READING PLEASURE -
SERIOUS ABOUT FIGHTING CORRUPTION? THEN TAKE AWAY LARGE CURRENCY NOTES – PNB CHIEF TELLS GRAFT-TAINTED NAJIB REGIME Immobilising large currency notes could help create a crime-less and corruption-less Malaysian society, said Permodalan Nasional Bhd Group chairperson Abdul Wahid Omar. He said another measure included mandating large transactions to be done electronically as well as providing an audit trail. “Mitigating crime and corruption risks is possible as the world is moving towards a cashless society. “Technology has advanced so far that mobile payments are enabled and the cost of point-of-sale terminal is affordable for mass deployment,” he said. Abdul Wahid said this at the Malaysian Institute of Accountants’ 50th Anniversary Commemorative Lecture today. He said lower-denominated notes should be made available to facilitate small transactions. BERNAMA - 10 APR 2017 |

Using creditcard will leave trail. I once saw someone buying a sofa set paid with 10k cash. |

My friend who works in LV outlet told me that those customers who comes in and ask a lot of questions will be those likely to use credit card and goes for low to mid range. Those who comes in and go straight to take what they want will be the big spenders and will unload the cash there and then. |

Whereas those paying cash, most probably its under table money or money from someone else, thus they afford to buy the expensive one. |

According to an article recently, instead of keeping cash, corrupted money is used to buy limited-edition branded bags which in time appreciate in value, instead of RM. |

I believe PNB will pay better dividends from next year onwards.
Abdul Wahid Omar and Abdul Rahman Ahmad are both ICAEW graduates with Abdul Rahman having an additional Masters from Cambridge. Both have done relatively well in the corporate sector and I believe for the first 2 years at least, they have to perform better. Luck is with them as the share market is doing pretty well and we are just at the beginning of a sustained market rally. Wish them luck! |

Thanks to Tun M.. uk adopt this system as well and it works well(most used largest note is 20 quids). i am all for cashless payment(prefer eftpos) provided security is good and service is either minimal or free. |
