Hi all
My dad juz informed me he bought this via ambank
ASIA PACIFIC EQUITY INCOME

I believe is this
https://www.fundsupermart.com.my/main/fundi...Income-MYAMAPEI

And he opted for reinvest for d income distribution

Since I have no idea nor knowledge, I'm asking if he make a good investment.
Since it's rated at high risk and not approved by epf and I'm getting worried

However

According to him, he bought 3 years ago and now profit around 20k++
*
the consensus view here at LYN FSM thread is CIMB Dynamic fund as the main proxy for exposure to the Asia-Pacific ex Japan geo region.

Your daddy's selection suxs!

CIMB Dynamic growth fund or we nickname it Ponzi two, gave a return an average of 15.5% per annum over the past three years whereas your daddy's suxs fund return only 9.98% per annum. Furthermore the volatility aka riskiness of the fund for Ponzi two is lower than your daddy's suxs fund.

Today is end of July 2017. It seems that July 2017 is a good month. I have not tally my portfolio yet, usually I do it last day of the month. However, looking at the numbers as of today, it is gonna be a very good month.

Biggest gain is still TA - GTF followed by Selina and Esther.

Haha people are not confused. People intentionally want to perform trading. They know trading is different from investing.

And using UTF as the platform for trading? Not efficient, not efficient at all....

It is like an algo trader trying to trade on index linked counter. Where got syiok wan?

Hi Folks!

We had some intereting discussion so far. I shall, over the weekend try to tinker with Algozen™ ver four and try to answer some pertinent questions, such as:

i) Is ManuReits better than Selina? Is Ramjade call better than the crystal - ball?

ii) Is Interpac Dana Safi (IDS) still worth to go in? IDS versus KGF, who wins?

iii) What should my portfolio consist off? Lu ala manyak wang kah? Apa lu mau beli?

So I will try to answer some of the above questions using my crystal - ball over the weekend....

Precisely, you are locked inside your own stereotype.

By the way, I am not saying UT is the best vehicle to trade. I am not even saying that I agree with it. As pointed out by sifu Xuzen, using UT to trade is inefficient. So this is typically doomed to fail for most funds and for most people.

But there could be some exceptions. This happens when some funds have big step gain. Plus there is zero entry cost and zero exit cost. Management fees is taken care off if the step gain is big. Plus if the person is able to spot trend. Plus .....

There are many conditions for it So we maybe talking about this is one example of an exceptional case.
*
Precisely, there are so many conditions to make sure this method work. It is like sure some low ranking tennis players had from the past beat top ranking player such as Nadal or Federer. But the question is, can they do it consistently or are they a one hit wonder?

Algozen™ ver four Aug 2017 reading:
Expected portfolio return is 14% with a standard deviation / volatility of 5%. Risk to reward ratio = 2.8

The ports consist of:

1) Esther Bond @ 25%
2) RHB EMB @ 20%
3) Tech fund @ 30%
4) ManuReits @ 10%
5) Safi @ 15% or KGF @ 15%, if you are gung-ho, go with Safi, if you are skeptical and prefer a UTF with more repo then, go for KGF.

Yup, only five out of total 12 UTFs considered. A non-Pokémon style port.

*** Note: Yes Ramjade, I am dumping Selina in lieu of Manureits. I am still skeptical about its 52% concentration risk in one single country, that is S'pore. However, this latest port only allocate 10% in reits, hence I think the risk is acceptable, given the small exposure ***

Avangelice, RHB AIF is a coding glitch and has been fixed since. RHB EMB is still in.

The full list of UTF I used to input into Algozen™ ver four are:

a) Eastspring Dinasti
b) Lee Sook Yee
c) One hit wonder @ Safi
d) India
e) Selina Reits
f) RHB AIF
g) RHB ATRF
h) RHB EMB
I) Tech fund
j) Manureit
K) Europe
I) Esther bond
(12 individual UTF representing diverse geo and asset class)

QUOTE(HahaCat @ Jul 29 2017, 02:23 PM)
Is there a diff between a person who invested in unit trust successfully and made 14% per anum yoy and a person who is successful in making a lot of money?

Scenario 1: Mr AV put Rm1K a month into fund A for 10 years. It grew 14% p.a annualized. He made Rm249K. Enough to buy a Toyota Camry Rm150K and rennovate his home 70K and go for a good holiday to Europe Rm29K.

Scenario 2: Mr KC knows if he invest in fund A. He can make an annualized 14% per annum yoy. He is confident. He refinanced his house, top up, to get RM250K. He has to pay interest of 4.5% (Term Loan Reducing Balance) The loan tenure is 30 years. Every month he has to pay Rm937 instalment. He put RM250K into fund A, same as Mr. AV. 10 years later at 14% p.a, he will have RM926K in his portfolio.

Beyond this 10 years, there are 20 more years to go before this two young men retire. Who is a more successful unit trust investor? At 14% pa, maybe both also successful. But who made more money and became a more successful investor?
*
Scenario 2 has a big "IF". IF he makes a good call = YAY rclxm9.gif ; If he makes a bad call = doh.gif .

So are you feelin' lucky punk?

Xuzen

p/s Again, after time and time again, you still are unable to tell the difference between investing and trading.

GTF can be Global Technology fund or Global Titan fund.

I suggest to avoid confusing noobs, use TA - GTF or TA - Tech or just plain "tech fund" whereas use Titanic or Titan to refer to CIMB - Global Titan Fund.

What do you all think?

I think if you are in it for the long run, you have to re-think about the opportunity cost. Imagine if you are really lucky, managed to time the market, get 200% return from your lump sum investment when the market finally turns bull.
Are you going to cash out everything and wait for the next big crash?
I think this strategy would only work if you are a one-hit wonder who retures after the first break. However, I do agree that we need a war chest but not a war chest which is equivalent to our supposedly entire portfolio.

Never time the market and catch a falling dagger. Coz you might not be able to catch it every time.
The best time to invest is not now, it's yesterday. I would recommend staying invested.

But that's just me and my risk appetite. Someone else might have a different investing philosophy which is hugely successful. Bon Appétit.
*
And it is shown mathematically, the future value of any investment is linearly related to the ROI, whereas it is exponentially related to time invested. Even if you get a mediacore return but compounded over time will win over a large ROI but compounded over a short time.

Remember folks: Speculate for syiok sendiri, compound it or real return.

Toking kok is gud thumbsup.gif

Or else how would this LYN - FSM thread grow so big? If no tok - kok, we would be like that other UTF thread... still stuck at ver one nia...

I already stated from day one, I am on wrap account, I can switch 365 times in a year also won't kena one single cents of sales or switching charge. I do it because I can....

And if you do recall I have previously given the simile of the pony express analogy....remember that.

A why not? Think about it for a moment...

Aren't we here a bunch of nobody's sharing our life experience on UTF investing? All of you here are investing your money, not mine. Why should you listen to another? If you think another person makes sense and follow his style of investing and make money, then go ahead and enjoy.

The giver of any advise here do not earn a single commission nor have any ulterior motive other than to share life experiences.

And why do you think it is your business that another must follow your dictation? Lighten up dude, it is just a f*cking forum. Why so serious?

All the maths are nice, great and well defined. However, when use it to predict the future, the history may not want to repeat itself.

Are you in business?

For example, if you are a sales person, surely you must have use some sort of forecasting tools to predict / forecast your sales budget to your bosses?

Be it linear regression, trend forecasting etc....

Are you gonna say the above to your boss face, that is, "Boss, f*ck sales budgeting, history may not want to repeat itself anyway, what is the use of forecasting my next year sales figure?"
