then motherboard need to switch to matx size
either mortar wifi or mortar max wifi

I thought usb a to type c adaptor speed will follow type a speed?
else just buy a type c extension laugh.gif
*
MSI Pro B760M-A, Mortar, Mortar Max, both are MATX versions of Tomahawk. Asrock PG Sonic, PG Riptide, Steel Legend only. Others are shit with poor VRM.

Asus line, only ROG Strix is worthy, the others will boost kaw beyond specs until CPU throttle to max. Made worse when Prime mobos have poor VRM to match.

Giga has backdoor Bios.

USB header speed depends on ur mobo header. 3.2 Gen2 goes from 10 Gbps.

This one then no type c

Guess I had to gave up either front i/o no type c or bigger case and put it on floor

Fractal design north seems can fit it, got 2 2.5" and 2 2.5"/3.5" drive, with front i/o type c hmm.gif

North is 215mm width tho... sweat.gif

Heya,

It's been awhile since I popped back in but just to check with community what's the choice for intel 12th/13th gen motherboard.
especially on the mid range budget.

I did go through couple of pages in the thread but wanting to elaborate further in this topic.
*
What else there to elaborate. Just go thru 5-10 pages back for Intel recommends by sifus Tristan & Myway and you will find some common mobos of choice.

Summoning sifus again (tristan, myway, chocobo et. al.)

After your successful 3060 build to my colleague some months back, now am looking at potentially another build to help with.

Hope you can lend your expertise again, please help fix and optimize this basic quote.

Usage: purely gaming for colleague #2 son (atas version)

CPU: INTEL CORE I7 13700 PROCESSOR ( 30M CACHE, UP TO 5.40 GHZ )
COOLER: THERMALRIGHT AQUA ELITE 360 ARGB V2 AIO LIQUID COOLER - WHITE ( 360MM ) can recommend air cooler? is it still Scythe Mugen? I forget the exact model
MOBO: GIGABYTE Z690 GAMING X DDR4 V2 SOCKET 1700 MAINBOARD  this mobo will defer to your recommendations
RAM: KINGSTON FURY BEAST 2x16GB 32GB DDR4 3600MHZ MEMORY RAM should go with DDR5 or DDR4 is sufficient for the next years of this PC gaming?
GPU: ZOTAC GAMING RTX 4080 TRINITY 16GB GDDR6X budak mau 4080
NVME: KINGSTON KC3000 M.2 SOLID STATE DRIVE ( 1024GB )
PSU: COOLER MASTER V2 SERIES 80+ GOLD POWER SUPPLY ( V850 ) 850W enough or need 1000W
CASE: LIAN LI PC-O11 DYNAMIC TG E-ATX CHASSIS - WHITE recommend better / cheaper casing if possible, dun want giant tower type
FAN: THERMALRIGHT TL-C12CW-S ARGB PWM CHASSIS FAN - WHITE X6

TOTAL RM9946

Also need a 27" monitor (1440p) to go with it -- this one researching separately.
So far considering to recommend this, but monitor is like another new dimension of research required  rclxub.gif  --> LG 27GP850

Mind you it is difficult to run 3600 XMP @G1 using nonK CPU cuz the IMC need the extra volts but VCCSA is locked. Unless ur know to manually tune it, better to go with 3200 CL16 or better CL14 which will outperform standard 3600 CL16/18 RAMs.

And pairing nonK with Z mobo is waste of money unless ur got use case for Z features. Might save money if go with higher end B760/660 mobo. Or else just get Ksku CPU and solve the above issue plus can OC with that Z mobo.

My bad, I forgot about the overclocking part.

OC is not required. Would an i5-13600F be enough? What mobo should I pair it with?

For casing most likely going for o11 air mini, not sure if too small for the specs tho.
*
Ur building a 10k PC man. Dun downplay it by giving a locked i5. Go with ur original specs but try save money here n there ie go with Colorful NB 4080 & less expensive airflow type cases, then can put back into getting a 13700K. Not necessary means have to OC but the higher (plus indefinite!) PL2 boost in Ksku gives extra performance and also with K CPU you can up the VCCSA so you can run that 3600 RAM at auto XMP speeds @G1 mode.

Somemore like difference between Ksku & nonK is only RM40 je. WTH man!!

https://shopee.com.my/-Intel-Core-i7-13700K...e4-c818c7c0b4d6

PS. And if it gets too hot and system is throttling, you can also undervolt with Ksku CPU.

Nah, I just got my hands on a good 13th gen chips and upgrading my 9th gen but considering the type of game I play, i'm just looking for quality ol board.
*
Which 13th Gen CPU that you have? Cuz depends on which one, the mobo tier can be vary.

Boss, decided don't want 13700K d. Now considering 13600K. 13700K very hot
This build OK? The RAM just to show DDR5. Probably will just pick the cheapest one. Same for GPU, as others mentioned, will just pick the cheapest 4080 after finalized the other parts.

