I think passbookless is what they want. but the UH refuse to accept it because a bit drastic (although it has been on the news quite a while before they actually do it). so now they still need to accept people who want to use passbook and slowly tell them they will still have to let go in the end. hahaha. I heard now passbook replacements can only be done at ASNB branches and will take a few days to do. it's to discourage people from wanting to get books.

if banks really say that you can inform ASNB HQ office. because supposedly agent banks also can update. maybe they refuse coz more ppl using myasnb portal means less commision for them.

I know right? and so many of them bumis make noise because of portal. they misunderstood thought no more counter activities. all must online one. and got people keep telling them still can do at counter, but without passbook, then make noise again cannot see balance. cannot tatap the buku and look at their money. as if staring at the book can make their money grow. hahaha

if you face things like that you can call the customer care hotline. or even better, take a screencap of the error and email it to them. i think the email address is at the bottom of the portal page. they sure will resolve it. they still ironing out some real bugs ever since they announce it. I guess they'r still trying to cope with the volume of users hence the glitch here and there.

I won't hold my breath for withdrawal tho. I think it's unlikely they will allow online withdrawal because ppl will start to really treat them like bank accounts instead of UT. even now with the hassle of going to branch/agents there are already a lot of withdrawals (can see by how easy ppl here get units sometimes haha).

on a side note, what I find funny is, ppl complaint A LOT about having to go to branch to update info (HP no), get new acc no (for ASB only) to register myasnb, when all this time they don't seem to face trouble when need to go there again and again for withdrawals/adding funds.

Well but I think if they want to allow withdrawal, maybe should set a maximum monthly/daily limit or something. and then if want to sell more need to go to branch. I dunno. just a thought.

This depends on what kind of approval they got from SC for myasnb. unlike banks, ASNB is not regulated under BNM that's why people cannot say why bank can do this why ASNB cannot etc. If I have to guess they will have to accommodate junior acc somehow because I see too many people already complaining about this.

it is not a savings account. it is a unit trust. but for some reason people though ASx and unit trust are different things. the diff is ASNB have fixed priced funds which means come rain or storm to the stock market the price will always be rm1 for 1 unit.

it is not like a savings account where you just "put money inside how much also can" one. you are BUYING a unit. it's an investment. you give money they gave you unit. the unit is your asset. come Financial Year End, they give you dividend.

please do not confuse ASx (unit trust) with bank's CASA. although in terms of liquidity they behave quite similarly (you can sell your unit anytime just like you can withdraw money from your bank anytime oso).
