Looking at the Fund Factsheet, I not very comfortable investing in countries like Turkey, Kazak, Paki or Russia, altho one can argue the weightage on the low side for these countries. But I more than happy to invest in China, Korea, Taiwan & HK tho.

So in the end, I stay with Principal Greater China, haha.
*
LOL higher the risk greater the returns.....yeah but those countries are a little spicy

wow ...while waiting for sifu's input just my 2 cents
If your target is to have a moderate to a balanced portfolio, its always good to have some bonds to weather risk off times.
All funds . sectors and regions go through cycles...we invest, not trade unit trust.

Obviously, if you generalize it, there are many funds which outperform this fund or many other funds in PM. We were discussing about funds investing in Vietnam. You are diverting away from the topic.

I am aware of the high sales charge in PM. Please suggest a fund in FSM that is investing in Vietnam. Thanks.
*
I am not in any way suggesting anyone to do the same. I already have a portfolio on PM spanning close to two decades. And its short sighted to say that someone would invest into this fund based on the return of this year alone. Its about tapping into the potential of Vietnam. Whether you believe Vietnam have a growth rate far exceeding Malaysia on the long run.

I do believe in Vietnam. It will be the next Asian tiger. Eagerly waiting for Vietnam focus funds to be launched here.

Yes, it there is one in FSM I would put my money there too. But now PM is the only option available to me and it was time to rebalance. So the choice was made.

Sovereign wealth funds pulled $4.1 billion from United States stocks in the third quarter, while adding to their U.S. bond holdings by the most in at least three years, data showed on Wednesday.

“The goal was to restore liquidity to the credit markets,” Yardeni said. “They are clearly functioning well again. If the Fed persists in flooding the markets with liquidity, the risk is that the Fed will create the greatest financial bubble of all times.”

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/22/the-feds-co...bble-fears.html

Feds pumping money into bonds and ETFs to prop up the economy. They are pumping money into companies that are walking dead. Do take note of another new stimulus package soon to be approved. More money printed

Bond yields are damn low, and USD going to lose value. If you hold US bonds in USD denominations .....run.

Not sure will this news has any impact on healthcare funds but looking into Pfizer shares this year, it shoot up early Dec and now it drops back down. Shouldn’t Pfizer shares move upwards? Thinking about putting some savings into healthcare too

Just my 2 cents, I am super cautious at this point about US in general. Markets are up just because of the money printed. Not due to stong earning. And many big investment managers are talking about profit-taking and rotating to the current extremely undervalued sector: commodities.

Like i said when everyone is doing it, then you have to be really scared. The big investment managers might rotate leaving retail investors in the dust. Remember late 2018.

late 2018, as in dec 2018? lol the tariff man  biggrin.gif
https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/201...20as%20of%20Dec.

this might shed some light what caused the dip tho, most dip happen throughout 2016 to late 2019 is due to trump, specifically trade war

you are scared now? what you do to protect yourself when the crash come?
*
I remember it well and was also pointed out in your article. Big fishes roated away from FANG looking for value stocks.
"All the year’s gains were erased on Nov. 20. Although tech stocks were behind much of 2018’s market growth, concerns over subdued earnings and regulatory fears led to a sell-off of large tech companies. "

Nah, i am not invested directly in stocks, just keep invested but save some cash at hand for opportunities.

my mother recently received an inheritance, and she is kinda clueless in how to manage the money.
so about 60% of my mother's money is in FD, the rest in bank's SA.
so I'm helping her to invest in funds rather than sitting in bank's SA.

Out of the money she agreed to let me invest for her,
20% in AmanahRaya Syariah Trust Fund
3% in United Global Healthcare Fund - Class A - MYR Acc

any recommendation for long term investment? (>8years)
I was looking at about 20%-30% in fixed income, since she already put most of her money in FD

Nah, i think you guys are over reacting and you have been focusing on the wrong part.

"Your activity of giving investment advice is likely to require a license under the CMSA, if that activity is considered as carrying on a business"

I am not running any consulting and i am not affiliated to any Fund house. Bragging on stock picks is not a crime, just makes you an a$$hole tongue.gif
If someone is affiliated to FSM *wink**wink* and has been giving advice or promoting certain funds then care should be given
