I went from FD > ASX FP > FSM MY > SG instruments.

I have zero holdings in FD now. Was planning to move all my FD holdings to ASX FP. It was good for a while. Then prices start increasing more than what ASX FP can give. Decide to stop topping up ASX FP as increase in price/year> ASX FP returns.

Was sticking with FSM MY until RM starts depreciating at a alarming rate. That time, decide to port over to SG as FSM MY cannot keep up with increase in price of good + depreciation of ringgit.

However, for I will keep my emergency allocation in ASX FP.

ASX FP = amanah saham fixed priced fund (ASW2020, ASM, AS1M) If you are bumi, don't touch the other 3. Buy only ASB, ASB2.

FSM MY = Fundsupermart Malaysia. It's a online marketplace for unit trust. You buy from them it cost you only 1.75% service charge vs if you buy from banks/agents at 5.5% service charge  thumbup.gif

SG instruments = singapore shares, unit trust. A 7% return in Singapore can beat at 10% return in Malaysia over long term (min 3 years) whistling.gif

It's basically for kids for bumis. If you are bumi, stick with ASB, ASB2. All are more or less the same as they invest in the same stocks (in Malaysia only)

ASG -> avoid at all cost 5.5% service charge pluslousy returns. Better options exist (eg Kenanga Growth Fund). Only for fixed price fund, dividend is important as that's the real return. For the rest of unit trust (ASG, ASN)  dividend is useless. They give you 7% additional units, the NAV (the price you buy/sell) drop by 7%

Thank you for ur reply.

I am a bit worried about putting all my money in asnb. Is it safe? Is sg instrument safer than asnb?

My concern is tht asnb investment is mostly in malaysia and all this news like petrol at 50 usd per barrel and others negative news regarding our econony makes me edgy

Not sure if you can open a Cimb SG account from SG or not. No harm giving it a try. Walk into Cimb SG at Raffles place and said you want to open Cimb Star Saver account. You can't open FastSaver as that will require a local SG bank account beforehand.

I recommend you use Maybank Kim Eng. For Cimb iTrade, they have maintenance fees. doh.gif
https://www.itradecimb.com.sg/app/help.clie...subcat=01_05_01
See point no #8.

Also, I highly doubt you can open a SG bank account in SG any more. The last the bank told me SG govt is very strict towards foreigner opening account since last year especially against Malaysians.  bangwall.gif

If you have SGD3k, still can. Maybe. See here for more info.
openning a bank account in singapore

You may want to ask UOB/OCBC about whether the maintenance fee is still there or not.
https://portal.iocbc.com/assets/pdf/ospl/EP...ation_Sheet.pdf
http://www.utrade.com.sg/page/site/public/...SG_FAQPlus.html

UOB location: Raffles Place Investor Centre 39 Circular Road
OCBC location: 18 Church Street
Both of them are located near battery road. Take a MRT to raffles place.

I personally use DBS Vickers and will be switching to Maybank Kim Eng
DBS Vickers location: Marina Bay Financial Center.

Reason for DBS Vickers:
(i) the only cash upfront account where shares will go straight into CDP
(ii) No maintenance fee

Reason for switching:
(i) Need to contact them for limit to sell doh.gif  puke.gif
(ii) Pay SGD25/selling vs buying at SGD18
(iii) Maybank Kim Eng only SGD10. No need to contact anybody before hand.

PS. You can open both account and securities at DBS/OCBC/UOB one shot provided
(i) they still let you
(ii) you have ready cash (SGD3k)
See info in that thread.

Also, be sure to apply for Phillip Unit Trust account after getting your bank account for UT buying in case you need it.

The nearest Phillip is at City Hall. It's in Raffles City tower.

Good luck.
Info is provided above.  biggrin.gif

SERIOUS ABOUT FIGHTING CORRUPTION? THEN TAKE AWAY LARGE CURRENCY NOTES – PNB CHIEF TELLS GRAFT-TAINTED NAJIB REGIME

Immobilising large currency notes could help create a crime-less and corruption-less Malaysian society, said Permodalan Nasional Bhd Group chairperson Abdul Wahid Omar.

He said another measure included mandating large transactions to be done electronically as well as providing an audit trail.

“Mitigating crime and corruption risks is possible as the world is moving towards a cashless society.

“Technology has advanced so far that mobile payments are enabled and the cost of point-of-sale terminal is affordable for mass deployment,” he said.

Abdul Wahid said this at the Malaysian Institute of Accountants’ 50th Anniversary Commemorative Lecture today.

He said lower-denominated notes should be made available to facilitate small transactions.

Seriously how can goman ban big value note when ours just rm100.. Really joke this wahid guy..

