[Budget] - 2000

[Purpose] - Gaming

[Hardwares that will be re-use] - Nothing

[Monitor Preference] - Any 22-24 inch IPS will do

[Games & softwares that use frequently] - Just any games

[Personal Preference] - Ryzen 5 and AMD cards ( RED FTW ! )
*
You need to increase your budget, it is not enough to fit all the components.

22" - 24" IPS monitor - around RM 500
Ryzen 5 1400 - around RM 800 (cheapest available Ryzen CPU in Malaysia now)
RX460 2GB - around RM 550 (cheapest RX400 series)

As you can see, the total cost is already nearly 2k with just 3 items in the cart sweat.gif

QUOTE(tongaz86 @ Apr 15 2017, 06:31 PM)
Will sacrifice some setting for better FPS. SSD is just for window & some games. If I upgrade latter from HDD to SSD will it be hard to transfer?
I will be getting the 3GB variants. If I lower my CPU to i3 will there be a bottleneck? (i3 7100)
*
If you buy a 240GB SSD in the future and you have a 1TB HDD with 800GB of files then you need to choose which files to migrate over to the new SSD, or just format the whole PC again (this is recommended to reduce the chance of having symlinks issue after data migration).

Regarding the CPU, it depends on games, some games don't require i5 to run smoothly but some do, i5 is a safer bet in this case (you can downgrade to i5 7400/7500 to save cost, they are very close in terms of performance).

QUOTE(skullker @ Apr 15 2017, 09:10 PM)
Then how much do i need to increase my budget? 2.5k or 3k will be enough?
And also listed the complete ryzen 5 ( minimum budget ) rig. TQ and sorry if too much question.
*
If you want to run games at relatively high settings, then prepare at least 3k (just for the rig) and another 500 for the monitor.

QUOTE(tongaz86 @ Apr 15 2017, 10:17 PM)
How about ram? Do i get the highest MHz that I can support or just anything. Also what the difference with those fancy looking colorful ram and just plain naked?
*
Only Z270 (for Intel latest consumer grade chipset) supports RAM speed of > 2400MHz currently, so just get 2133MHz or 2400MHz RAM for other chipset (H270 & B250 support 2400MHz, H110 & B150 & H170 support up to 2133MHz only).

Speed and latency matter the most, those fancy RGB/LED lighting don't bring any performance improvement one, if they are having similar speed and latency count then just get the cheapest one if you want to save cost.

Thanks for the suggestions! looks good. But don't I need a cooler of some sort as well for these set up? And how much would it cost if I need windows installed as well?
*
The CPU comes with Intel HSF which is enough for non-overclocking build (unless bad temperature).

The case that I've recommended comes with 3 casing fans (2 front & 1 rear), should be enough for now, you can add more if needed.

Windows 10 Home OEM costs around RM 200+ (RM 500+ for retail version), if you want to save money, go to Garage Sales or lelong/mudah.my and hunt for cheap genuine key (beware of counterfeit key though).

All major retailers have Ryzen 5 in stock already.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 - RM 1039 SRP
AMD Ryzen 5 1400 - RM 819 SRP

AMD Ryzen 5 1600X and 1500X will arrive later.

guys, if i buy mobo lga1151 now can support ddr3 ram? want to upgrade one at a time

edit: and i5 4460
*
Yep, look for previous generation chipset like H110/B150/H170.

But i5 4460 is running on LGA1150 socket so you cannot fit it on a LGA1151 mobo.

hi terence_nwb

how do u check if mobo is compatible with gpu or not? since u said mine can just upgrade rx480 without changing any parts, can i still go with rx 580? saw the price it's quite affordable.
*
It is supported as long as the mobo comes with PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (2.0 is ok too) and yes your mobo does come with PCIe 3.0 x16 slot so you can upgrade to any modern GPU in the market now without changing your existing mobo.

which is a better brand for amd ? i see sapphire nitro+ rx 580 rm1.4k, msi rm1.2k  hmm.gif

It's up to your own personal preferences, they are equally good in my opinion, just get the one that you like the most in terms of design, card cooling performance as well as pricing etc.

hi all,,

saw youtube video showing ryzen can only support ddr4 and max freq 2400Mhz?
*
DDR4 only: Yes.

Max frequency 2400MHz: Not entirely, stock speed is 2400MHz (min achievable speed), some higher end Ryzen CPU do support 2666MHz natively, but RAM overclocking on Ryzen is still lagging behind Intel's capability.

Intel Xeon E1230V2
Asus P8B75-M
G,Skill Ares 1600 Cl9 8GB
Sapphire 7770
650 watt psu

Is there any point of upgrading the mobo @ gc@ ram for better performance? Is my proc is outdated already?

If not, do suggest model to optimize my cpu performance with the existing proc.. thanks a bunch..

No need to upgrade if you are satisfied with the current performance.

