Dude, thanks for this.. Sorry, I didn't bother reading it cuz it seems as if you simply NEED to be right.. No one really cares about your decision.. You already bought the device liao for 1K and it's subpar except in the iTunes dept.. Which 99.9% of folks here don't care about.. And this in addition to previous reviews are short reviews? How long would the long ones be then? Don't answer, it's rhetorical.. Seriously, learn to let go. Jeez.. doh.gif
*
I always do first is my impression and later short review but some of you got problem and you are one of it, you cannot accept because I never follow your decision, you feel everyone must follow your decision because you though your are most experience king and you know everything and your decision is the most correct one. Sure you will not agree but you are like that.

Apple thing may not give you do everything but not means their product is bad. I don't see Apple fans as a Android hater but they is some Android fans is Apple hater. This is low level attitude.

You though the 1k better spend in Nvidia Shield but that is not what I want. It is not worth for me in Nvidia Shield. At least not now because I read the very simple frame rate and color spacing also can't auto switch even on latest Oreo. (Based on latest information in internet).

You just never knew one thing - this is forum and this suppose a place to share not to follow your decision.

I write based on experience not like some people write based on information gather from internet and sometimes the information is outdated or not accurate.

then u need to set US as ur endpoint...
abit slow, but i can guarantee 100% no prob.
i activated my acc and credit card this way. 😎

fyi tor network is individual public network.
not belong to any commercial vpn.

When just start that time can but now no longer can. They is too many blocking that prevent you register outside USA.

I google already and seems no one able to do so anymore now.

This Movies Anywhere is not important to me, not plan spending more time on it.

Probably I will ask around in others forum to see who can help me register is my last try on it if needed.

Your TV support HDR10 standard and also nobody use yet HLG standard which design for broadcasting.

All TV support HDR will have minimum support of HDR10 standard.

Another HDR standard is Dolby Vision but mainly only LG high-end TV support it and also some Sony high-end model. As for content currently only some Netflix show, some Movies iTunes and also some 4K Blu-ray title support it. But no worried on this because all Dolby Vision title will play under HDR10 if detect no Dolby Vision device. Not much manufacture provide Dolby Vision standard even though it is the best looking HDR standard because it is not like HDR10 which is royalty free.

They is another new standard call HDR10+ which only announcement in year 2017 and some not yet release TV is support it but not in market selling yet. It is enhancement from HDR10 by adding in dynamic metadata to better produce brightness frame by frame or scenes by scenes, this enhancement release is to compete similar method did by Dolby Vision.

4k Blur ray movie need this?
*
4K Blu-ray 99% is in HDR format, without it then you will play the title in SDR and they is big visual differences on it.

You need to have a HDR TV (your model already is) and also a player that support HDR. For actual 4K Blu-ray disc player all support HDR.

For rip from disc and play with BD menu then I not sure which media player support it.

I notice you mentioned Oppo UDP 203 which is a 4K Blu-ray player for playing the actual disc. It also support of 4K content playback but I not sure it can play with BD menu or not for rip to HDD one.

Don't need check for Dolby Vision because your TV not support it. All Dolby Vision content will play fine in your TV under HDR10 standard. Even your player support Dolby Vision but it also will playback under HDR10 standard because your TV is not support Dolby Vision.

Previously some highlight Apple TV 4K is too expensive and half bake as no support of latest surround sound.

This issue is solve in next tvOS update. After update Apple TV 4K will be the only TV Box is Dolby certified on both latest Dolby technology from visual to audio - Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. smile.gif

Any purchase title in Movies iTunes will free upgrade to Dolby Atmos if the title came with it later.

Kindly ignore this post if you not interesting with Apple TV 4K. No point to do any unnecessary argue on this. Appreciate much.

Read about it in my feed this morning. Good that Apple is adding features to the box and upgrading your library for free.
Unfortunately, it does seem that they are only supporting Dolby Atmos via streaming which is actually DD+ Atmos (which is lossy). They are still not providing pass-through for lossless audio. I guess this is not their main focus because they are trying to sell their iTunes movies and not cater to those who want local file playback.

