even if 0.5% still better than nothing if u use bank transfer...
*
QUOTE(mamamia @ Aug 23 2022, 11:55 AM)
some platform like Lazada, zcity, Shopee can let u pay council bill, then, it will be 3-5% cashback if u pay direct with ur credit card / top up to their wallet (if the card give u cashback for ewallet)
*
so why not using visa/master card that is linked with ewallet instead? (bigpay/kipple, etc)

3. Card required for: Petrol, Groceries, Dining or any daily transactions that can involve cashless payment
5. Interested in CC from: Maybank, currently I have Maybank2u and Maybank2e app, easier for me to check balance. Usually I use my debit card for cashless payment.
6. Others: Not a big spender, just want to apply credit card for a better CTOS score as suggested by my brother.
*
might as well ask your bro's recommendation for cards lol.gif
for cashback on petrol/grocery paid on Friday/Saturday - Maybank Islamic Mastercard Ikhwan
Maybank 2 Gold/Platinum for cashback on Saturday/Sunday where Amex is accepted as payment option, annual RM 50 service tax non-waiveable
QUOTE(KuroWanko @ Aug 25 2022, 10:18 PM)
Just search and read the benefits of this card, not really a football fan and seems like this card not really suitable for me.
*
if u r determined to apply a Maybank card, there are't many options to do your own research
otherwise, may consider UOB One Classic/Hong Leong Wise/Public Quantum Visa

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Citibank CashBack Mastercard (For petrol and some dining expenses to meet RM500 min requirement), Citibank Clear Card (Rarely use), HSBC Amanah (Huge one off spendings), Public Bank Quantum VIsa (dining paywave) and Public Bank Quantum Mastercard (Online shopping)

6. Others: My monthly spending averages 2.2k (400 on petrol + 1,300 on dining out + 500 on online shopping).
*
you may consider UOB One Classic/Platinum to replace Citi Cashback, UOB is pretty generous in waving annual fee
PBQM no longer provides cash back on online shopping category
PBQV should still be ok, or u may complement/replace with PB Visa Signature
if u don't mind refilling fuel and online shopping during weekend with merchant accepting Amex, check out Maybank 2 Gold/Platinum
do the math on the cash back cap on your own

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Citi Cash Back (general use + insurance + Grab + Setel), CIMB Cash Rebate (Setel + auto-billing Maxis & TNB + groceries), Affin Cash Back (TnG>Go+), PBB Quantum Visa (general use > RM100)

6. Others: Monthly minimum spending : Maxis (RM 350), Insurance GE (RM 550), groceries (RM 300), petrol (RM 400)
*
Insurance GE RM 550
why do you forgoes the RM 16.50 cash back from affin duo on citi cash back? hmm.gif

CIMB Cash Rebate (auto-billing Maxis & TNB)
do you meet the statement balance of RM 3,000?
it not, you are getting 2% cash back instead of 3% from affin duo

groceries (RM 300), petrol (RM 400)
should check out maybank credit card for these two categories if you are able to plan the spending during weekends to complement citi cash back

Thinking of cutting the Stan Chart JOP before it changes to Simply Cash next month.

3. Card required for: Cash Back/Rebate, : 90% ewallet + 10% dining/shopping

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
Myself: Current JustOne ( which i am looking for replacement) Cashback + Cimb ecard for Point
normal practice is to max out Just One quota then use Cimb ecard for unlimited point

My spouse have Maybank barcalona + Mpower cash back card. not sure if 1 family take same card is agood idea?

5. Interested in CC from:  Cash back card to replace Just one as i mainly use ewallet  ( i cant think of anything to be able to replace it yet)
btw top up into bigpay card also consider e-wallet?
*
if your monthly spend is at least RM 2,500, might as well check out RHB Shell
Public Islamic Visa Platinum or Affin Visa should still be the highly recommended card for cash back on ewallet/online without spending/balance requirement

if supplementary card, easier to meet the minimum spending requirement?
if separate principal card, distinct credit history, additional cash back cap?

bigpay topup is considered as e-wallet

6. Others: Monthly minimum spending : 3-4++k .. looking for cashback card.
*
RHB Shell

QUOTE(Chounz @ Dec 19 2022, 11:13 PM)
3. Card required for: Higher cash back for non-online spending, i.e Petrol, groceries, car services and other POS machines. (my current credit card offers about 0.2% CB)

6. Others: I want cash back only and no reward points.
*
apart from petrol/grocery/dining, UOB One, Hong Leong Wise, Maybank Islamic Ikhwan Mastercard
contactless category maybe hmm.gif
but not attractive though
Duo + must be paywave without pin, < RM 250?
PBQ Visa must be above RM 100 but @ 2% only, cap at RM 20 per month

QUOTE(lol4291 @ Dec 20 2022, 12:16 PM)
3. Card required for: Food/Dining, Groceries, utilities, Petrol, insurance payment, e wallet reload, online spend

6. Others: Currently living with parents, moving out soon. Expected monthly expense is about RM1.3-1.5K (anything I can use the card on, rent not included). I'm aware certain cards have like minimum spend like 1.5K per month or 2K per month; If need to reach that level I think can add my parent's utilities and siblings insurance payment into my CC.
*
Food/Dining, Groceries, Petrol --> UOB One Classic
utilities, insurance payment, e wallet reload, online spend--> Affin Duo Visa

Thanks! Citibank cash back is 0.2%. Maybank Barcelona looks good at 1% with rm50 cap. Amex cash back gold for 1% uncapped for majority of the transactions, but got AF and i guess acceptance rate is still low(?). I have quite a handful of miscellaneous spending like service car, MC5813 related, and other offline transactions.

