Yes.. That should be a final resort. See, I don't BS you.. The life of a completely free cord-cutter is significantly harder than an Asterruk subscriber. Cuz you see, you pay them to worry about all the crap that as a freeloader, you have to worry about. Plus you get a dedicated CS team to rant too if issues and they send a techy over for more hands-on cases. Now, this is not to say you can't get similar results, but really, there's no 100% true replacement and cuz of this, Asterruk will continue to remain in business.
What you should focus more on, is getting the right box that is capable of running the apps and or services you intend to use. From reading this thread, you'll see that most of the discussions revolve around that... There be lots of ehem iptv providers out there. Got sellers even in garage sales sections.. Rest you google a bit and sure turn up.. My advice, don't sign up for those one-time or yearly plans just yet. Get one that allows a trial period (typically 24 hours - 3 days) or buy for a month and test hard.. if satisfactory, then continue paying or switch to another. You will eventually find the most reliable/pocket-friendly service. Then stick with em till they eventually mess up.. Rinse - Repeat..
Edit: In response to the spoon-feeding part.. Yes, its an unwritten rule of any public forum that's worth their salt. Imagine every single week or so, at least one person walks in...asking the exact same question and have to reply over and over again.. When the answer is already public. At least consider the TS who must have taken hours if not days to compile research scattered all over the place to put in the first page.. Public forums are made public for a reason .. People come in and share stuff willing and don't get paid.. Most mods here work for free too. So yes, it would be unwise to treat this as one's personal concierge service. Cuz it's not.. Want that.. Hire a PA and let them crawl the internet for you. Else, put in the work as all noobs did once upon a time.. Myself included.