What mean double workspace?
Just to share my experience, my job do relate on TV I have seen alot high end and low end TV daily..
These HD full HD 2k 4k all can consider over exaggerated..
I couldn't denied that there is different, but not as what normal people expect..
For ordinary people, if you put side by side 2k and 4k with 40 inch TV they can't differentiate, it depend on colour that meets their taste.
You can notice the diff when the size of the screen is big maybe over 50 inch..
Just my 2cent

If have budget then just go for 4k.. If no actually 2k is very clear already on 40inch display
*
I do agree on this. 4K is not very noticeable unless it is size 60" and above.

But lucky release of HDR. HDR wise do make big differences on visual.

Those saying 4K for monitor give big working space is kind of not in reality usage, even in 43" you still hardly seen the wording in Windows, you need to upscale to at least 125% or better 150% for a proper not eye stretching view, but in 150% scale already make the work space not much different as in 1440p resolution.

Those iptv all is subsribtion? Or got free? Want setup one for my parent... They not so tech generation.. Kodi I can setup but iptv I not sure... Donno iptv will more user friendly for them or not..

Hometown using steamy 4mbps will it sufficient? Box I bought is x96mini

They is no free IPTV is forever. Even paid also. Paisei I seldom watch much, actually didn't watch very long time already, didn't follow up much on that.

IPTV surely much user friendly than Kodi. Kodi need some teaching time for non tech parents.

For 4 mbps only can watch up to 1080p and better in 720p for smooth performance because 1080p required from 3mbp to 7mbps where 720p from 1mbp to 3mbp speed.

Movies Anywhere basically is very useless now as it is not support playback titles in 4K and 4K HDR.

https://help.moviesanywhere.com/hc/en-us/ar...t-3D-4K-or-HDR-

Also it only can grab movies from US account. I link my Malaysia Google Play Movies account can link but not appear any of my purchase movies.
As for Movies iTunes only can link US iTunes account. Also it not allow you to link multiple same platform account.

Edit: I just notice now all my iTunes movies is link inside my Google Play Movies apps but my Google Play Movies movie is not inside Movies Anywhere apps. Lol

This Movies Anywhere the only good is allow playback of Movies in iTunes at Android device but up to HD quality only.

Key statements being "Eligible UHD Digital Copy codes will flow to your connected Digital Retailers, some of which support UHD."

Okay.jpg.. Stable fast VPNs for USA etc connection got to bypass such restrictions .. For most 1080p is great enough.. Others, can get UHD HDR content reliably from elsewhere without resorting to VPNs or DNS services. No biggie..

For those in the market for a decent cheaper box.. I've ordered a Mecool M8S Pro L 4K TV Box with voice remote from China.. Should be delivered latest by month end. Will share purchase link once here and all okay. Hopefully it comes unrooted or cleverly hidden root. Will put it thru its paces and report on how it fares.  nod.gif

You can redeem the movie in UHD (4K) but not able to playback in 4K quality & HDR in the Movies Anywhere application anywhere. That why I said this application for the moment is useless.

The only good is you can watch movies from iTunes in android device but too bad only up to HD and US content only.

VPN is not required in Movies Anywhere. Just registration the Movies Anywhere must be at US. I don't use VPN. None of my apps required VPN.

While it may not be perfect, I think this is a good initiative to aggregate movie libraries from different platforms. I hope it improves and maybe some other platforms will come out and do this much better.
Based on that screenshot, this app does not support 3D, UHD and HDR period. I think the "codes will flow" part refers to purchases made within this app, which means you can buy a movie on the app and have a UHD copy which can be played in UHD in iTunes for example but will still be limited to 1080p in the Movies Anywhere app. At least this is what I understand from that statement.
*
Ya movies anywhere is good but need across global with 4K HDR support. But I think the 4K HDR support a bit difficult especially from Apple as Apple itself only allow playback in 4K HDR using Apple TV 4K. newer iPhone only support HDR but not 4K. PC iTunes only up to HD.

Your understanding is correct. Below elaborate more details on it.

Movies Anywhere can purchase movies from Google Play Movies, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu and also Fandango Now in US account only. Purchase from Movies Anywhere good is sometimes they have special promotion where you can't get from original store itself.

You can't buy from Movies iTunes. Movies iTunes only can link and redeem to allow playback in android system.

