enable me to play games at high visual quality, want to try games like The Witcher 3, Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Baldur's Gate 3, FF7 Remake, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and have them look good.

Not in a hurry to build it, want to have an idea first. If something good coming out soon I can maybe wait.

Preference is AMD CPU and MOBO (better upgradability; also a bit wary of Intel after hearing about the instability issues with 13 & 14 gen CPU). Need wifi capability.

edit to update: aesthetics-wise, I don't care about RGB lighting, something not flashy would do (but if RGB is cheaper I won't mind haha). For the case, if can have dust filters and good airflow should be good for me.

That mobo its looks can be deceiving, as it seems like it has a big VRM heatsink like typical AM5 boards but upon closer inspection as done by our own forumer review ( https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5507869/+0& ) that 'heatsink' is just a small piece top by a plastic cover instead. Plastic is thermally poor so its function is merely for looks and its doubtful can even handle a 7500F at PBO max.

For that OP budget imho its really not possible to get a decent AM5 gaming build even for 1080P. I will prolly give an alternative decent 1440P rig for the money but wont fulfill OP request. Something like

i7 12400F (future can upgrade to 14700)
MSI B760M-A Wifi DDR4
2x 8GB 3200 DDR4 (future can add 2x sticks for total 32GB)
Push budget for 5070
(everything else same as above)

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough about the resolution. I know budget of RM5.5k is laughably low for 4K gaming, that's why I ask for 1440p, planning to either drop the TV resolution when using as monitor, or run the games at 2K and let scaling handle the display at 4K. For TV to couch distance in living room, I think should be acceptable?

Looks like I was still naive about GPU pricing vs capability though Curious what is a comfortable budget range for 1440p gaming in your opinion? (want to see how far off I am and whether I would be able to stomach the difference)
