QUOTE(MyProLife @ Sep 1 2024, 07:24 PM)
He just finalised the build. Above are ideal but not every shops carrying some part or a bit overpriced. While some other parts got special price and upgrade spec
Therefore price total rm6900 including an AOC gaming monitor (2k 180hz)
i5 14400f rm910
Gigabyte DS3H AX B760M rm600 (almost same spec save for 1 more type c and 1 less pcie full size)
Kingston 32gb ddr4 rm320
KC3000 512gb rm270 (originally NV2 1tb but decided swapped to KC3000 due to NV2 bad rep)
Colorful 4070S NBEX rm2879 (choosen this rather than zotac trinity because huge 300+ price difference)
1st player NGDP 850w rm410 (shop insist on ATX3.0 modular for 4070S or above build, plus free upgrade to 850w)
Segotep Endura pro plus rm200 with 3 fans (because colorful card too long to fit in some normal cases)
ID cooling FX360ARGB Rm262
AOC monitor 27 inch 2K 180hz rm1049

Fortunately i suggested to stick with intel and ddr4. Otherwise budget will overshoot! (He already has some peripherals so is not included here)
*
Wait. He gonna build it himself? Why 360 AIO on i5? Just get Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE at RM139 or Phantom Spirit 1200 SE at RM155 from Shopee. Also, 14400 got less 4 e-cores. MSI B760M-A Pro Wifi DDR4 at RM645 from Shopee.

KC3000 1TB can be found at RM399 from Viewnet. Montech Air 903 Max extreme value at RM319 from Shopee.

Sidetrack. If its 50% more that other brand of cases, I wouldnt call it value unless its competing with those from branded ie Corsair, NZXT, Phanteks, etc. Antec is also similar price level with Montech but it has legacy of legend case making.
*
Find me a case with four 140mm fan at RM319. 180mm CPU cooler, AIO 360 support with space for RTX 4090. Then we'll continue to talk.

The above Segotep is one example with just 1 less fan for more than 50% lower price. Its not that 903 Max is a bad value but its not comparable as its features makes it one tier higher. So value wise it should be compared with higher tier cases.
*
That segotep case has nothing to back it up for the performance. Also less panel ports. I'd take 903 max over it any day.

Id take a Corsair 4000D or Antec DP503 over that tho. At least I pay for the case engineering by them and value for money from a branded case.
*
Wait till the power button breaks after 2 years. Thats what happened to my Corsair Carbide Air 540.

If constant usage after 2 years not too bad lah, and its an easy fix. I replace the power button on my UPS, just RM2 and some soldering skills.
*
Well, since Intel CPU cooling got more demanding and it can't fit a 360. I swapped to Fractal Design Define S2 Vision. Been using that until today. I love this case because the sound dampening is great.

Idealtech have a branch in Penang??? Didn't know about that actually
*
Your budget not high. I would advise against super overpriced Hydroshift cooler. Just get Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 RGB or Phantom Spirit 120 RGB and it will get the job done. Spend that excess money on better value parts.

While your correct for that type of CPU, since this is in a fishtank case I would reco go overkill for an AIO as long usage thermals will be poor in these cases.
*
Yeah, got significantly cheaper AIOs too.

Also, his 3060 Ti 8GB running out of steam soon. New games so demanding on the VRAM. Save that excess money for new graphic card.

Hello, have been lurking for long time. Please give suggestions.

[B][Budget]: around 3.5k

[Purpose]: Mainly gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] mouse, keyboard, 1080p monitor, H510 Elite Casing

[Monitor resolution] 1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently]: Some older AAA games

[Personal preferences]: Dont care aethestic, want every buck going into performance. MATX

> MSI PRO B760M-A WIFI DDR4 639
> MSI MAG A750BN - 309
> Intel I5 12400f - 510
> Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 16GB X 2 - 306
> Reusing H510 Elite
> 1TB KINGSTON KC3000 - 419
> GPU - 3060 12GB vs 6700XT? or similar
Total around 2.2k excluding GPU

Doubt:
1) For GPU, i dont know to go amd or nvidia route. I'm open to buying and using used GPU. Or is it suggested to get a brand new GPU better?
Any suggestions are welcomed.
*
6700 XT is more powerful. Get at least 12GB GPUs.

Hi Sifus, after running around here and there I've gathered the following parts. Please let me know if there's any parts that I should swap out.

