let me tell u the "real situation" out there.. ignore those in lowyat...

many depends on ASB dividend yearly to pay school expenses / monthly expenses.. it's like "high return Savings account".... just camp 1 day at any of the agents branch.. see how many holding "blue passbook" & red withdrawal slip (before MyASNB portal time). Now also same, but u don't see blue passbook.. situation would be the same only.. won't change overnight like magic..

and seriously I said to the face.. MANY HAVE NOT MAX OUT 200K.. NOT EVERYONE HAVE THE $$.. See the yearly ASB annual report.. how many unitholders below 5k balance..  that's the fact..
*
This was the reason why the special bonus was given only to the first 10k units. It is to benefit the majority of the ASB investors. around 80% of them have <10k amount. So they'll appreciate the extra. This was the whole point of PNB the whole time. to help increase pegangan saham bumiputra.

For those who already have almost half million in ASB, I dunno why they would make so much noise about getting so little. you have SO MUCH already lah!! why so tamak want to take all by yourself? let the poorer ones get a little bit more lah. not gonna exceed all of your money anyway.

I was in town to so I decided to survey the situation at their main building. They're freely promoting the portal with banners and flyers distributed freely.

I also spoke to who I think was the guy running the show as far as the portal is concerned. Friendly bloke who was quite approachable. According to him, the portal servers had gone beyond their forecasted volume and had to increase capacity by quite a lot.

He told me the volume (but told me not to share with people lah) that the servers were handling and believe me when I say, the portal was serving traffic that would be on par with the likes of AirAsia/Lazada/Maybank2u/CIMB Clicks when there's a sale or salary time.

Give them a break lah. As one of the previous person posted, they have 13 million ASB customers and assuming even 1% of that volume storm the portal to check their balance and dividends, tell me how big of a volume that it has to handle. Any techie would know it's not the total number of people accessing is the problem but the number of CONCURRENT users accessing at the same time that is the challenge.

ps: Happy new year. No posts for awhile, just lurking wink.gif

yes. I saw similar comment in their FB also. don't blame them too much la. they're so used to the 'conservative' ways of doing things. let them adjust for a bit. there's a lot of older staffs there too who are also not as savvy. haha.

p/s: I also know how much their servers are catering. that must be their CTO you talked to brows.gif

Will you loss if withdraw? Because you had paid 5% service charge.
*
the 5% is not service charge. it's their SALES charge. and it's only charged when you BUY units. when you sell, you get the full amount (of course have to consider the NAV on that day)

Asking on behalf of my neighbour .She tried to bank in $ to her ASB2 acct today but was told all units all taken up. The teller said since last week customers are unable to top up to ASB2. Is there a max to ASB2?
*
ya they already mentioned during launching of ASB2 in 2014 that there'll be 10bil units only.

but there is trail though.. you can see even more detailed info about your transactions online now compared to previously when it was printed on the book.

and you know people will always complain no matter what.. sometimes they ask why asnb not follow like banks, banks can do this and that.. why u cannot?

and banks removed their passbooks for some time already.. so now when they follow like banks they said no, banks can be banks, why you also remove passbook.. let asb be special! etc etc.

pity asnb la.. they are trying to catch up with the century but got held up by fussy selfish people.. malays need to learn that they can't always get what they want.. they are too used to being fed with stuff they stopped appreciating it and started demanding it.. they are not more superior than others.. zaman ketuanan melayu is so over..

I don't see any non-Bumi screaming to have passbook again btw.. from the looks of it in here, they may be minority investors (in terms of number of people), but they are contributing a whole lot in terms of money.. I bet if there is no quota, those Bumis will have no chance..

I suggest they stop complaining and start acting on something..