If talking about rm500 note or even rm1000 note. Okay I understand.. But that one not available now.. Thanks to Tun M..
*
his idea is based on tried and tested method.

uk adopt this system as well and it works well(most used largest note is 20 quids).

i am all for cashless payment(prefer eftpos) provided security is good and service is either minimal or free.

I believe PNB will pay better dividends from next year onwards.

Abdul Wahid Omar and Abdul Rahman Ahmad are both ICAEW graduates with Abdul Rahman having an additional Masters from Cambridge. Both have done relatively well in the corporate sector and I believe for the first 2 years at least, they have to perform better.

Luck is with them as the share market is doing pretty well and we are just at the beginning of a sustained market rally.

Wish them luck!
*
i just hope they can do their job without interference.

wahid omar has good track record imo

Err. 50 quid note is perfectly legal in the UK. So 20 is not the largest note. British use cards because it's so convenient. Everywhere accepts cards, even small sundry shops at any corners. And nobody bats an eye when you use card to pay for something that costs like 4 or 5 pounds. Many ATMs have no charge whatsoever even if your card is not from that bank. Online transfers to all banks are instantaneous and free. We are moving towards that way, gradually. smile.gif
*
i didnt say it is the largest i said the largest frequently used is 20 quids hehe.

Perhaps,... could have been damaged by the majority of that race when few could be really good. Anyway, regardless,... good or not,... it must be a Malay sitting up there. If we don't like it,... then bite the bullet and learn investments yourself,... 'don't depend on the Malay' since the majority of them are 'not proven yet'.. this is my opinion !

Secondly,... everybody is entitled to his/her opinion,...

Whatever-lar,... if you don't like it, take your money somewhere else,.. one thing I notice is,... the moment one is independant financially and has somewhere to go to,.. the feelings of racism will not arise anymore.

If one has money to invest in,... the world will welcome you. He just has to find the means - ie the money and the knowledge. Having money only is not enough,.. if no knowledge, then you may fall into an investment trap.

So,.. for these people, stay inside ASX forever,... and continue to complain abt the mgrs giving only 6%. The thing abt life is,... we can complain abt all we wish to,.. but many a time, things will not change.

So move on and move out !!!  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

I'm glad I did,...

Some still doing that way... Also be smart.. Only top up on ex dividend day.. Others days, the unit availability is slim.. Needs to see luck..
*
True.

On another note trying at 10am to 11 am is also a strategy tht can be used. So far i tried asd and manages to squeeze in 10k all otc during the time 10 am to 11am

No need to handle and no need to come up with approaches if one can have options outside,.. racism, too,... has its levels. Everywhere has different levels of racism. If we are able to diversify out such levels, mathematically, we cancel out the discomfort,... To have options, one must have funds and knowledge ! This is how life works.

By you saying my remarks are racist, you yourself are at the very top of the prism of racism itself.

Keeping funds inside PNB while waiting to convert out and not commenting abt Mr Wahid is adapting. Taking in your remarks saying I'm a racist and responding to you is adapting ! Saying that PNB is still good and safe giving us 6% is adapting.

Being able to adapt creates comfort ! It's okay if there is racism,... I can swim among it.

I'll give you another thinking : look at Singapore, it's a bit racist too,... but basically the Singaporean chinese managed it well. That's why we proper there if we have invested into the SGD earlier. But,... if the same people are running Msia, I'm sure they wouldn't have something like PNB,... SO,... it's good that racist parties manage Msia, then we have PNB, letting us earn a safe and good 6% !

So,... from the above event/thinking,... what do we do ?? We invest into PNB, earning 6% safely while waiting to convert out at every single opportunity because the funds are so liquid inside PNB. We can take advantage of the exchange rate IMMEDIATELY when it is good.

Bro,... I am an attorney,.. unfair systems appear everywhere. That's why I will always have work,...

Wanted to edit by adding why I'd still prefer not to have many of our,... well,.. it's okay, I've said enough !  biggrin.gif

Others ASx funds, I got no comments tongue.gif

I think la asm, asd and asw 2020 would probably give same dividen around 6 percent based on last few years data

Anyway i think u can google out tht wahid omar said this year divided is between 5 to 7 percent. If economy turns sour then i think the best they can give is 5 percent if it turns out good then maybe u get 7 percent but 6 percent would be more of a realistic target. But all this i agak2 la.

Don't know la political or not but if it is a fund tht gives out fair dividen lets not paint it in a negative light. So far pnb imo is a well managed fund and i hope wahid and team can keep it tht way. Lets hope they can keep greedy hands at bay.

i think quite impossible as curently pnb is like a big fish in a small pond. currently food in the current pond is limited. my view is that it can only grow if it goes into a bigger pond or more food goes in the current pond(huge investment from outside).