Ryzen 7 7800 X3D
ASROCK B650M PRO RS WIFI
PALIT GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER GamingPro 16GB GDDR6X
2TB Kingston KC3000 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD
Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 RGB Desktop Gaming Memory RAM - 6000MHz 16GB x 2
1st Player NGDP GOLD 850W ATX 3.1 PCIE5
THERMALRIGHT Peerless Assassin 120 SE

There are trillions of CPU case which I really duno how to choose.. please also share some recommendations for parts above.

Ps. Had a really hard time selecting the brand for mobo and GPU. Also wondering if Kingston ram is good enough because G.skill is abit more expensive.

Thank you!
*
Today, I would pick Lian Li Lancool III.

Check the CAS Latency of your RAM. Make sure it is CL30. There is Acer Predator Pallas II 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 as well.

I thought gigabutt has PCB breaking issues? That's why I avoided it 😅 thanks for the recommendations on mobo, ram and casing! Will look into it.
Lian Li is around rm600? I think I'll look for more budget options around 300..

Thanks for the feedbacks!
*
RM300? Try Montech Air 903 Max. Just slightly over your budget.

Giga GPU warranty? Hmm....

*
Personally done 2 RMAs with GPU and 1 RMA with mobo.

RTX 3080 Ti Gaming OC RMA 1 for dead display ports. No issue. RMA 2 for second 8-pin not working. Got free RTX 4080 upgrade.

RMA Z690i Aorus Ultra DDR4 for faulty pcie X16. Got Z690i Aorus Ultra Plus DDR4 for free.

High hotspot temps is normal for low tier cards. Don't use RM500-1000 more cards to compare. You can upgrade paste and thermal pads later when its out of warranty.

Can recommend thermal paste? If I use thermal pad, next time I remove fan for cleaning, can just put back together afterwards? Will doing so affect the pad?
*
Check prices and look for these. Noctua NT-H2 have the longest lifespan but it is expensive.

Assuming you are talking about GPU thermal pads. I just reinstall the heatsink without touching it.

Honeywell 7950 phase changing pad. See reviews quite good. Thinking to try it, but the same question keeps coming across my mind - if let's say I remove the whole CPU air cooler. If I install the cooler back, will the pad loses efficiency, cuz kinda like tearing the pad apart (?)
*
Pads are reusesable. It turns into liquid when its heated. Just make sure the installation is high pressure (means screw until cannot move).

Hi sifus, thinking of changing out the graphics card, would a 4070ti super make a significant difference at 1440p?

10900k
2070 super
NZXT C850 PSU
*
Yes. you get about double performance and more VRAM. 8GB is crap for 2024 games.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/pny-gefo...erto-oc/32.html

2070 super around Arc A750, RX 6600 XT or RTX 3060 for today's performance.

That A3 is maxi DANS type case, basically ITX case upsize to fit MATX, so airflow is shit compared to regular MATX case. Look at the GPU is pressed against the bottom fans (or vertically mounted pressed against side panel) not only cause havoc on airflow to GPU but increase noise.

These type of DANS/SSUPD cases not meant for high power parts, but utubers like to cram as much inside killing any airflow to VRMS & SSD. Ever wonder why they never test VRM temps or SSD throttling in their reviews? Bcoz it will be bad.

You made the right choice with that Air 100.  rclxms.gif
*
These cases are highly customizeable.

in terms of motherboard brand? which one is better in terms of overall quality and built that is likely to last longer with less problems?

Asus
Gigabyte
MSI
*
Get good quality power supply. All can last longer due to cleaner electricity provided. Less ripple and noise makes the hardware work less.

QUOTE(isr25 @ Sep 22 2024, 03:25 PM)
Guys, I bought a new rig (not yet arrived) for gaming
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: MSI RTX 4080 Super
Cooler: ID-Cooling Space SL360
Mobo: MSI B650M Gaming Plus WiFi
RAM: G.Skill Trident RGB 2x16GB 6,000Mhz CL30
SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB
PSU: Corsair RM850E
Case: Antec C5

I'm now wondering if I should increase the RAM to 64GB since MSFS has the "ideal" spec is 64GB RAM and maybe future games would ideally have more than 32GB.
*
You already bought the best you can get. DDR5 is extremely fussy with 4 sticks. I would advise using current one until its not enough. Switch it to 32GB X2 DDR5 somewhere in the future. Bare in mind there will be compatibility checks. Its harder to push more speed with higher density.
