The only CPU I'm interested in (and probably can only afford ) is 1500X... Can't wait to see how if works in Total War games (which has never been AMD CPU friendly before).
If it performs on par with i5 7600 then it's sure buy from me. |

This can result in higher performance for latency-sensitive applications. We resolved a condition where an unusual FMA3 code sequence could cause a system hang. We resolved the “overclock sleep bug” where an incorrect CPU frequency could be reported after resuming from S3 sleep. AMD Ryzen Master no longer requires the High-Precision Event Timer (HPET).” That last bullet point is especially notable for gamers who want to squeeze more performance out of their Ryzen PCs. Overclocking your system and disabling HPET are two key tricks to maximizing Ryzen PC performance, so having AMD’s own Ryzen Master overclocking software dependent upon HPET was a bit of a bummer. Couldn't find one for R5 1500X. No benchmark on Total War though. |

QUOTE(nkl5499 @ Apr 10 2017, 08:52 PM) I think most Ryzen stuck at 4.0ghz for OC, it wont much different since 1400 already OCed to 3.8ghz just the gap would be closer. Too bad. Since I primarily only plays Total War, I think I should stick with i5. Only another video I saw, ryzen 7 even got beated by i5s for Total War. |

Is this one ok ?
Ryzen 5 1500X + Gigabyte AB350M-DS2 ? What's the fastest RAM can support ? Planned to pair with RX 480 (or RX 580 when it comes out). Target to complete build by September. |

QUOTE(eDwanD @ Apr 17 2017, 05:22 PM) Check mobo lates memory QVL at official site to confirm, cause every mobo bios will result different of support memory. Same 3000mhz memory would come in different result. The mobo listed up to 3200 ram but subject to CPU. I think I read somewhere that 1500X may have issues with more than 3000 ram?B350 mobo is ok for daily OC usage, if need 24/7, better go to X370. For B350 chipset, MSI/ASUS/ASROCK > Gigabyte under VRM quality. I list the mobo aincw it's the cheapest I can find. |

As suspected, AMD still perform poorly compared to Intel in Total War. However, considering that R5 1500X have 8 threads compared to either i5-7400 or i5-7500 it's still a good choice. Just hope that AMD CPU will follow AMD GPU driver/updates wise. |

Anyone played Total War Warhammer with Ryzen? Would love to see some benchmark. Not much of youtube. Even older Total War titles is also fine.
The reason I want to see Warhammer is that, compared to previous games, this game actually takes advantage when using more cores. Saw last time the comparison between i5k and i7k with same speed where there"s significant advantage when using i7 compared to previous titles where tjere almoat no different between i5 and i7 8 their speed is the same. QUOTE(TristanX @ Aug 27 2017, 01:43 PM) Not much advantage Thanks. I've seen those. What I'm looking for now are the real user experience. Pretty hard to find in Total War forums since traditionally the games works best with Intel CPU. https://www.techspot.com/review/1386-amd-ry...1400/page5.html https://www.techspot.com/review/1463-ryzen-...ming/page2.html No current data for Ryzen 7 but latest patch looks like it gains 10%. https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/247141-t...ive-ryzen-patch Trying to find some benchmark for 1500X or 1600 to replace my old i5 3570. Currently getting stable 30 fps with almost everything on ultra (except shadows). |

QUOTE(svfn @ Aug 27 2017, 02:58 PM) the engine still not optimized to use more than 4 cores. if you have 1k to spend, better to get GTX 1060 or above to replace your R7 260X than replacing CPU. this will allow you to play at 60FPS instead of 30FPS @1080p. I bought RX 560 4GB. I wanted 470 or 570 but no stock when I went to lowyat couple weeks ago.Dont really need 60 fps for me (TW games). 30 is enough. But campaign map now uses up to 6 gb ram now (battlws still around 3.5 gb) so maybe I'll wait until got 580 stock back and price is more reasonable. |
