It seems the last ROM 10.2.1.0 for RN3 is available. Should I update to this?

Mine is 8.0.1.0, but on the Settings Update can only see update to 8.0.6.0. Cannot directly update to 10.2.1.0?

Will drain battery more if update?
This is what I'm afraid.

battery drain happens if u have a lot of background apps
i.e sync process, those pesky apps that are constantly online
and those wakelock that eats up data while u r idle

so. uninstall unnecessary apps and disable those sync that u dont need

What is the alternative method to fix loose micro usb port?
Apart from replacing the HW.

Posted this in RN4 thread but didnt get much reply, hope can get help from here:

My Malaysian set RN4x is unable to switch on or boot, only red light keeps blinking during charging. Google and it seems like a common problem but different way of rectifications. So far tried a few but not working.

After trying the different self diagnosis suggested by google, my 18months old RN4 still cannot be charged or boot. Brought to Xiaomi Authorised service center to diagnose and was told problem with mainboard, so not worth repairing n paid rm25 for that. My 3year old RN3 still kicking strong.

The xiaomi authorized service center said my phone is gone and data not retrievable. But when I brought to another shop, tested my battery ok but still can't charge and can't switched on, dismantled the battery n powered d phone directly by charger n phone can be switched on and booted, everything still intact felt relieved.
At least now allowed me to savage my data. Will backup all data b4 repairing the shorted mainboard, repairing cost btw rm150-rm250.

Useless xiaomi service center charged me rm25 for a lousy job.

WTA:
1) Is it safe to continue using the shorted phone with direct power while backup the data and reset it to factory setting?
2) Is the repair cost of 150-250 which takes 2 hours too high?
3) Normally would repaired unit last >1 year?
4) Where to sell it as scrap since the screen n battery still working?

Any opinion is welcome.

How do u determine that main board is the root cause?

I suppose it was sent to a service center for diagnose. I was quite surprise most service centers do not charge for this except for authorised Xiaomi service centre. Wrong diagnose and still charged me rm25. May be I should sell my RN4 as scrap for those who need the other functioning parts. A brand new motherboard for RN4 is just so expensive.

Motherboard and screen are expensive among all.

phone suddenly cannot charge.
the ic on the board overheat when i charge phone.
swap battery with other rn3 same result, cannot charge can power on. my battery in other rn3 no issue, can charge can power on.
swap the lower board which consist of mic and speaker with other ok rn3, mine cannot charge, the ok rn3 with my board can charge.
screen is ok coz i use other rn3 to full charge my battery, and it power on just ok.
so that's left the main board. the overheated ic probably the one which regulate charging.