CPU Intel Core i5-13600K 3.5 GHz 14-Core Processor
CPU Cooler NZXT Kraken 240 RGB 78.02 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard MSI MPG Z690 FORCE WIFI ATX LGA1700
Memory Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-5600 CL36 Memory
Storage Kingston KC3000 1.024 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Video Card Gigabyte AERO OC GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB Video Card
Case Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini Snow Edition ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply Cooler Master V850 SFX GOLD 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular SFX Power Supply
*
Nearly there, just the RAM speed a bit too slow. Get that Colorful CVN DDR5 6600MHZ for RM579 and ur all set to build.

No OC, Pro B660-A DDR4 or B760-A DDR4

13500 with the mobos below:

Good point, the space clearance might not be enough at the top. However if let say I plan to go for AIO at side, top will be outflow, will the super narrow clearance affect anything? The space is like 5cm only.. lol
I found that Tecware VXN v2 seems quite ok for the form factor i need, also stumble across Lian Li O11Dynamic mini. Price wise quite different, but o11d support atx tho.

Both brands are quite decent right? As I dont plan to upgrade case any more in near future, so I don't mind topping a bit more for the case for the quality and flexibility.
But Lian Li need to purchase fan as it doesn't come together I assume.
Ah okay boss. Too bad cause I got a hard constraint on <400mm, cause of my desk got blockage above.
But I'll check the other spec and play around and see.
Thanks a lot!
*
Lian Li's is the OG, Tecware one is one of the numerous clones of it, altho its trend towards the cheaper level so things like functionality, build quality, USB C ports, are lacking. Any of these will work so just make sure their dimensions work for you as they are quite wider than usual MATX cases.

AIO isnt as maintenance free as a air cooler, there is little warning when a pump block dies so unless ur quite tech savvy I would advice against using AIO. The hardware reco by sifus here dont really need one. And unless ur Ocing, you dont really need one if you ady have a very competent air cooler and that pa120 is crazy good.

Hi sifu-sifu. i have an old rig since 2017 and i wanted to do some upgrading. i have 2-3k to spare, what will be your advice?

Main usage - gaming only.

these are my specs:
Intel i7-7700
CM Hyper EVO 212 CPU cooler
MSI B250M Gaming PRO Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 8GB
Western Digital Green 120GB SSD
Western Digital Blue 1TB 7.2k RPM
MSI GTX1080-ARMOR 8G
ThermalTake Smart RGB 700W Power Supply
INWIN 301 White Casing
*
Still a competent system so lets try limited upgrades.
Quoting from others here

I5-13500 RM1150
B760M MSI a WiFi pro rm679
1tb kc3000 rm339
1st player steampunk 850 rm399

Reuse RAM, HDD, cooler(need to buy LGA1700 adapter kit), casing, GPU (still can play mid to low end settings 1080p).

When you have more money upgrade GPU to 4070Ti/4080

U shld pay more for the 011 mini air (fans included) rather than that tecware gibberish nonsense.
U will get back what u paid for, bro. Lianli cases are well made.
Use a 240 AIO on the 12600k, it needs that for max boost.
And pls be creative on where to put the case. it still needs some clearing space for airflow. In and out.
*
12600K only max boost PL2 to 150W, no need AIO unless OCing and even a cheapo 224XT/XTS (max 180W TDP) will work fine. PA120 is ady overkill but since it can be reused in future systems some headroom is better.

What's the issue with AIO regardless of the Tdp ?
AIO can be used at any Tdp be it high or low, just a matter of preference. However, it's always advantageous to use AIO for a build and it looks cleaner and it will look beautiful in the 011 mini air.
*
Too much maintenance if one is not tech savvy

And for something that cost so much, it is a miracle if the pump could last even 5 years. And once the pump KO, the entire AIO goes to the bin.

Don't agree with Ur reasonings. I have AIO that last me more than 5 years. These are corsairs and Thermaltake. So what's with the cost thing if one can afford it ? It  will never be an issue.
*
I don't have watercooling personal experience so I can only say that is what I heard from forumers that used them and the drawbacks are consistent with what is shown by reviewers. This is my proof.

Cost has nothing to do with owning one, if one is not tech savvy and not able to detect pump failure (see my 2nd video) then it can slowly cook that CPU and you wouldn't know why it happens until too late. A good air cooler still has heatsink mass and you can easily see if a fan failed (for cases with side window).

is this right place to get recommendation on casing?
Im looking for ATX casing, mid-tower, budget about RM 250 (not sure this budget is justifiable?)
Saw Montech Air 1000 Premium but review says air flow not good..
*
Do you have any specific needs or features?

Otherwise a good budget ATX tower I am using is Tecware Nexus Air (not to be confused with MATX sized M2)
You can see my review of it here https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...343604&hl=nexus

It has quite many features seen in premium cases inc vertical GPU mount with adapter kit.
