I just installed the 5800x3d on my mobo. Works fine. No issues at all. Working with a cheap cpu cooler from deepcool
*
Try Cinebench R23 for 30mins with HWINFO monitoring ur CPU temps & VRM temps (if available).

If it dont thermal throttle then ur system will most likely handle whatever you can throw at it ie render, AI, etc.

If it does throttle then ur need to further monitor if ur daily use case will go thermal as well, and if yes ur need to underclock & undervolt it to ensure ur system longevity. Go with TristanX reco for a downblower cooler so ur mobo VRMs dont fry itself in long run.

Those opting for DDR5 builds.

In terms of price/performance factors and chips, there's 2 kits available locally. It's not from the usual big ram brands, Corsair, gskill, Kingston....

Cvn Icicle 6600 CL34 (Colorful)
Predator Vesta ii 6600 CL34 (Acer)

Both using the new hynix A dies. The Icicle comes only in icy white color (hence the name Icicle). While the Vesta ii comes with either black or silver, easier to match with black Mobo , taller heat spreader and slightly tighter timings. Price difference are not much being the Vesta ii slightly more expensive but u get what u paid for (slightly better timings and better heat spreader). And if using big tower coolers, careful with the Vesta ii.
*
Timings can be manually adjusted after XMP but success at the fine edge is not a surety and results can differ from one another.

One key comparison is how their PCB board is made, as in the one with more layers would have better high speed stability (or so they say) and construction of the heatspreader can also be an edge factor ie whether it is just a thin piece metal more for looks or a chonky metal that will better dissipate heat.

Already did. No throttling whatsoever. Max cpu temperature was 90deg.

At the borderline sweat.gif Perhaps can consider get a better cooler sooner than later.

That 90 was at full load cinebench. During gaming around 60-70 only. Idle around 50

With such a powrful CPU Id advice dont skimp on cooling. A PA120/PS120 is like <Rm150 only.

Mind sharing why you would want to pay the Asus tax on that mobo? At a Rm1500 it is as costly as some Z790 mobos. Unless you need lots M2 slots, you can do with MSI Pro B760M-A (heck for a 13400, even the inferior -E could do fine).

AIO (esp w/ ARGB) does look nice but for work PC ur might want to get air coolers for long term reliability. And for a 13400, Thermalright PA120/PS120 is more than enough. If on a budget even basic coolers like SE224XT/XTS will done just fine.

RAMs you could go with Kingston Beast or Corsair Vengeance clocked to 2400MHZ JEDEC. Most of these have 4000+ XMP that you can turn on but I doubt ur workflow needs that higher speeds vs any XMP issues.

A good A tier 850W PSU will do fine for that 4070Ti but if ur planning future GPU upgrades better to get a 900/1000W unit.

@Myway @TristanX any recos for OP here?

If ur a Ryzen user dy then its okay to go for that setup otherwise refer what Myway said above

Ripjaws kit is overpriced unless ur planning to OC, otherwise just get the standard RAMs that gets put into recos here

My existing rig
i3-4130
Asus H97 plus
12GB RAM
DDR4 the fastest I can get is PC3600 - their kit is the cheapest apparently.

Im also looking for a value for money GC, AMD or Nvidia? GTX 1650?
*
Allocate 1/3 or Rm1k for GPU. With Rm2k will be tight for other parts.

AMD would be better for value but since ur not a user, cant reco it for you so for such super low budget will get last gen stuff;
i5 - 12400
MSI B660M-E
Intel Stock Cooler (any balance money can put to buy SE224XT/XTS)
Gskill DDR4 kit that you found
FSP HV Pro 650W
Techware Nexus/Forge M2 nonRGB or Montech Air 100

GPUwise Nvidia none is value for money, try get Radeon RX6600 8GB (nonXT) or used 6600XT for about Rm1k. Nvidia route only GTX1660 6GB.
Games are getting more demanding for more VRAMS.

is RX6500 and RX6600 got big jump?
*
If insist for AMD then an equivalent is
R5600 nonX
MSI B550M Pro VDH
Wraith Stock Cooler (any balance money can put to buy SE224XT/XTS)
Gskill DDR4 kit that you found
FSP HV Pro 650W
Techware Nexus/Forge M2 nonRGB or Montech Air 100
*Kingston KC3000 nvme 1tb (forgotten about storage)

Add RX6600 8GB for RM 1k.
Compared with RX6500 is day & nite, 6600 has 128bit vs 6500 64bit VRAM bus plus better core, giving 65% overall performance boost.

