Better way is to top up monthly or at least quarterly. In the beginning of my investment journey in fsm i always topup monthly even if its rm100 or 200.. its only last year i didnt manage to top up monthly, but still did it every 3 months.

Unless something catastrophic happens, you cant time the fund. Its bound to have some up n downs.. so better jus average out. Reits funds are safe bets if u ask me, quite confirm better than fd returns biggrin.gif

Which Asia Pac fund? Any shortlisted few?
Not much idea either on which sector to invest for Malaysia, looking at Eastspring Investments Small-cap Fund maybe.

Principal Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund - MYR

Affin Hwang Select Asia (Ex Japan) Opportunity Fund - MYR

I have these.
you can go through their returns, and will notice if not for 2018's double digit negative returns (-13% for Opportunity, -11% for Dynamic), the total return will have gone past +60% from 5 year's investment.

2017 was an exceptional year, both has +20+%. then 2018 -10+%  ranting.gif . 2019 was great too (+16% Opportunity, +19% for Dynamic).
This year my biggest holding is in this (for dividend play). But high exposure in china, 20+%.

Wonderful sharing. My biggest performance fund so far is the Manulife U.S Equity at around 13 Plus %. I could have adjusted my other portfolio to capitalise on the gain but did not do that by oct/nov last year.
Going to also have a look at both funds above.

Isn't it too late to pull out that now already trending low?

Shouldn't we cabut when high and dump in when low?
*
Of course now is too late already. It's time to top up now not pull out. Pull out is best on last Monday/Tuesday when market starts to drop, so that you get your profit.

The S&P 500 tumbled 8% at opening on Monday, triggering an automatic 15-minute halt of Wall Street's three main indexes for the third time in six days.

I seriously don't think Malaysia based fund is a good place to park your money except for bonds and fix income.

Even during 2018/2019, the klci index fell while US and the rest of the world were booming.

I'm predicting that even Malaysia will recover slower than the rest of the world especially with such low oil prices.
Unless oil prices shoot up.
*
Be ware that bon is dropping slowly. I sold off Ambond few days ago to temporary park at moneymarket until the situation recover.

In this time of uncertainty, don't go all in. do it by stages. Should another crash happen you can slowly pump in more. Or do DCA method and don't care about up or down.

No wonder AmChina A share fund is not considered by Algozen™ ver four. I excluded wholesale fund from its selection criteria. When I wrote the programming, I had the view that it would is meant for the everyday Joe Rakyat investors. That is why I exclude wholesale fund.

I am answering a private message but instead of answering it privately, I have decided to answer it for public sharing.

At 70% fixed income in my port, yes it is considered darn conservative but I took this position since Q4Y2019 when I see the parameters ( vol up, sharp down & ROI also down ) of the various UTs in the FSM universe goes south and south and south. After consulting my good friend Algozen™ ver four; she advised me to take this position. I concurred.

Even though with this my position; when Covid19 hit in early 2020 the US and China centric UTFs were almost wipe out. Imagine what will happen if I did not take the 70% FI position. Even with Reits which are theoretically suppose to be safe asset, also got hit hard. This Covid19 is a true Black Swan Event.

Right now, I am slowly increasing my China exposure; there is no hurry as I slowly add into China. As for US, I remain neutral for the time being. As for Reits, I am reducing slowly in favour of Bonds. For those who don't know my play style, I don't move all at once usually, I will move it in tranche.

Happy to share, may all benefit and make money.

Xuzen

p/s legend: China = CIMB Greater China, US = RHB GS US Equity, Reits = Manureits & FI = CIMB Bond Amanahraya Shariah Trust

Does your Algozenâ„¢ ver four open for some kind of public access? If not it's ok, just asking.