Please don't simply said people lie. I don't use VPN. The movies anywhere account I request oversees others forum forumer help me register

Apple iTunes account from others country can register everywhere and no need VPN. US and UK iTunes content I buy using iTunes gift card because I don't have those country residence credit card and using iTunes gift card no need VPN. Playing content from others country iTunes also no need VPN as it can play across country not like Google that troublesome need VPN to across country content.

Whatever need VPN I will find alternate way because I don't want paid additional fees for VPN.

You off course can playback in 4K HDR in original apps but not movies anywhere. The website already mentioned cannot. I own Apple TV 4K and this movies anywhere apps. It only play as HD inside the movies anywhere itself.

The family sharing is iTunes feature and people comment back it did not work. Movies Anywhere website also clearly mentioned not working for family sharing content.

Im looking for a good android box in the range of rm200. I know this is a lowball value but I don't mind getting a second hand unit. The model, if can, able to install various apps like what we install in our android phone, easy to handle, and able to upgrade to latest android for future proof (easy to update like OnePlus, good customer service)

Any model to suggest? Can't wait to hunt this smile.gif
Will use this box for netflix and other streaming services.
*
They is not much TV Box can do proper in Netflix and not in your budget range.

Most Android TV Box only can run Netflix up to SD (480p).
This is due to the device don't have Netflix certification and not support Google’s WideVine L1 (Level 1) DRM.

Below is few support 4K HDR or at least in Full HD. Some may not able to get locally.
  • Nvidia Shield TV 2017 (Android TV OS) - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Apple TV 4K (Apple tvOS) - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Amazon Fire TV Cube (Amazon Fire OS) - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD (Amazon Fire OS) - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Xiaomi Mi Box (Android TV OS) (Malaysia or International Edition) - Netflix up to 4K
  • Zidoo H6 Pro (I think is Android TV OS) - Netflix up to Full HD
  • Beelink GS1 6K (Android OS) - Neflix up to Full HD
  • Beelink A1 (Android OS) - Netflix up to Full HD
More others - https://help.netflix.com/en/node/13444
Even though Xiaomi Mi Box support up to 4K but not all region model and it is half baked, 4K only not 4K HDR (the HDR is still broken).
Probably due to this, it never list in Netflix site.

Some others listing - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Netfl...patible_devices

Beside this,
  • Most New 4K HDR TV - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Most UltraHD Blu-ray Player - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Gaming console PS4 Pro, Xbox One S & Xbox One X - Netflix up to 4K HDR

Andrewtst Sorry for troubling you man. That sure took some real effort to gather all information and arrange them in an orderly manner. Yes my budget is quite low, because I don't want to spend much for Netflix as Astro is still my primary source for series etc atm.

megahertz I read the first post before asking here. And maybe I misunderstood somewhere because I thought that those expensive Android TVs are exclusive for gaming and maybe hard-core stuff like you do normally on your flagship smartphone. That's why i believe even with cheap android tv, you can stream 4k media without a problem.

voncrane No hard feelings bro smile.gif, what you had said is no harsh at all hahaha. I did read before asking here, but Im not really familiar with android tv ecosystem. Never had one. The information on the first page is too in depth for me to understand. Also, a quick google search regarding android tv brought a lot of results with those illegal IPTVS (with android tv recommendation by the seller). I wonder why the recommendation there is different with here. That's why to clarify, I decided to ask for expert opinion here.

Since smartphones are getting cheaper, why not android tv too? That was my mindset before being explained by you guys here.

Sorry for the trouble! Have a nice day
*
They is no trouble getting those information, no worried. smile.gif

Cheap tv box had no issue stream 4K content except Netflix. Netflix need certification and those cheap tv box didn't get certified by Netflix and those not certified box only can do SD quality in Netflix. It is not the box issue but instead control by Netflix.

The cheapest you can get and can playback in 4K quality in Netflix is Mi Box which now cost less than RM 300 but Malaysia official Mi Box no longer selling, you need to get somewhere else with more research because only international edition without altered (no root) box can do that. Just only 4K and unable to display in HDR, this is due to Mi Box HDR is still broken. I think Mi company not going to fix that already since this product already release quite sometimes.
