I checked with latest TnC version July 2017.
https://www.ambank.com.my/ambank/SiteAssets...AmBankTcEng.pdf
Appendix 2 (pg 17)
(b) AmBonus Points are applicable to retail spending only. Interest, finance charges, Cash Advance fees,
balance transfers, quasi cash, other fees and charges imposed by the Bank and outstanding balances
brought forward from the previous month are excluded from AmBonus Point computation. AmBonus
Points are not applicable for the following transactions:
a) any purchase at petrol stations;
b) any payment for charity under the designated Merchant Category Code (MCC) 8398; and
c) any government-related payments under the designated MCC below:- 9211, 9222, 9223, 9311,
9399, 9402, 9405
*
I already Checked the T&C from Generic Normal CC (Gold, Plat, VS, WMC) All Entitled Rewards Point on Government Transaction.
I think Only other Co-Brand or BonusLink CC Can't get Rewards Point from Government Transaction.
Why not you Call CS to check with Them...

For my case cannot waive after 2 years usage.
Why dont consider CIMB Cash Back Plat? 24k annual income,
petrol 2% cb everyday.
UOB one 1% only for weekday.
*
QUOTE(David83 @ Aug 8 2017, 12:31 AM)
To be safe, once AF appears in the statement, don't charge anything to the card anymore.
Request for AF waiver, if refused by the bank. Ask CS to cancel the card on the spot of the call. You no need to pay for the AF.
For UOB, normally they will put your card in the on-hold pool first. One or two days later, the retention team may call you back to offer AF waiver.
The CS and the retention team are two separate team.

shi fu ,

what do u think getting UOB one card mainly for petrol purpose?

i know there is AF, but do u think it is easy to waive the AF ?  hmm.gif
*
Like SzeMeng76 suggested you to get CIMB CR Mastercard becos if is Free for Life, NO need every year call CS request for AF waiver, Hassle-less
As UOB One got their CB cut reduce benefit recently, their card become Less & less interesting now... sweat.gif

I'm Sorry to heard that U have been rejected on MBB Ikhwan, M2C recently, If U Insist or wish to have better CB Return on Petrol, I would suggest Citibank Cash Back Card to You. As AF waiver will subject to their Approval, from time to time. But I can noticed that recently, the Banks they are more Keening to waive the Fee for us jz to retain Us as their Customer compare to last time. Myself, held both UOB, Citibank cards since 2012 also not been charged AF Before, eventually, after they do charge, They waive, revised back for me also nod.gif

Definitely, Both UOB & Citi Card AF will be waived for the 1st Year. However, my UOB cards get me up to 5 Years straight, Fee-less..! bruce.gif
I been told currently NEW Signup of Citibank Cards can get up to 3 Years AF waiver

Jz remember try to request AF Waiver when Your card Annual is Near...! nod.gif

Hope this is the right place to ask:

I'm looking a miscellaneous credit card that could use for insurance, car service maintenance, clothings(H&M, Topshop, G2000 etc) and restaurant that doesn't fall under MCC dining. The usage is more than 1K per month and I'm using HL Essential for this purpose. Is there any alternative better card than HL Essential?
Thank you for your advise.

1. Annual Income: xxx

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must (or at least waiver with conditions)

3. Card required for: Cashback. Details below.

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
sorted by usage/preferrance

  1. Maybank 2 Platinum Card

  2. Public Bank Visa Signature Card

  3. CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Card (less preferred because of the cross-border fees, plus various-level-cashback which is confusing to track)

  4. Citibank Clear Card

5. Interested in CC from: VISA/MASTER only - feel free to recommend

6. Others: Please be specific.
Using credit card for Petrol, Life Insurance, Parking Fees, Utilities (Internet, TNB, Prepaid Reload), Online eCommerce/Digital Purchases, Retail Shopping, sometimes Overseas Transaction (high value during business trip - currently using AMEX during these trips @ 1.25% cash back via TP)

Currently I have (I think) enough coverage for Online Spendings. Problem is for the transactions OUTSIDE of online / dining category (i.e. shopping, retail purchases), especially high-value retail/hotel ones, which does not accept AMEX.
On normal months (i.e. no roadtax/insurance renewal, no surprise transactions), MBB AMEX + PBE VISA Signature is enough to cover my needs. However, on spike-months (be it business trip, surprise/unexpected expenses, insurance/tax renewals or vacations), I will over-cap and these two card are not sufficient for my cashback.

I'm thinking to cut down one card and re-apply something else that will 'fill the gap', and the most ideal candidate to be terminated is Citi Clear (since i barely uses it now and they charged me annual fee and refuses to waive it laugh.gif)

Any recommendations?  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
