7. have you tried to use hdmi dongles to connect to external monitor or projector?
*
No problem. As for 7) most HDMI Type-C dongles work fine... it's the direct VGA ones that are slightly more problematic.

As for myself, I do Type-C -> HDMI (using few cheapo dongles, and my Dodocool multi-hub) -> VGA converter and it works fine.

SSD corrupt? It's actually quite easy to change yourself, though if you still have warranty why bother? Send it back to Lenovo ler for repairs.
*
Lenovo repair is fast, the replace it, after i e-mail them next day on site, seems alright

but right now Windows 10 1709 has this powernap issue, need to disable hibernate, if not wake up it will crash

I have Chromecast for wireless (works OK for slides and stuff), and otherwise your typical cheapo eBay/Lazada Type-C to HDMI SHOULD work fine.

Can, but you have to specifically have Chrome running, even to cast the desktop entirely (and not just Chrome).

So for all intents and purposes, it's really Chromecasting rather than wireless displaying.

yes, it can easily reach 90 degree Celsius due to Turbo Boost.

If you don't need Turbo Boost, you can turn it off and the max temp will be 82 degree or below when you stress it.

To turn Turbo Boost off, go to Power Option, Processor Power Management, Maximum processor state,

change On Battery and Plugged in to 99.

After that restart the notebook.

Now my Miix 520 hovering between 40 to 55 Celsius. Play Star Craft II with low setting max is 79 Celsius. Average is around 72 Celsius (play games).

Or you can undervolt + repaste. Mine Turbos and still doesn't reach 90 at full tilt, only a shade below 80 max while benching (and around 70 when gaming).

But of course while a UV is relatively easy (just install ThrottleStop and test UV values for a stable UV), repasting needs you to open the Miix up, which is actually VERY easy as tablets go but it's understandably scary.

That said, mine's only a Skylake i5 so it might be just that.

It's a Snapdragon (ARM) driven Windows 10 tab, kinda like the old non-pro Surfaces, but with a slightly improved version of Windows RT with (relatively shitty) x86 emulation.

If you're ONLY gonna run UWP apps (from the store), and can live with slow 32-bit Windows API emu (or the even slow-er 64-bit emu) for everything else, then you're gonna enjoy the extra battery life and superior connected standby afforded by the Snapdragon.

Otherwise, it's crap.

Oh, and it's also a whole lot more expensive.

hmmm, i am following your setting now. also im trying to push everything to lowest hahaha. ideally try to hit under 50c on normal use like web browsing/watching video. trying to keep the fan off if possible, but i understand, our weather here is super hard esp if not in aircon room hahahha.....

i saw there is a plastic frame around the glass.. is that brittle?
i got think of repasting... but considering the age of the item hmm.gif
ive used XTU to UV.. so far stable at -115v offset, -120v will bsod sometimes... but the temp is really not great.

ive never used throttlestop, ive installed it... u only tweak the FIVR tab? i saw it has multiplier tweak as well.

could you share your screencap of your throttlestop tweaks?

my goal now is lower temp & longer battery life. last night i tried to use it like i used my desktop, multiple stuffs running. 3d software, photoshop & multiple browser tab with youtube running hahaha.. it barely hit the 3 hour mark xD

uses snapdragon 845 SoC, only runs 32-bit applications.
expensive for sure. perfect if you need it to run office apps on the go? or use it as graphic presentation.

Below is the snapshot of my Miix 520 temp in my room....no aircon. For me, it is acceptable temp.

After played Star Craft II for 1 hour

May be today weather is cooler a bit that's why the temp didn't reached 70

Err yes and no. Firstly we don't actually have a HDD inside bro, but that's probably just picking at straws.

So yeah, number (2) is ghosting the SSD into an image, as per your assumption. But you can't do ANYTHING with this image unless you have (1). It doesn't make self-booting images you can just pop into a USB and start into at boot.

On the other hand, number (1) is PRIMARILY a Boot Environment you have to go into to RESTORE the image. Why would you need this?

A) When you're migrating to a new SSD (using an image you created in (1). And yes you actually can do this on the Miix as you can open it up rather easily (as far as tabs go anyway) to change the SSD.

B) As in your given scenario, when the system refuses to start, and you need to restore an image (from 1 or wherever) or repair the boot image.

BTW, number (2) creates a disk with a Boot Environment that can ONLY be used in the two scenarios above (or something similar). It ONLY contains a simplified version of Windows with Macrium Relflect preinstalled.

It's not like, say, a Windows 10 recovery disk which you can reinstall Windows with.

Bro it's me again, I just did the image but wow surprised that the size of the image is almost 1 to 1 haha ... total 175gb ... is there a way to make it smaller =.="

Well you can compress the image (there are compression options when you make it) but it's gonna add significantly to your imaging and re-installation time.

Normally, people bought new notebook and use it as it. if Drive C is 175GB, they just use it as is and fill up whole 175GB.

For some people who have some knowledge and experience in PC configuration, they will partition drive C and make it smaller. Example like 100GB or depends on their preference. Recommended from 70GB to 100GB. Drive C is purely for OS and some standard software like Office, Winzip and so on.

Reason being when do a system backup (Drive C) the backup files will be smaller in size. Games (due to huge installed size) and document will be installed / save to other drive like D or E.

In case of restoration, you don't want your latest document being overwritten by old version or worst case lost it totally. Usually, restoration is done on Drive C (OS) and seldom on Data drive. Data drive normally will backup (copy and paste) to external hard disk.

Downloaded Movies, Songs and etc will be saved to other drive too.

My current setup is C (OS) - 112GB, D (Data) - 100GB, E (Lenovo - original partition, temporary file saved location) - 25GB

I also use 128GB mSD as my download drive - F.

Below is my Miix 520 drive layout. The CD Drive (Y:) is virtual CD drive.

Attached Image

My latest backup of drive C used up 18.5GB disk space in my Drive D. I also copy the backup to external HDD for safe keeping.

I know some will say it is overkill and does not like to have so many Drive to manage. Well, it is personal preference. I did it based on my many years of PC / Notebook setup / configuration experience and I am happy with it.

Btw, normally viruses will always attack Drive C where OS is.

Just my 2 cents.
