Here you can see for gaming, intel's power consumption and heat isnt as high as assumed (infact most reviews never show gaming temps and powerdraw). But cant say the same for rendering. So in the end If you going to do alot of CPU heavy tasks that will load it to max for long periods of time, then no doubt AMD. But if casual gaming/browsing or even ironically as a low power HTPC, intel is still a pretty solid choice.

My electric bill was pretty high with Ryzen because of the foobar2K music player caused it to go 4.0ghz max load which went unnoticed for a while which i tend to play music at the background as I work... imagine for 7+ hours a day for 4 months, the pc was drawing 100W+ from the wall constantly running 80C. Only started to notice when I upgraded to gtx1070 ITX and my 400w flex PSU started to scream which got me to monitor the powerdraw and finally noticed it.

Here's mine, playing FLAC using Foobar2000 with WASAPI, Chrome with >50 tabs, few programs open but idling.
FLAC is not CPU intensive even for my more than 2 years old CPU.

nicely sipping 8~w with 10+ tabs on chrome and gskill software, steam, epic launcher, afterburner running. ram at 4266mhz a ram kit that cost almost double the price I paid for my 10600K ambient is 30C-31C. Inside an ITX case with only a 120mm aio.

foobar forever haha, been using it since early 2000s with the same theme and setup  not gonna change as I have added a bunch of my self developed plugins in it as well. mostly to reduce "placebo" latencies such as my volume slider is locked to windows mixer volume. only AMD had forced me to use the disgusting itunes.

I was more hardcore back then. with desktop DAC and tube Amps etc. Now im happy with just a SMSL M3 mini USB DAC. audio tech has came a long way and can get good sound with very little money. I actually spend most of my money buying CDs. Especially whenever I go to japan's tower records hahaha sure whack a bunch back of japanese pressed CDs.

nope…not placebo…really can spot the difference between the players even with WASAPI output.

- Intel bracket Aluminum CPU cooler... will need to change to another Intel Cooler...

Is Foobar hard to use than other program? I been using for many years so maybe used to it's settings, etc. But I see if just to create playlist and add music it's very straight forward.
Default interface design is not the most good looking though.

Can't remember last time if I tried it. I searched some of it's interface photos, looks very fancy with many functions such as auto cover retrieval, lyric, last.fm, wikipedia, youtube.

There's a big discrepancy between Ryzen Master and HWinfo, at least 6-7C, and I'm not sure which is more accurate.

Gaming temps at 85C (HWinfo reading) on my 5900X are kinda worrying me, not sure if I need a better cooler.

Hello, I need some advice regarding to the CPU cooler.

CPU - HP Omen 25L
Processor - 5700G

I have recently upgraded the processor cooler to NH-U9S after watching video it provides better cooling.

So with NH-U9S (single fan) installed, the idle temperature is 50-51c which is great as compared to the stock cooler.

I noticed the idle temperature increased by 10c (to 60-61c) when I install additional fan to make it push/pull setup.

Question: By using splitter, does it mean the fans are going to spin slower?

I can't seems to find any settings with Omen to increase the fan speed. Looks like the additional fan is going to be wasted...

Anyone here have issues with the USB C ports on x570 or B450 boards? Like IO errors or frequent reconnect/ disconnect issues?
This happens on both my Asrock B450M and Dark Hero X570. When I use the USB A ports no issues.
I recently purchased one of the front panel USB ports, and even there the USB C ports misbehave. Using the USB A ports shows no issues.
Do these USB C ports have special drivers or motherborad drivers?

EDIT: I've tested with 3 different USB C to USB C cables. 50cm, 1M, and 2M cables. Tested on my Galaxy Note 8 and MI A1.

i face no such problem as a regular consumer. well, to each their own. but expect AM5 platform to be buggy also initially.

I expect the platform to be more stable as time passed, not unstable 

AMD doesn't even fix fTPM stutter bug completely, USB random disconnection frequency simply reduced, WHEA error etc.

Everyone expecting AMD to blew Intel away and look what happened. I never thought after all these years, multi core (>8) uplift in gaming is still so weak.

Problem is ARM is not X86/64 native so its to be expected translation inefficiencies. Intel tried to do the other way by using X86 cpu to run ARM but suffers the same deficiencies. The only way X86 will be threatened is if X86 apps can run natively on ARM based OS.
