I think if the screen is AMOLED, the battery life will be a lot longer. My Samsung J5 has amoled 5" screen and the battery life with same heavy usage is almost the same except it has 2,600mAh battery only.

I believe processor plays a bigger role here. Samsung Galaxy J5 processor only deployed Cortex A-53 cores and Redmi Note 3 has Cortex A-72 cores which is way more powerful than A-53.

my redmi note 3 (kate) have very slow gps locking issue. any way to fix this, or should I go to the svc center?

I think you facing the same issue as mine, and even updated to latest 8.2.2.0 didn't solve the problem. I need to reboot the device everytime this happen (like daily)

Could be a good thing, maybe that version is without gps problem

8.1.1.0 has the GPS issue. The same problem user reported for 8.2.20.

Right off the bat I think *maybe* (using the term loosely) better RAM usage since now is 1.6Gb free instead of the usual 1.3Gb free when close all apps.
But RAM management or usage isn't written in the changelog.
