If for 1080p is more than enough? What if budget increase to below RM7000?
*
Its the motherboard. Just swap it to MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi for RM200 more money so you can upgrade to better CPU in the future. Unless you want 8 core CPU to have smoother CPU heavy games.

Prime B650M-A has real metal heatsink and slightly cheaper too!
https://www.tmt.my/products/asus-prime-b650...atx-motherboard
MSI also at same price!

Nah, both boards has the the worst results!

Safe to say you need to fork out money for better upgrade options...

The MSI Gaming Plus is fine though, 87C is perfectly fine for VRMs (I'd say VRM temps under 90C is perfectly safe) icon_idea.gif
Still waiting for Hardware Unboxed's VRM tests for B850 boards though icon_idea.gif
*
Don't forget to add 10-15C ambient for our country's temperature. 87C is not fine. They test it with 21C ambient. 80C is max for us imo.

As long as it's not throttling, it is fine - note that many VRMs/MOSFETs are designed to handle up to 150C:
https://www.onsemi.com/download/data-sheet/...tmfs4c09n-d.pdf

If TS is only gaming VRM temps are even more of a non-issue as gaming power consumption tends to be much lower and sustained than say, 3D work or exporting videos icon_idea.gif
Hardware Unboxed is simulating a worst case, but real life workload BTW icon_idea.gif

Remember that a 9800X3D only consumes 65W on gaming:

Bare in mind there are games that pushes CPU. My current only could even hit 100C. But of course, my AIO is getting old as well.

Yes, but 3D V-Cache often reduces gaming power consumption significantly so there's not much to worry about icon_idea.gif
Can't say the same thing to current day Intel chips however icon_idea.gif
*
No data for some games. I'm sure X3D does not work on some of the games.

However if OP goes for RT settings, its 5070 > any Radeon.
*
Nah, I'll topup and take RX 9070 XT over RTX 5070 for 2025 any day. Less chance of getting VRAM choked at 1440p+. Rarely go RT due to massive performance hit anyway. I will never recommend 12GB at RM3k. Oh I forgot, driver issue still going on.

Why settle for 2nd best? Topup that and go with 5070TI, beats that Radeon on raster & RT. And driver issue will be settled with time.
*
Because you get unplayable frame rates when it chokes. Like I said, RT is optional for me. I hate the big performance hit.

I will be upgrading my pc from intel to amd on a tight budget. I don't plan to do any overclock but want pc good enough for modern gaming. No need 4k because only have 1440p monitor.

Plan to get 7500f, 32gb, m.2 with 1tb, 750w psu, and will use current graphic card.

Haven't decide on motherboard. Is msi b650m gaming wifi a good motherboard? I need to keep motherboard budget below 800 ringgit. Cheers.
*
m-ATX version got weaker VRM. ATX version is RM100 more money than your budget.

Unless they could use better materials to make CPUs. I'm expecting more power hungry CPUs in the future. Die shrinking is becoming hard and more expensive.

No retail box means warranty is from the shop. You have to double check how long is the warranty.

Was thinking to try lian li ecosystem initially, with their O11 Vision case, Hydroshift AIO, Edge PSU and TL uni fans. But some of these parts seem to have mixed review online, so still surveying. How is the user experience using the SL-INF fans so far if you don't mind sharing. biggrin.gif
*
Not a fan of overpriced fans. I just go for Arctic max fans. Unless RGB is your thing.

Budget very low for high refresh rate 1440p. It will definitely go past RM7k.

1KW PSU seems way overkill for a 220W GPU sweat.gif

Better future proofing, runs cooler and better pricing than 850W. Future Gpus might consume even more power due to the difficulty of die shrinks.

QUOTE(madmathiu @ May 25 2025, 11:55 PM)
Hey guys. I'd like to ask for some advice from all the sifus here in the forum.

I'm currently running

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: 4 x 8GB DDR4
Mobo: Gigabyte B550M DS3h
GPU: Zotac GTX1660 Super

I'm using a 1080p monitor at 60hz. I'm not looking to increase the resolution or frequency.

I'd like to ask if there is a point in upgrading the GPU to say an Arc B580 or similar. For gaming, mainly. I'm wondering if there is a possibility to get 60fps in 1080 at max settings in games like Expedition 33.

I know that my mobo is not the best and there's no VRM cooling so going for an AM4 X3D CPU may not be an option.

What is your opinion? Should I upgrade with a budget of maybe 2k to 3k?
*
Games gets more demanding. There are games already eating more than 8GB VRAM at 1080p if you wanna max the settings. Your CPU is not powerful enough to handle B580. Go for RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Should be around RM2.1k. Get 550W or better PSU if it isnt good enough. If you wanna squeeze every bit of performance with what you have , go for 5600X, or 5700X3D with cooler than blows to the motherboard. It will still struggle a bit.

Don't forget to update BIOS as well.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I saw the Asrock B580 Challenger 12GB for about 1.5k on Shopee. In that case, should I use the extra cash to get the 5700X3D?

Or would it still be better to go for the 5060 Ti 16GB with 5700X3D?

I'm also currently using the Arctic Freezer 34 eSports Duo for cooling. Case fans also maxed out. Not sure if that is sufficient.
*
B580 at RM1.5k is overpriced. Unfortunately Freezer 34 fans doesn't blow the air to the motherboard. Maybe stick a 40-80mm fan on the VRM heatsink if you go for 5700X3D. This will be your last upgrade on this motherboard. Get the best you can get for the CPU side. If you can afford 5060 Ti 16GB and 5700X3D, why not?
