Can anyone check whether your 510 running as hot as mine?

When cpu idle about 10%, the temp is around 40° in air conditioning room. The fans is running the whole time. When cpu load around 50% , the temp shoot up to around 60°

I feel like previously the fans not running the whole time when idle, and the back case temp now feel much hotter. Not sure if something wrong with the device.

Imma thinking the thermal paste/TIM has just gone bad probably? I no longer have my 510 but I did repaste it when I still had mine.

Also, the heatsink mounting on the motherboard seems a bit... fragile. Worse case scenario the mounting has detached/loosened itself off the MBB and the heatsink isn't in proper contact to the TIM in the first place.

Or the tiny heat fan inside is just filled with dust ler. Which is pretty minor but still needs to be settled. If you're not comfortable with DIY just send it in to Lenovo and ask them to check.

Hopefully not the thermal paste issue sweat.gif

Now it seem to go back like normal, fans not spinning when idle, or spins slowly. Temp when idle is around 37-40°, and when increase load the temp doesn't so fast shoot up until 60° like last time. I think maybe that time there's a lot background activity, although Task Manager didn't show any increase in CPU usage.

You change to which tablet?

xxboxx talzer Switched to my GPD Win 2 full time for mobile use lol, of course with external screen, keyboard and mouse when I need it for "proper" use.

Just can't justify having two mobile devices that do about the same thing, even when a 8-inch screen and tiny keys are barely fit for "mobile" work lol. But it IS smaller overall (the size of a 3DS) so portability wise it wins hands down.

Anyone still using Miix 510? Got any issue with the battery?

On mine the battery sometimes can't be detected. So it can't startup. If I were to left it for tens of minutes and try to start it then only it can detect the battery and start, sometimes have to do it few times. Usually I'll plug in the charger and after few minutes it will detect the battery. Today even after I plug in for an hour it still can't be detected.

Anyone know what's the problem with my Miix?

Mine having the same issue, bought july 2017. Reported and found out it was due to swollen Battery, and was told battery is not cover by warranty, waiting for quotation from lenovo.

Also, sometime HDD not detected, display black out if temp too high.

Support will come to change part tomorrow.

Please update here how much to change the battery. Mine now can start like normal again lol, but sometimes still having battery not detected. I feel like the battery issue will happen when my tablet not using for few days/week.

I read back this thread, yours previously changed MB 2 times and a LCD? And now with SSD problem, you got monitor the temperature? Maybe got too hot it's affected other components? Mine around 40+° C on light usage but sometimes spikes to 58° C when CPU full load.

As long as the temp is slightly higher, LCD will black out. Support brought the LCD panel but found out it was cracked, so need to wait for another replacement.

During 2nd support visit, SSD being changed, Heatsink Fan serviced. HDD is ok now but are unable to recover using recovery copy created using windows, support brought over their internal copy which took extremely long time to reload the OS.

BTW, I'm not so sure about their recovery OS version because of Cortana, Malaysia do not have this feature available yet but the restored OS came with this feature, tested and works fine.

Do take note for any parts replacement because they may not use the NEW parts but rather a refurbished part, so make sure you inspect the parts before and after (when the support is around).

Wow almost RM900 just for battery replacement. Better DIY or send to shop ask them change then.
Thanks for the info.

Sorry for the late reply.

The Model of the battery is BSNO4170A5-AT

Update from my previous repair :

1. New LCD and new SSD. Full System recovery. All reported issues solved. But new issues came right after.

2. Erratic mouse cursor. Jumping around

3. Touchscreen not responsive but stylus is working

Reported to Lenovo, 1st action required is to whip out my SDD and perform FULL RECOVERY, what an easy solution provided.

My Miix-520 fan suddenly give out funny sound. Sound like the fan going to K.O. soon. Then I shutdown the tablet. Waited for 1 min and turn it on. Initially the sound come back and then after a while the sound is gone. Called Lenovo CS and was asked to bring the tablet to service center for checking. If really the fan issue then need to order the spare part.