Is reward card worth it? If anyone did an analysis let me know. I rmb using some but I never gotten to the point where i could spend the points.
*
depending on how much is your 'high' offline spending

do those places accept ewallet?
if not, Bigpay prepaid card
TNG visa is coming?
user posted image

points are uncapped but may be expired or depreciated over time when the conversion rate is being revised
air miles redemption is probably best for points
other redemption should be around 0.2%, excluding the multiplier 5x 10x 12x

3. Card required for: Petrol, Transport (Grab, Bus Ticket, Train Ticket), Utilities (Time Fibre, TNB), Online digital product (Steam, Epic Store), Online shopping (Shopee, Lazada), Offline Shopping (groceries, Aeon, Tesco, electronic device etc), F&B (Mamak, Foodpanda, Airasia), Car Loan (if possible). Should be spending around RM1000-2000 for all these.

5. Interested in CC from: Citibank Cash Back Card, Standard Charted SIMPLY CASH CREDIT CARD
*
why are you interested in SC Simply Cash when your monthly recurring spending is below RM 2,500?
citi cash back or uob one classic would be more ideal for your usage
complement with Public Islamic Visa Platinum or Affin Duo Visa should cover most of your expenses

should not be discouraged by the annual fee if the annual cash back is significantly greater

For cashback (online, eWallet), is the RHB Shell now a better card than Affin Bank Cash Back?

Not sure if I'm missing any details..
*
wrong section btw

depending on your usage
if purely online + ewallet
effective cash back
RHB Shell: RM 50 / RM 2,500 = 2%
Affin Visa: RM 50 / RM 3,050 = 1.6% ; RM 30, 3% if spending RM 1,000 or below

since you have so many cards, you should know which is more appropriate for her usage
how did she apply m2gold? there were multiple reports that the m2u application has been rejected but subsequently approved via email application

The Citibank "grocery" list doesn't include Speedmart etc. Very restrictive list. I'd rather advice to get the HLB Wise Visa. He should be able to max out the RM60 by planning around the weekend spend.
*
not an issue if grabpay is accepted
they are not mutually exclusive anyway

3. Card required for: Online transactions (local and overseas) > bills > lifestyle shopping (clothes, shoes, dining) > travel (local, overseas)

6. Others: Malaysian, a decade working. Already using the mentioned CC for petrol and health insurance. Perhaps better if I move the insurance payment to the new CC. My salary comes in RHB, so maybe better to have RHB card. But prefer another bank than RHB and maybank because of my savings strategy. No strong preference in cash back or reward points. Not looking for Shariah compliant card if possible, but will take it still if it's the best match for my use.
*
saving strategy? like save pot and spend pot? lol.gif
Affin Duo/Duo-i
Maybank Islamic amex
Maybank 2 gold/platinum
Maybank Barcelona

Liking the benefits of Affin Duo and Maybank 2 Gold. Not sure the Maybank amex platinum and maybank fcbarca is fit for me.
*
QUOTE
6. Others: No strong preference in cash back or reward points

so Maybank FC Barcelona would be a card for all use

keep in mind that affin duo + maybank 2 gold will come in 4 cards
so far has not been charged sst from affin mastercard if not activated but not sure in the future
maybank 2 gold will be charged RM 50 sst regardless activated or not
also, it is the amex card that provides cashback on weekend spending, no cashback for utilities

depending on your monthly spending
appears that
Affin Duo/Affin Duo-i
or
RHB Shell Visa/RHB Shell Visa-i
fit your usage

Maybank does not provide cashback for ewallet or utilities transaction

thanks. what about alliance bank if I can ask your opinion? They recently launched their virtual credit card and not gonna lie it's quite interesting to me.
*
depending on your preference
i prefer cash back card because my spending is within the cash back cap

unless your spending is way above the cashback cap, or prefer exchanging air miles
not attractive reward for me
for 60,000 timeless bonus point / RM 7,500 spending, you could exchange RM 100 voucher, which is roughly 1.33% cash back

PIV perhaps?
4% cash back, cap at monthly spend of RM 750, no minimum spend requirement

Questions:
1) Oversea bank or local bank is better for credit card?

2) I use TnG ewallet frequently, which has the best perks for reload?
*
overseas bank usually offers higher credit limit?
but it does not really matter, the card benefit is more important
based on your monthly spending, cash back would be more rewarding than points/miles

I read the fine print, a few things worth to take note below:
user posted image

For my utilities bills, I will usually automate the payment.
This will probably fall under the direct debit.
Same goes to TnG e-wallet reload, could be a potential restriction.

There are a few good cashback cards but my spending amount doesn't quite met their target.
Perhaps I am one of the niche market, aside from cashback or rewards, what other perks that are worth to seek for?
*
then u might check out affin visa
it comes in pair, but do not activate mastercard

what benefits are you expecting for sweat.gif
0% instalment?
i priortise cashback, so the rest is out of my league

Bills - rm300+-
Groceries - rm600+-
Petrol - rm160+-
Public transport - rm210+-

5. Interested in CC from: MBB - I have been reading thru some pages here and considering these 3 cc - MBB 2 cards, MBB Ikhwan and MBB Barcelona but I'm on the fence which one to choose.
*
depending on what bills u r referring to (utilities/mobile)?
public transport payment method?

barcelona 1% --> assuming all eligible for cashback = RM 12.70
if only spend petrol or groceries on Friday/Saturday, MBB Ikhwan --> RM 38
m2 cards if amex is accepted payment & spending on Sat/Sun, SST RM 25 x 2
if bills were TM, could probably max monthly cashback to RM 50, so additional cashback could cover the extra SST (RM 12 x 12 - RM 25 = RM 119)

should be able to convert with Affin card, if the amount is > RM 2,000
need to apply though
