Hi sifus, need recommendations on the pc I'm building for my family.

[B][Budget] RM2.3k

[Purpose] Multimedia/Light-gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None

[Monitor resolution] 1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently]

[Personal preferences] Ryzen R3 APU, dual channel RAM, 24' IPS monitor

[Location] Kedah

Btw, is buying parts online nowadays advisable?
I'm fine with building it but this rig is intended for my family and they would probably need "after-sales service" if some problem arises in the future.
That being said, I don't know any trustable retail shop that provides good after-sales services in my location.

Go ahead and bring the list to any nearby shops for peace of mind.

From Jayacom pricelist: https://www.jayacom.com.my/jayacom-retails-price-lists (No affiliation, just grabbing something convenient to me)

CPU set:
Ryzen 3 2400G, RM638 (comes with stock cooler, if not wrong)
Asrock AB350M HDV, RM265 (will need to update BIOS, ask the shop to do)
Kingston DDR4-2666 4GB x2, RM340
Seagate 2TB HDD, RM245
Cooler Master MWE 400W, RM 150
Cooler Master Elite 311, RM 165
---------------------------
Subtotal RM 1803

Monitor: AOC M2470SWD (23.6', IPS), RM 385
Keybard and Mouse: Logitech MK120 Combo, RM 48

Total so far: RM 2236

KIV add a DVD+RW 24x Optical drive for RM 53.

Will be overbudget if want to include OS... but maybe the SHOP can do bundle OEM installation for you.

For 1080p, maybe GTX1060 6GB is an overkill

From Jayacom pricelist: https://www.jayacom.com.my/jayacom-retails-price-lists (No affiliation, just grabbing something convenient to me)

Ryzen 5 1600, RM735 (with stock cooler)
Asrock AB350 Pro4, RM370
Zotac GTX 1050Ti Mini, RM719
Kingston DDR4-2666 8GB, RM320
Cooler Master MWE 450W RM 170 (tier 4 PSU, but not BAD by any means)

Total ~ RM 2314 before casing

Get any casing RM 140-168 that you prefer.
With the 450W, you have room to upgrade GPU next time for higher performance, let's say GTX1060 6GB or RX580.

Your PSU and GPU looks a bit overkill for 1080p gaming. So is the RAM, as a matter of fact.
It is a good rig that should last you a while, though.

Possible suggestion to save money or get more value:
1. Can reduce to DDR4-2400, 16GB single stick (though I suspect 8GB is probably plenty for next 2-3 years, for 1080p)
2. Change to another decent brand of SSD but higher capacity (eg 480/500GB) at RM 450 or less

1060 isn’t overkill for 1080p. It’s actually the sweet spot for it. I3 8100 + 1060 will give better performance compared to 1600 + 1050Ti.
*
It depends on the games and the monitor, I suppose.

Sure, for newer games, maintaining 60FPS will need better GPU. I am thinking that the player could make use of the 1050Ti and wait for the GTX2050 and see if that is the next step up, in about 3-6 months.

For older games like CS:GO, 1050Ti is enough if 60Hz is the monitor refresh. Unless the player wanted to upgrade to 120/144Hz, that is.

I am thinking that the AM4 has more upgrade path in the future, so the player can make full use of it and upgrade parts such as GPU and CPU as needed. But that is up to the player to decide.

Need bios update for H110 mobo as far as I know. Else can search for a cheap b250 for it.
*
Is it all H110 needs to manual update BIOS? Any of it is ready when buy? Any suggestions? Please recommend.

Hey man, thanks for your kind suggestion. After some consideration I decided to go with a 1070ti and stick to a 8GB 2666mhz Ram instead. I saw lots of benchmark videos of MHW on youtube. 1070ti seems to be most capable at handling 1080p fps and seldom suffer dips even in intense fights. Besides that I've just sent a revised spec list to etech, hoping to get a good 500gb SSD recommendation from them.

Any reason why you aim to get 16GB of rams? Else, I recommend going for 8GB for the time being and go for 1070Ti instead for better gaming experience in MHW. Then if you really think 8GB isnt enough, you can upgrade to 16GB at a later stage. Other than that, the parts are good to go.
*
To be honest, I used to do video editing on my old rig and rendering video uses up to 100% of my ram. So 16gb is a comfortable level for me to still use my pc for browsing while rendering. But I've changed my mind since I'll be going for a 1070ti and stick to a 8GB ram instead. Thanks for your input by the way.

2) which mobo to use?
3) are value ram sufficient?
4) are 8gb ram sufficient? or should i just get 16gb

1) i5 8400 is a very popular choice
2) B360 mobo will be a good choice.
3 & 4) Yes, 8GB value ram is sufficient as it is the minimum requirement for most games these days.

thanks for the prompt reply.

any idea if SST would increase the prices?

Recommended for rendering = More CPU cores and more RAM. 16GB is recommended these days

Recommended for games:
1920 x 1080 = GTX 1060 6GB for high settings
2560 x 1440 = GTX 1070/80 for high settings
3840 x 2160 (4K) = GTX 1080 Ti is the bare minimum. Some games needs you to lower the settings.

Budget very low. GTA needs at least quad core. How about these?

Core i3-8100 - 455
GIGABYTE H310M-S2 - 235
Crucial or Kingston 8GB DDR4-2400 X1 - 310
Gigabyte GTX 1050 2GB DDR5 - 580
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 160
Corsair VS 450 - 159
Tecware Core mATX case - 89

RM1988 total (C-Zone prices)
