ladies & gentlemen, be ready for digi bb "full speed"!

"We are also closing in on the finalisation of that deal. It's a joint business planning and joint partnership and I think both parties will win from that cooperation."

As for the technical preparation for the 3G rollout, DiGi was currently running a test network with Nokia and Siemens but the mobile operator was also seeking a tender for the full rollout, Dennelind said.

DiGi was targeting full rollout by the end of the second quarter, after which it would be "full speed ahead" partly to catch up with Celcom and Maxis, he said.

As for the entry of more players in the 3G market, Dennelind said this was expected to pressure price downwards, which would benefit both consumers and operators.

Sorry for disturbing, if I can ask is there any limited download bandwidth policy on Digi EDGE?
I might consider terminating my Celcom which only allows 5GB download bandwidth that is absolutely too little especially with heavily injected graphics and flash websites on the Internet.

Appreciate if someone can help on this matter. smile.gif

Thanks. biggrin.gif rclxm9.gif
I will wait for Celcom to reply me in these 3 working days, can say 80% I'll be terminating it. biggrin.gif
I'll get RM 123 package that tied with 24 months contract with DiGi EDGE data line, Asus EeePC and Asus Modem. I'm on desktop now and need something portable for mobility, not need to be high spec and EeePC is just nice for me, though the HDD size is not big but I have portable HDD. icon_idea.gif
Luckily my sister signed up a supplementary credit card line for me, so I can use it for this package. biggrin.gif icon_idea.gif
Anybody that subscribes to this package? Can let me know if the modem comes with USB converter? smile.gif I'll be using it on my desktop, so with USB is more convenient. smile.gif
I read through this thread and it seems DiGi is quite stable right? biggrin.gif

T500 seem pretty good, idea for pci-e / usb, built with audio path as well rclxm9.gif

yes, i did compare with fren's D68, digi slower but much stable on the connection.

icon_idea.gif rclxm9.gif 3G on da way!!

What is the maximum speed DiGi EDGE can achieve? smile.gif 384kbps? smile.gif
*
besides the technical max figure, don't expect digi edge speed like ur celcom d68.. sweat.gif always depends on your location's usage + free slot

my connections:-
KL.. day time always fast but night time congested
PG..autoworld city area fastest
MLK.. not that fast, but very smooth connection

I'm going to use it alone, so shouldn't be a problem right? How about BT? Does anyone try using EDGE for BT? smile.gif

If yes, care to tell me the speed? I'm fine if it is around 15kB or better still more than that. smile.gif I'm so going to apply this, hope no regret because I'll be on 24 months contract. sweat.gif
*
BT/emule/Xunlei b4(using phone can't BT too much, will drain the battery after 4 hours although while charging/downloading sweat.gif ), around 3-12KB.. my area cheras

IMO, if ur location is NS/Melaka(last ip 37) the slots will no as congested as Klang valley (last ip 36)

Seem DIGI EDGE speed consider fast... im not testing with BT yet but i will..

The problem i face now, when i go to page and not doing anything around 5second my connection disconnect although my modem show connected.. But when continuous run like downloading, no disconnection happen.. Anyone know what happen?... Or it neet other setting?
*
biggrin.gif glad to hear solved your problem.

27.5 KB/s is consider very FAST since Digi still EDGE connection speed but not 3G/3.5G. rclxms.gif I use edge phone as modem, the max i got only 20-23KB/s sweat.gif Digi speed will improved after their 3G network up & running.

Ya, Digi will close web connection once done the job, will reconnect when page refresh/open new.
Its normal, no worry biggrin.gif

Not the money issue, some people want to subscribe to EDGE is because of the unlimited allowed download bandwidth.
*
icon_idea.gif for me, i prefer Rm66 monthly mobility, yet the biggest reason i'm anti tm (the fixed line rental) & tmnut (dumb dns, certain site can't reach)

QUOTE(z3171600 @ May 16 2008, 09:04 PM)
From what I gather in this thread, DIGI EDGE quite stable. So it was a trade off between stable connection and faster download speed.

nod.gif lately DiGi connection much better improvement at my place, minimum reach 18KB/s rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

NEWS RELEASE

3G Spectrum transfer completed
Alliance to leverage on both parties’ key strengths

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 May 2008: TIME dotCom Berhad (TdC) and DiGi.Com Berhad (DiGi) can now execute their joint business plans to strengthen their core businesses with the successful transfer of the 3G Spectrum from TdC to DiGi today. An allotment of 27.5 million new shares to TdC was made as well in consideration for the transfer of the 3G spectrum with all its rights and benefits to DiGi.

This was announced at the official transfer ceremony where Datuk Dr. Halim Shafie, Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission handed the Spectrum assignment documents to DiGi Chief Executive Officer, Johan Dennelind. The event was witnessed by the Deputy Secretary General 1 for the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications, Dr. Mohd Padzil Hashim, who represented the Minister, Yang Berhormat Dato' Shaziman Abu Mansor; and Dato' Wan Muhammad Wan Ibrahim, Chairman of TdC.

As outlined in the Definitive Agreement between both parties on 25 January 2008, TdC and DiGi would leverage on their respective core businesses to fully optimise the existing networks and resources currently owned by both parties.

The 3G Spectrum transfer exercise was also approved by the shareholders of both parties at their respective Extraordinary General Meetings.

For DiGi, the 3G Spectrum offers opportunities to enhance its mobile network capacity and efficiency, and provide a platform for ongoing innovation and development of enhanced mobile and broadband services.

"We have been very successful without 3G in the past; however, we believe the timing is right for DiGi to start the rollout of broadband services to our customers. We are excited that this Spectrum will enable us to contribute actively to the extensive deployment of broadband infrastructure and services in keeping with the aspirations of the National Broadband Plan," said Johan Dennelind.

"We are currently working hard undertaking technical trials and with these approvals, we are targeting to launch 3G services and mobile broadband during the second half of this year," he added.

"I am very happy today because with this transfer, TIME dotCom and DiGi have entered into a service agreement, which sees TIME dotCom, through our subsidiary TT dotCom Sdn Bhd, appointed as DiGi's wholesale partner for a 3-year period, contributing fixed bandwidth businesses worth at least RM12.5 million each year. With the completion of the 3G Spectrum transfer, TIME dotCom stake in DiGi will increase to 10% of the enlarged paid up capital of DiGi," said Dato' Wan Muhamad.

The transfer of the 3G Spectrum to DiGi does not result in TIME dotCom exiting from the 3G market because it will be able to participate via an MVNO arrangement with DiGi once DiGi have rolled out the 3G network.  In the meantime, TIME dotCom will focus on enhancing its Next Generation-IP network and Broadband services for the Corporate, Government and Wholesale market segments.

The completion of the 3G Spectrum transfer establishes the foundation for the Alliance between both parties to collaborate on several business areas that can further contribute towards enhancing the nation’s telecommunications needs. Both parties will look into:

    * jointly developing new service offerings in the area of Fixed Mobile Convergence;

    * optimising the usage of TdC's domestic and international fibre networks by DiGi;

    * reselling of mobile services, including Mobile Virtual Network Operator services by TdC for selected markets; and

    * exploring mutual transfer of knowledge and technology between the employees of both parties.

i hope the enlarged parts are true, next month is second half d. rclxm9.gif

so tdc got international fibre too ha, i thought their fibre is just local coverage nia LOL. if digi can use it into their 3g plan, it will be so good muahahaha. rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
what the F is wholesale partner? monopoly partner? meaning time gonna in charge of local pricing etc etc? will it be bad for end users?
*
DiGi's strategy always "price lower than others" icon_idea.gif
