after using my w810i as a modem.. no disconnection issue happen...
now i believe that my USB huawei e220 modem make a cause...  shakehead.gif
i try to update the software but i can't find any... cause im already updated (up to 7.2Mbps)...
i think old  version only up to 3.6 Mbps..

my area contain 3 universities and few college and not included factory... however i believe lot of subscriber using maxis and celcom instead DIGI EDGE.. yeah.. who want to EDGE.. so slow... better take 3G or HSDPA... many user think like that ... no wonder i got good coverage at my area... but when DIGI 3G come out, im afraid i'll loss the good connection due to congested user...

did u check that w610i support charging using USB cabel?...
if not no wonder ur battery flat...
i notice that my phone become warm after a few hours use... So need to be careful
when using phone as modem due its circuit not able to hold long heat compare to real modem..

now the question is WHICH modem. Theres 2 modem that is currently in my mind right now which is the AT&T Option GT MAX 3.6 Express and the ZTE MF622. With the AT&T i get portability as i can just slide it in my express card slot and forget about it.but im afraid that its performance would not be as good as the usb ZTE MF622.  so right now im abit  rclxub.gif

Added on June 7, 2008, 6:14 amYou guys can check out these modems at http://www.comfortsurf.com
*
I saw a forumer sell ZTE MF622 at Rm370 with 1 year warranty biggrin.gif

about ur question, IMO that is not much different on performance wise, as u can see wch5274 previous post comparison between Huawei USB modem with SE W810i but the price.. sweat.gif

my advice...
don't go to huawei modem..
got disconnection issue..
u can use phone as modem but don't use for long hours (a whole day)...
i don't think the phone can stand the heat...
*
nod.gif nod.gif ZTE MF622 would be good choice

QUOTE(prasys @ Jun 10 2008, 08:23 PM)
True. The modem is capable of reaching up to 7.2Mbps. But the problem with our cell phone towers are well they just don't have enough bandwidth to meet the demand. This is why they had to cap speeds to 128kbps/64kbps. I hope they do raise their cap to say 20-30GB and cap it to 256kbps and 128kbps. That would be fairer
*
normally telco would just supply the minimum requirement sad.gif

Hi, i would like to know is anyone use DiGi EDGE to BT. How fast can it be? Do i need to configure anything?
*
No different with cabled to phone, while advantage just 'BT wireless'. speed wise depend on which BT version you using

install BT software or using Windows built in BT software, either use Dial-UP or Personal Area Network connect it

HAHAHAHA...
irontech always like that...
he is very generous man and have lot of info in his head...
so u have to explain carefully mean dont use short term...  biggrin.gif

For BT, if u see my post before, its depend on seeder..
i mean good seeder and not of total no of seeder...
if u get good seeder u can reach 29KB/s or its average are 25~30KB/s  brows.gif
if u BT from dattebayo site which they got too many seeder.. u can get that speed...
and no cap limit

im so envy your good location for the very good speed biggrin.gif

I am not using DIGI. Currently using maxis hotlink. I was thinking that if I ask around and the response is good, I might change to DIGI and use their data plan as well as call plan (postpaid). But seems like EDGE not for me yet. Perhaps I have to wait for 3G.

Another question here, a few months back I heard that there will be law change that will enable us user to change telco but keep our number (Change to DIGI but stil use 012). Anyone knows anything about this? It's quite a hassle to change number and telling everyone about it.

everyone wondering DiGi 3G when

its Mobile Number Portability, nobody mention about this issue again after 308

Nvm. Just search this thread. The latency is quite bad. The best one i can find is 4xxms and average at 8xx-9xxms. Seems like Celcom better but too many complain though. No choice then. I have to wait for digi 3G before making any decision. Thanks all.

nod.gif high latency but connection very stable compare to C & M mobile broadband