Satisfaction is subjective... i just want to know if there any way to increase performance such as change better gc or anything else..
*
Everyone has different satisfaction, if you don't feel slow at all then why go for an upgrade? You need to question yourself first "Am I okay with the current performance? Like the settings that I can run in games, the frame rates that I can get from my current setup, the time needed to finish a video render and so forth".

You never state out the purpose of your rig initially so it is hard to give any plain recommendation after all. The processor is still one of the fastest out there (on par with i7 4790), if you are a gamer and craving for more frame rates then you should upgrade the GPU.

i3 is faster than A10 7890K, no point getting the old CPU when you aren't re-using a FM2+ mobo.

Hi,
I am just on the planning stage for my desktop setup from scratch. (require an estimate budget)
Mainly will use for gaming, web browsing, and little bit of video editing/ photoshop.

As for gaming, I will mainly use it on online game and some AAA title with max setting. Monitor wise, the monitor I am looking for 4k g-synch hdr monitor which I don't think available in market as of now.

Would appreciate a rough setup for my future desktop.
*
This could cost a lot.

i7 or Ryzen 7 - around 1.5k+
A decent mobo - around 600+/-
16GB DDR4 RAM - around 600+/-
GTX1080Ti 11GB G5X - around 4000+/-
240GB SATA SSD - around 500+/-
1TB SATA HDD - around 225+/-
A decent 500W - 600W PSU - around 500+/-
Casing of your own choice - around 500+/-
Monitor - estimate to be around 5000
Misc (keyboard, mouse, speaker, cooler, casing fan, LED strip etc.) - around 500+/-

Total up will be around 14k laugh.gif

Sifus, worth to upgrade my rig now? Specs in my siggy. Budget around RM5k for CPU, MB, Ram, GPU.

For me, it is not really a good time to upgrade now due to bad forex rate unless you are looking for more performance (or feeling unsatisfied with the current performance).

Dear sifus

requesting a mitx cpu built without gpu/monitor with budget of 5k mainly for gaming purpose in future.

Thanks
Mori
*
5k budget for a rig without GPU and monitor is TOOOOO MUCH unless you plan to go for overclockable setup. There are many mITX casings in the market, some are very small while some are quite (or too) big to be called as SFF casing, you need to be specific on your casing requirements so I can recommend the parts properly. The build below is based on Fractal Design Nano S casing (medium size mITX).

Intel Core i7 7700 - RM 1397
Gigabyte H270N-WiFi - RM 615
G.SKill Aegis 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2400MHz RAM - RM 570
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD - RM 474
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
EVGA SuperNova 550 G2 - RM 459
Fractal Design Nano S - RM 339

Dear Terence

thanks for your suggestion. the casing im intending to use is the node202. i am planning to oc in the future with a GeForce GTX1080 FE.
My planning was this built
Intel Core i7 7700K
Asus Rog Strix Z270I
Noctua NH-L9i
Corsair LPX 16GB DDR4 3000Mhz
Samsung 850 Evo 500GB
just wondering if i should change to a better casing and lost on the psu and would it require better cooling.
*
The airflow of Node 202 is dreadful, get a better casing if overclocking is a must, otherwise just stick with non-overclocking setup.

I wanna build a complete PC that is capable of handling day to day accounting task(Word, Excel, you know the simple stuff)

Budget: 2K or less

It should include the following:
CPU
Power supply
Case
RAM
Motherboard
A monitor

Is it necesary to include a GPU in this case?
*
GPU is not needed for your usage.

Intel Pentium G4560 - RM 244
Asus H110M-K - RM 259
Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133MHz Value RAM - RM 254
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 450W - RM 185
Tecware F3 - RM 125
AOC I2280SWD IPS - RM 405

Total: RM 1691 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)

Optional part: SSD

guys is this build alright?

cpu: ryzen 5 1500x
mobo: asrock x370 gaming k4 or asrock killer sli?
psu: leadex ii gold 650w or evga g3?
ram: corsair vengeance lpx 2666mhz 8gb x1 (may add another stick in future)
gpu: nitro+ rx 580 8gb
ssd: 850 evo 120gb
hhd: toshiba 1tb
case: fractal design define c with window

my question is about the fractal define c case, as it comes with front and back 120mm. i want to add another 120mm in front of the case, but should i add 120mm or 140mm? so the front of the case will be 120mm (top and btm) or (120mm top and 140mm btm)
*
140mm if you want higher airflow (CFM), 120mm if you prefer similar casing fan size for aesthetic purpose.

will it disrupt the airflow if one is bigger than another? like cant push up or down and exhaust to the rear?
*
Hard to notice the difference since airflow is quite subjective, it is prone to environment change, the position of the hardware installed in the casing and etc.

If you have more budget to spare, move the included 120mm front casing fan to top as exhaust and buy two new 140mm/120mm casing fans and install them as front intake biggrin.gif

The total cost difference is quite big, from 2.5k to 3.7k to 4.3k sweat.gif

Really hard to recommend anything if your budget range is too wide (or too flexible), it is better to fix an amount (or max budget) and build the rig based on it.
