Yup, I'm aware.. Just thought it's a different device as he says RTM channel works..  hmm.gif
Similar search by most in here.... There's no "TV Box".. Only boxes capable of running certain apps that are in turn capable of accessing certain content.. In the meantime, see page title. Return when you require less spoonfeeding.

TLDR... This is a thread about boxes and not illegal IPTV..

Bruh.. Read my post again.. There is no iptv box.. If you read page one, you'd immediately understand what I'm talking about. If you want to know what device I primarily use? It's the Minix Neo U1. If you like buy it. But don't be surprised if it ships as stock as possible with minimal apps and definitely no iptv app. Cuz that's how Minix rolls. Doesn't mean it's incapable of running certain apps..

Again.. Read the frickin page one and understand.. sweat.gif

most ppl come in here which tv box to recommend without reading page 1 are totally absurd.

it is because they saw too much fb ads selling tv box range from rm3xx to rm5xx with caption including 2000 over channels all around the world. then they go lazada and search tv box and saw there are many tv box just selling rm1xx.

guess what next? they want the cheapest, most channels, most stable and working over long period, and some might want it to be simple for old folks.

let's face the truth:
1. THERE ARE NO SUCH TV BOX.

2. those includes astro channels are ILLEGAL STREAM. you want those "FREE" astro channels, just proceed order from the ads that you saw. guarantee works? that's depends on that seller. THE SELLER EARN YOUR MONEY AND HE/SHE IS THE ONE WHO RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO YOU, NOT ANYONE OF US HERE, WE DON'T EARN YOUR MONEY.

3. you want anything simple easy stable, please subscribe astro.

4. you want to install legal or illegal streaming apps BY YOURSELF, but don't know what tv box to get, yes here is the right place.

Dear sifu, kindly advise where can I get original global version Android TV Mibox?

Initially wanna buy from Mi Malaysia but sold out quite fast and never restock... Saw some sellers on Lazada but can't confirm are those really vanilla global version or not.

I have tried google around and it seems currently only Mibox, Nvidia Shield and Razer Forge officially supports Android TV. The latter two are definitely out of my budget and too overkill and limited availability in Malaysia.

Some background story:
Few months back I fed up waiting for Mi Malaysia restock so I purchased a China set Mibox with Galaxy TV and managed to root it to Android TV.

Everything works fine except:
1) Netflix is only capped to Low Quality streaming and occasionally refused to play video and it's quite slow
2) Chromecast malfunction.
3) Remote control doesn't support voice input

Other apps (self-installed apk like Chrome, Firefox, Easysurf VPN, Pxxxhub) and Google Play Store (Spotify, Youtube) work fine though.

UPDATE:
Forumer ckweng suggested this Lazada seller in this thread , he bought from this seller previously and confirmed it's global version.
Gonna buy and try it out!

Nope. I'm using it and watching WC on it while replying you here.
You cannot find the app on Play Store as it only supports certain models, even my LG V30+ also can't see this app in the Store. You will need to sideload the apk. I'm using version 8.2.1 if I'm not mistaken.

Honestly, I think this app is meant to be used on mobile devices.. It's never meant for Android boxes. So, we should feel grateful it allows sideload app. laugh.gif

It's just funny even I can't find on LG V30+ and OnePlus 3T too. Anyway, I don't want to argue much since Astro Go is a sensitive app which not all devices will work flawlessly. I'm already happy it's working with my U1. laugh.gif

Im looking for a good android box in the range of rm200. I know this is a lowball value but I don't mind getting a second hand unit. The model, if can, able to install various apps like what we install in our android phone, easy to handle, and able to upgrade to latest android for future proof (easy to update like OnePlus, good customer service)

Any model to suggest? Can't wait to hunt this smile.gif
Will use this box for netflix and other streaming services.

If i read correctly, your primary is Netflix? If so then you'll best get a box able to stream Netflix HD 1080 at least, most boxes out there not able except for 2 handful of them. And yes it can be obtained for less than RM200 and they'll drop in 4k Youtube as well

They is not much TV Box can do proper in Netflix and not in your budget range.

Most Android TV Box only can run Netflix up to SD (480p).
This is due to the device don't have Netflix certification and not support Google’s WideVine L1 (Level 1) DRM.

