Hi guys/sifus,

I am new to the Android box arena. I need some help. I have an extra  PC monitor lying around and i want to use android tv box for the monitor.
So I checked, the monitor only has a hdmi input. Now my question is, the monitor abviously CANNOT play the sound via the HDMI stream from the android box. Most android boxes only has hdmi output.

1) How to deal with this issue?

2) Which box would you recommend with budget about RM 300 - RM 400 ? - watching movies and minor gaming only

3) Can use bluetooth headphones with the box?

But I am still confused...if i get speaker, most android tv boxes have only hdmi output.
There is no way to connect the speaker to the box.

Lets say if i get T95Z Plus,
they have HDMI output and also AV output...so according to you,
i can configure the box to output video via HDMI and sound via AV?
Does it work that way?

I don't want to buy, and then cannot use with monitor because of sound issues...will be very sad.
And i can't find people who have similar issues, else i can just tt from them.

I've both many devices with zero reviews from overseas sellers and only had to return just one. The one returned was kinda expected cuz it's one of those "As seen on TV" products with shoddy marketing. Only cost under RM20..got refunded. Yeah noticed both sizes are similarly priced.. I actually don't mind buying it and giving it a try, as long as I can offload it unto someone else with low needs later. If scam as in seller can't send or sends a funny item.. Meh, I know my ways dealing with Lazada CS.. Even better..

I stopped using Kodi for almost a year. It's really frustrating to keep updating sources.

same here...kodi is just to too tedious

now i am relying on standalone apks which are easier to use

yes...initially when setting up kodi for the first time is fun...

but when you have other commitments and barely have free time...then kodi is not fun anymore

To be honest, TV boxes are difficult for elderly people if they are not good with technology. My parents are not well-verse with IT stuff and it is really difficult for them to learn and use. That's why I stick to Astro at home while I use Android box at my own place.

If you intend to find a box which works like Astro, turn on and can straight select channels via remote, there's none. All Android boxes require one to navigate from apps to apps and select from there.

for me quite surprising that we can stream HD items without much buffering compared with those Kodi add-on.

Brothers.. just checked some android box in digital mall here. Some of them giving inputs, was watching what they do aftet buy boxes and extra. Clarified on the boxes.

They saying not all box can support netflix 4k, can install but just plays 720p. Only netflix compatible can play like appletv or nvidea shield.
According to him appletv, want to pay for streaming.
Not open like rest.

Himedia Q10pro seems 4k Uhd dolby supported can install any app. Can insert additional storage.
Default 2gb ram 16gb capacity. Better performance with good wifi antena

Sure, i would have suggested that, except it he wanted ATMOS support.. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the Mecool KM3 better than the KM9 Pro?  .. Why they have to name it as such.. True.. But ayam not like Apple ecosystem.. Too many unnecessary walls and cuddling. I get it some folks just want things handled.. Good for them.. I also don't like Plex either, it's nice, fancy and all.. But I'd rather fetch and play directly a source file.. No transcoding or assists.. Just pass along the raw file and let the AV system do it's work. Speaking of which.. My HT is acting up, time to test HM's extended warranty policy. See if can score a later model for free, if they can't fix it..

I understand.. There's not a single perfect box. TBH, if there isn't a perfect phone or car or even house.. Won't be expecting same from a single box manufacturer. Else, how to sell later and make more profit.. .. Which is why I'm grateful hat I don't have to upgrade my AV equipment just yet. But in a couple years, definitely have to.. Hoping by then that even smarter TVs and decent boxes will be out. So one TV, box, AVR and surround speakers will do all the job nicely.

I too can't speak for splitters.. But there should be at least one splitter that can accurately and reliable transfer the signals from multiple sources to a recriver..no hassle... And with a wireless remote to switch between sources from the couch. Either that.. Or you too have to upgrade to AVR d.. Oh yeah, soundbars....IMO    It's worse than pseudo UHD from Netflix compared to the real thing. But hey, works for you I guess. I wouldn't use such for even DD5.1 audio..

There are ones with IR remote.. This one confirm have.. But as per IR limitations.. Must place the receiver and point...line of sight.. I prefer having things tucked away if can.. So need to search if got Bluetooth or similar type now. Nevertheless, most important is that it does the switches passthrough style.

That's what I thought too. Next year I will move into my own place and plan to buy a 4K TV to enjoy 4K contents. I'm a lazy bum, so won't be doing any downloads. Gotta straight stream 4K shows via Netflix and YouTube, I'm also interested in MiBox as it's Netflix certified and pretty affordable. Since it's not rooted, I will assume it can run Astro Go and UniFi TV app.

Now comes the dilemma, my Minix u1 works perfectly but like you said except it's not Netflix certified. I'm wondering if I should buy a smart TV to run 4K Netflix and YouTube while maintaining the Minix for other purposes. Or just buy a normal 4K TV and Mibox but gotta abandon my Minix. Sigh.

Yeah, because I only watch these two stuffs in 4k. I'm not sure what else out there that has 4k streaming stuff, let's say free legal ones. I only subscribe to Netflix UHD now as I share with three friends.

Sorry to OT a bit, I'm a newbie in TVs, so did you mean I don't even need a Smart TV to run these two apps? Wah, I'm so outdated. If that's the case, I should just buy a normal 4K HDR TV and maintain the Minix U1, correct? This is the best option for me and can save some bucks for better audio.