Waaa.. I think this article is being unfair to their staff. First and foremost, all other media reporting also already misleading. Did you know last week was actually PNB's anniversary? and that bonus was given in conjunction of that. But nowhere in the article or any other articles was it mentioned. In fact, ALL medias focused MAINLY on that bonus announcement instead of the real agenda on the day. I dunno what the intention of the writer is. But please don't write out of emotions. Plus I don't think Najib was giving away any of the investors' money. He can't do that. Well, no one can. Not even PNB staff can take investors' money for other purposes. These so-called journalists really need ethics 101 lesson.

I thought the first sentence of the article already mentioned?
*
"During the 40th CELEBRATION" is not the same as "FOR the 40th".

Also it's mentioned 1st para only. the rest of article doesn't carry the same tone.

Assuming asb loan
*
exactly the point.. those who maxed out their limit were mostly taking loans.. there is no loan for asm,asw or as1m.. and even to transfer asb/asb2 dividend into those other funds are also not very smart (maybe not many would thought of this though), because the compounding return from leaving those accumulated units would be more profitable.. hence there's still a lot of units left for bumi in those funds.. asb is open ended.. even so, more than 70% of ASB unit holders have only <10k units.. on top of that, malays, especially, have VERY low awareness on investments.. (it's not racist, just fact)

but if you want to talk about fair, well.... it's the ultimate goal of PNB establishment in the first place, to help the bumiputera.. so can't say much on that.. I think if they were to open ASB to the non-bumis, the bumis will have no fighting chance at all..

Lul yah. I also just opened asb2.
All these past few weeks (even before march), agents told me full. Cannot open. Took me 5 minutes to do it online.

Dunno is it because people withdraw until got many units?
*
before dividend time it is full.. after dividend they got increase fund size so now can buy again.. it's not about agents cannot open etc.. if they had this at that time u tried also i don't think can open.. it's only a matter of time when all units finish again..

I managed to open a new account without putting in any money. Is it a bug or something?
*
I don't think it's bug.. I think really can open zero account.. I remember reading some comments in here saying agents help them open zero account.. maybe last time cannot because they control with SOP or something.. not exactly system limitation..

I have enquiry.

If I'm the holder of ASNB(ASM,AS1M,ASW).
In case something bad happened like death . And assume no beneficiary assigned.
What will happen to the money? Can my parents or sibling claim the money?
Will it be send to Amanah Raya and they charge commission ?

Thank you much
*
I don't really know details, but this is what I can tell you:

if money is below certain amount(can't remember how much), any of your successor (kids, siblings, etc) can go to asnb, fill some forms, and take the money. need to provide some documentation for proof of relationship (bf gf cannot lah).

if more than that, it will go to amanah raya, you have to claim from them, and yes, they charge you certain percentage depending on how much money it is. I think they have different range.

you can go ask any asnb office for more accurate details.

He got friend working inside ASNB.

I don't think he got friend.
I think he IS the friend.
from my observation he leaked lots of "insider info" claimed to be from his "contact"
and the info seems too accurate and detail
I guess his "friend" is really kepochi one cannot keep things to himself even the things that are not supposed to say also he say one.

Maybe I should go find out from banks when I open one for my daughter that is not through ADAM50.

For my son account, the units are always available but there's a cap on it which is 50k.
*
r u bumi? if bumi then means u open asb for your son. asb now cap for kids account up to 200k same with adults.

if asb always have units coz it's open ended. but got capping.

other funds no capping but close-ended, that's why limited unit availability. someone need to sell first, then only someone else can buy.

Thanks Ramjade. If I withdraw 4 or 5 digits, do I expect to receive cash from the counter? I don't wanna carry so much $ on hand  sweat.gif
*
if you go withdraw at bank where you have an account, you can ask for direct transfer from asX to bank account. I always do that. But not sure if can do that for 5 digits. my max is always <10k biggrin.gif

you guys.. I think you should not put here suggesting people to try do things like automating stuff and all. you dunno if there are people from ASNB actually reading and taking action on whatever you say here. maybe now you think ok, no harm etc. but you also know they're very influential company. if anything happen then you all die lor. and I dunno, but to me this is a bit unethical.