Below is few support 4K HDR or at least in Full HD. Some may not able to get locally.
  • Nvidia Shield TV 2017 (Android TV OS) - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Apple TV 4K (Apple tvOS) - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Amazon Fire TV Cube (Amazon Fire OS) - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD (Amazon Fire OS) - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Xiaomi Mi Box (Android TV OS) (Malaysia or International Edition) - Netflix up to 4K
  • Zidoo H6 Pro (I think is Android TV OS) - Netflix up to Full HD
  • Beelink GS1 6K (Android OS) - Neflix up to Full HD
  • Beelink A1 (Android OS) - Netflix up to Full HD
More others - https://help.netflix.com/en/node/13444
Even though Xiaomi Mi Box support up to 4K but not all region model and it is half baked, 4K only not 4K HDR (the HDR is still broken).
Probably due to this, it never list in Netflix site.

Some others listing - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Netfl...patible_devices

Beside this,
  • Most New 4K HDR TV - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Most UltraHD Blu-ray Player - Netflix up to 4K HDR
  • Gaming console PS4 Pro, Xbox One S & Xbox One X - Netflix up to 4K HDR

Since you refused to read the first page and others have been nice enough to you. Allow me to be the brutal no shitz fellow.. RM200 is way too low for what you want.. That's less than $50 and you expect the world.. Where can.. Basically, you want to buy a second hand Axia base variant and expect it to be fully moddable and able to take steep corners, going up a hill and at 150KM/h..without turtling.. All I can say is good luck and when you do find such a deal.. Please return and share.. laugh.gif

Thanks for the reply! I believe this is my to go android tv device. Did a research about it, 1080p on this thing is flawless and 4k 30fps is okay which is a bonus to me. 4k features are only for future-proof purposes.

Andrewtst Sorry for troubling you man. That sure took some real effort to gather all information and arrange them in an orderly manner. Yes my budget is quite low, because I don't want to spend much for Netflix as Astro is still my primary source for series etc atm.

megahertz I read the first post before asking here. And maybe I misunderstood somewhere because I thought that those expensive Android TVs are exclusive for gaming and maybe hard-core stuff like you do normally on your flagship smartphone. That's why i believe even with cheap android tv, you can stream 4k media without a problem.

voncrane No hard feelings bro smile.gif, what you had said is no harsh at all hahaha. I did read before asking here, but Im not really familiar with android tv ecosystem. Never had one. The information on the first page is too in depth for me to understand. Also, a quick google search regarding android tv brought a lot of results with those illegal IPTVS (with android tv recommendation by the seller). I wonder why the recommendation there is different with here. That's why to clarify, I decided to ask for expert opinion here.

Since smartphones are getting cheaper, why not android tv too? That was my mindset before being explained by you guys here.

Sorry for the trouble! Have a nice day

Glad no hard feelings..cuz none here too. That's the thing we keep battling here every week. People Google or are told of "iptv boxes" and expect a lot when in reality majority of such devices are simply garbage boxes bought on the cheap and some app or apps installed...to the bad sellers, profit is their top priority (understandably so) and not performance or PQ. So as long as those IPTV apps work somewhat and in the moment, they've fulfilled their obligation and don't care for anything else. Only a few sellers would bother about hardware and firmware first before apps compatibility. Newbies need to understand that buying a box is like buying cars.. All cars can do basic stuff, A-B, but do that basic stuff differently. Veterans understand these and we've been through the testing/noob stage and come out a bit wiser as will you too. Since you are considering the Pro W, I advise you hold off a bit for a my pov mini-review of the Pro L in a couple days. icon_rolleyes.gif

They is no trouble getting those information, no worried. smile.gif

Cheap tv box had no issue stream 4K content except Netflix. Netflix need certification and those cheap tv box didn't get certified by Netflix and those not certified box only can do SD quality in Netflix. It is not the box issue but instead control by Netflix.

The cheapest you can get and can playback in 4K quality in Netflix is Mi Box which now cost less than RM 300 but Malaysia official Mi Box no longer selling, you need to get somewhere else with more research because only international edition without altered (no root) box can do that. Just only 4K and unable to display in HDR, this is due to Mi Box HDR is still broken. I think Mi company not going to fix that already since this product already release quite sometimes.

Newbie here in android tv box. Bought mecool m8s pro L and been using for 2 days. Astr0 Go V8.21 found in aptoide tv store works. It may crash if u open the app with default remote. Need to use mouse. I don’t have air mouse yet.
Smooth experience so far overall. Yet to try those paid ahem illegal iptv as sifu here said they are on and off unstable.
