Congrats on your ballsy purchase..

As nice as it sounds.. I think you made the wrong move on this. The Apple TV Box as you've seen and will continue to see is really limiting as a media powerhouse, cuz you know Apple style. They always go with beautiful versus power and function. For starters, here be my reasons for never getting one.
*Not and Android OS.. Which means I don't get access to the wonderful ehem apps and features that thrive in an Android OS.
*No auto framerate switching or res mode switching. It always forces you to use your TV at a less than optimal performance. Cuz set at HDR, it fools the TV into thinking it's receiving HDR content and then the TV doesn't use its magic to enhance the pictures properly. Which means video processing is only done by the box and as I've seen, it's pretty awful. Set at lower res and one also loses out on HDR10 or Dolby Vision.
*No support for YouTube's VP9 codec, means limited to 1080p and if it's hardware related.. Means, it'll never support YouTube 4K HDR. This is an issue that also affects Safari on the Mac and iOS devices too. So don't get our hopes up. Huge no no given as YouTube is one of, if not the biggest source for free 4K content.
*No support for audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X yet.
*There's NO USB port.. Which means, can't connect ext hard drives or thumb drives to play content. It doesn't even have a diagnostic port. Which is way worse cuz if it faces a fatal software error, you can't plug it to a PC and force a firmware restore or enter recovery mode.
I guess if one is heavily invested in the iTunes media library and doesn't mind only streaming legit stuffs.. Guess it's okay. IMO, at its RM1K price point.. I would have sold off the MiBox and topped up to get the Nvidia Shield 2 with larger capacity instead. Significantly more powerful and capable as a media or gaming device. My 2 cents to those who'd like to know.

I still got my Mi Box which means Android OS still with me. I connect both and still will using both. Which means I still able access to Astro GO, iFlix, Dimsum and some ahem apps but those never is my priority use. I only check ahem if the content I want not available to purchase or subscribe.
Auto framerate switching is there and it is working perfectly. Set at 4K is optimum to me as I also set my Mi Box in 4K. My TV is 4K. They is no need set at lower resolution and what for I need it. The processor itself is over powerful and can handle 1080p content play in 4K resolution and this is a better way handling the content.
HDR and SDR is auto switch already in latest firmware, I already mentioned this. Apple TV 4K give you option now and not force everything in HDR. Also Apple TV 4K Box is the only support Dolby Vision and off course it auto revert to HDR10 if your TV not support Dolby Vision.
Sound not support Dolby Atmos or DTX and I know this is cons for a lot people but this never concern me cause I only use TV speaker. I never care on this because I watch movie at night and don't want annoy neighbour.
No USB port not an issue because I got no content to play from HDD. I not support ehem, that why you see I don't use Kodi much, those ahem apps I install at Mi Box also very very rare open because I buy original Blu-ray, Ultra Blu-ray, Playstore movies, iTunes movies, subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, iFlix, Dimsum and VIKI Rakuten. I prefer legit content.

I don't consider get Nvidia Shield because I read even under Oreo it still can't auto switch framerate, color space and even in between SDR and HDR in most apps. No issue on Kodi but Kodi is my very least open apps. Only got icrama in my Mi Box Kodi and until now I only watch half episode of one of the tv series and never open anymore.
