Just worries that it's a bear market correction n not really a sustainable bull
*
It won’t be a secular bull run but a bumpy bull run with minor dips

Ok noted.

Yes, your second statement is what worries a lot.
*
That is why you never buy new launches and also why the fund houses always give you promo on it because to tempt you to buy

When you buy new launches you need to find out what is the underlying assets that they buy before diving deep in

Don’t buy the funds just because fee sales charge or added units as it is tempt you

They used to do that when buy new launches they will give added promo units is one of the tactic they love to use for it

Hi again,

I have a technical question. We know that REIT funds/stocks give regular distributions. At the same time, some funds (eg KGF) actually invested in these REIT via their collective investment scheme. But why these funds do not give regular distributions? Where did the distributions go to?

Thanks.
*
Even KGF received dividends from REITs it will not be distributed back to the holders because you are not directly holdings the REITs hence you are not entitled to it 🤦‍♀️

It will goes to CIS pool whereby under cash and the fund manager and committee will have the discretion on whether to pool into the units or redistribute back via the dividends schedule as they see fit

As the RHB cash management fund in FSM yielded quite high interest p.a., would it be wise we just keep cash in this fund instead of, say, FD?
*
Don’t bother RHB CMF better off putting into KDI or Versa instead as the rates are higher than RHB 🤦‍♀️

Is there any recommended affin hwang unit trust that’s worth looking into?

Thanks.
*
It is now called AHAM now since they been took over by CVC

Cheaper to buy directly the funds from them directly as they will give out vouchers every now and then

Only time to buy from FSM when they have 0% sales charge promo

Sales charge not 5.5%?
*
Depends on the fund itself

5.5% is the maximum is allowed to charge under the deed approved by SC

No one is crazy enough to buy at that SC 🤦‍♀️

How much % of Sales charges for an equity focused unit trust fund if buy direct from AHAM?
*
Standard is 1.5% but with vouchers if you’re lucky it will be free of SC

Last time, I used allocate plus to buy affin hwang, somehow they disabled the app last year July. Since then, I used fsm to buy as they provide 1.5% sales charge.

Between, how do you  get 1.5% by purchase equity funds direct from AHAM?
*
I buy direct through a contact in AHAM and plus since I have been long time customers hence they will charge me that on my existing funds

Also I got tonnes of those vouchers

Other readers do take notes,
for normal people, buying direct from AHAM would be more expensive than direct from FSM.
AHAM would be abt 5+% sc, while FSM would be less than 2% sc.
Check the AHAM fundfactsheet for details compare and  check with FSM site.
*
That is why you need to get voucher otherwise it won’t be cheap 🤦‍♀️

Actually till today I still don’t know how to properly assess and choose fund to invest in.
Yeah.. i have i access, vouchers no whr to be found. So yeah, not everyone has it.
*
Add to cart 1st before checking out as it will prompt you to add voucher if any 🤦‍♀️

Buying the funds is easy but you need to know what risks and time horizons are you comfortable at

Also look for big AUM funds for stability while smaller AUM tend to be riskier and can be replaced and switch by Fund houses itself if it is not making money or fund is not performing

Hope sifu here can enlightened me either is worth to park fund here or still kdi better
*
Don’t bother as the liquidity itself not as good as KDI 🤦‍♀️

Unless you got excess from KDI and Versa then by all means go ahead

Political aside, what are your thoughts between Greater China fund vs China fund?

I have a Greater China fund and thinking of switching to a 'pure' China fund but worry of 'losing' Taiwanese stocks. So do you think nowadays the line between these funds are still that clear (since China, HK and Taiwan are all under China anyway....)?
*
The best if you check on the annual report on the holdings for better clarity but the lines should be quite blurred on their strategies

Yes, there are many overlaps in terms of stocks actually. BUt 'pure' Chinese fund put less focus in US though.
*
Pure China funds should have only A shares denominated but you need for the strategies outline in the report for clearer pictures

Dont think this will happen. Will kill off the liqudity in the bond market, which will then be bad for economic growth.

But then again, PH has a track record of stupid decisions..so who knows?
*
Unlikely will happen because Bonds are big game in Malaysia

If that the case even FI will be badly affected as most of the holders are retirees who held lots of bonds as well

PH sometimes act before they think just like luxury tax until now they cannot define what is luxury products till today 🤦‍♀️

*
Not worth as you are paying extra brokerage together with stamp duty 🤦‍♀️

Ibkr and if you have concern about it and rather have Malaysia broker MIDF invest or Rakuten then

You're right. We just buy these funds with the hope that the Fund Manager knows what he/she is doing! biggrin.gif
*
You should check whether the fund manager is buying on their own or through 3rd party advice

But iinm most Malaysia China UT funds are feeder funds hence you are buying on 3rd party advice 🤦‍♀️
