I just started working and have been researching which credit card is suitable for fresh graduates who are starting their careers (with an annual income of RM24,000) and trying to build a good credit score for future loans. I found that the UOB One Credit Card is often referred to as the "first credit card" and is frequently mentioned on Xiao Hong Shu and Facebook because it’s easy to get, has simple terms, low fees, and offers attractive cashback rewards. Its ease of approval and reputation as a trusted bank make it a popular choice for first-time credit card users. Is this true?

I didn’t choose the HLB Wize card because its weekday benefits didn’t seem that great, though the weekend cashback is quite impressive. After considering everything, I decided to go with the UOB One. That’s why I’m asking here: Is there any other credit card that might be more suitable than the UOB One? Please recommend one for me!   notworthy.gif  I plan to use it for daily purchases like groceries, occasionally for petrol, and sometimes for entertainment.

3. Card required for: Cashback

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank Ikhwan, Uob one  Rhb world master

Spending on monthly as below

Petrol Rm100 -Rm150
Grab Rm150 - Rm250
Grocery Rm400 - Rm 800
*
is your uob one classic or platinum?
have you maxed out the cashback from maybank ikhwan and uob one?
those 2 cards (if maybank ikhwan mastercard & uob one classic) should cover your needs adequately

planning to purchase electrical appliances for new house using Shopee through credit card installment. I see that only three banks are accepted, CIMB Maybank and PBB. Wondering which cc from these banks are the best to apply to? Currently I have affin duo and rhb shell, but neither these two are accepted as cc installment in shopee.

if u r fine with 12-month tenure,
could potentially utilise the Affin 0% 12-m FPP manually but ensure sufficient time between buying/posting date and statement date
alternatively, utilise your RHB shell cash back quota and Affin 0% 12-m balance transfer
either way, might need to wait for a while because the current promotion last until 30 June 2025, hopefully they will be extended

if both cash back from affin duo & rhb shell had been maxed out, MBI Amex could provide additional RM 50 cash back

No Amex. You thinking Amex KF?
*
i think he was referring to the unlimited cash back card
if u could somehow get business/corporate credit card, should be able to get cash back without cap

3. Card required for:
Mostly for groceries >RM 1500 monthly
Online shopping >RM 11000
E-wallet >RM 300
Fuel >RM 300, but may be lower on certain periods

5. Interested in CC from: Any but now eyeing CIMBs.

Main goal: Just need another CC to main for Cashback for groceries, online shopping, SPayLater, and fuel. Prefer not to be tied to weekends only because of my work schedule
*
which CIMB card? I could think of Alliance Visa Signature but not quite attractive
what a shame that weekend card would be a dealbreaker, otherwise could have gone for a combination of Maybank2Platinum + Maybank Ikhwan Mastercard + Bank Islam Visa Platinum

e-money / online banking mainly replace cash / cheque.
cc is credit business. competition is BNPL.
20% growth rate for card business is very good.

3. Card required for: Petrol, grocery, insurance, bill

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
- Maybank 2 Amex platinum (activated Amex only, Visa still inside the envelope and didn't activate)

5. Interested in CC from: Any

Saw a lot of you recommend Affin Duo, but how it works? Can I just activate the VISA only?
*
are you new cardmember of Maybank?
would be interesting if they did not charge SST on Visa card 3 months after approval date, according to their FAQ

for Affin duo, it is possible to activate Visa only

unless you have fully utilised/unable to utilise Amex, Affin duo should complement nicely

Not really consider new cardmember for Maybank, guess using around 2022 or 2023, cannot remember
And as of now still didn't charge RM25 SST for my Visa, and MAE apps still showing pending activation icon_idea.gif
Every month I easily fully utilized RM50 cashback for my Amex, that why thinking alternate cash back card

Miss old days Public bank quantum card, too bad benefit had change hence terminated

Though looking for HSBC Live+, looks like affin duo is the best

Btw how you all fully hit affin duo (visa) cashback?
*
interesting, i'll try not activating it on next renewal
what do you spend on amex though? if online, you could check out maybank islamic amex

ya, terminated quantum visa too, no match for maybank fc barcelona

how is HSBC live+ fitting your need (dining, grocery, insurance bill)?
if you hardly hit RM 3k spending, how is 2% cash back attractive?

you could simply consolidate payment by applying 0% balance transfer from maybank to affin
and you will need around RM 1,667 spending in those eligible transactions (online, auto-billing...)
as long as you statement balance hits RM 3,000 (after cash back) from 2nd statement onwards