This ROG Strix mobo price could get you a Z790 which you can OC with that 12600K plus other upgraded features, so mind sharing why you would want to pay the Asus tax?

Due to bad research. Was looking for white MOBO, did not notice other choices available (Whitish/silver) MOBO.
Bad BING search. The boards recommended by some sifu here is MATX board. (Won't it look weird in NZXT H9 case?)

confused.gif
*
Depends on ur choice. I think my system looks cleaner with a MATX mobo in ATX case as I dont see as much the chips, bits & pieces. I have a 3060Ti thru the full width of that mobo so kinda covers the bottom half, and if I have a chungous GPU next, it prolly will completely covers the bottom half quite nicely.
user posted image

I could get that clean look too on ATX mobo with those fully covered ones like NZXT N7 but those are usually high end and rather expensive.

There are quite a number of affordable white themed or silver/whitish themed mobos like Asrock Steel Legend, PG Sonic too (if you dont mind Sonic theme it is a very solid MATX mobo), MSI Mortar DDR5, etc

Budget : around 12k

Purpose : 3D modeling for game and cinematic, play game sometime

Hardwares that will be re-use: No

Monitor resolution : 2k 27"

Games & softwares that use frequently : some AAA game, Zbrush, Maya, Substance painter and unreal engine

Personal preferences : 1Tb ssd, 1 or 2tb hdd, 32ram, need more than 16 core cpu, gpu 12gb vram...

Location : KL & Selangor
Dont have any brand in mind at the moments, feel free to open for any brand and suggestion where to buy  rclxm9.gif  planning to build next year
*
Which part of next year? Q1? Q2? Q3? Q4?
Do pay attention what will come up next thru the year, Meteorlake is coming soon, Arrowlake hmm maybe towards Q4? Ryzen 8000series might start coming too. GPUwise nothing significant seems to be in horizon unless AMD release R8000 high end to fight 4090 but too bad as AMD seem to confirm its unlikely will come soon. DDR5 prices will continue to drop while SSD prices might rise as current overinventory are reduced.

If USA goes into recession next year (quite likely), then you will have less money to spend on hardware as RM gets pressured. You might want to wait until Q4 then to let US stabilise after their own elections.

Dont worry about kena bambu for planning ahead, some people have more money than value sense. Dont listen to them. I had started planning my build 6 mths in advance b4 buying at end of 2022 and I chopped & changed nearly everything as I track hardware coming out as better stuff gets released and existing ones becomes cheaper.

https://s.lazada.com.my/s.6ua1V

And something like is work or not
*
Aint so complex if you readup on the difference between 3pin (V DC) and 4pin (PWM). They do work with each other but there's pros & cons.

Splitter for 4pin can also be used for 3 pin. No problem. Just make sure the RPM sense wire is for the fan you want to drive the speed variable.

That Arctic Fan will work and I did see it when I searching but its a PWM fan and better not to use V DC to control its speed (unless you want run full throttle all the time). The ID fan I gave is 3pin so it will work fine with ur mobo 3pin fan header.

12V & 5V is talking about the type of RGB lighting, nothing to do with ur matter.

Those are B760 boards. I have that asrock B760m Sonic. Quality wise, just about average. There's still flimsy parts in it.
Even if he opt for Matx, he shld be getting the CVN Z690m Frozen WiFi (white).
*
Of course as a value for money mobo it will lack when compared with ur Maximus Formula that cost 3x more LOL. Not everyone has the money to afford high end hardware so we will go for value oriented stuff and for the price it is asking, there is a lot of value with nearly all the feature sets of an ATX mobo.

Colorful mobos seem to lack support, having only 4 bios updates vs 6 for the Sonic and that is a newer mobo family somemore. Other than Ocing that Z690M lacks other features (only 2 M2) vs that Sonic (3 M2). In looks the Sonic is miles more interesting with the streaks of blue and the hologram ring.
