1. Annual Income: RM96k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferred or somewhat cashback can cover it

3. Card required for: Cashback. Mainly for petrol, utilities and insurance. Sometimes for groceries, dining, online shopping, etc.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): NIL

5. Interested in CC from: Any

6.Others: Just came back to Malaysia and worked for ~6 months.
Applied for CIMB cash rebate but got rejected.
Currently waiting for decision for Maybank Barcelona but it is already 1 month so am looking for another card in case rejected again.

I am also thinking about HLB wise card, as I have financial records in HLB, which probably make it easier to get my first cc in Malaysia.
What do you think about this card?

Or, should I just apply a basic card without annual fee or essential card with conditional waive to secure a cc to build credit record first?

Btw, does the retails transaction in HLB includes patrol, utilities, internet, etc?
The definition of retail transaction in their website is so vague or the above mentioned are not listed in either include or exclude...
*
retail transactions = any transactions that you pay or purchase, online or shops

hello,
would like to ask if anyone is using Citi Simplicity Mastercard? or, would you recommend this card?

the replies from you guys here are really helpful - after reading them, i know which card is suitable for me and went ahead to apply them tongue.gif

so, thank you!

this citybank simplisity however only gets mentioned 3 times in this thread, i wonder why, the 10% cb looks ok, did i miss something in the t&c?
*
read again......... 10% cb OF WHAT?

Affin Visa Signature >> https://www.affinonline.com/tap_for_cash_back

3% cash back on all contactless transactions (excluding government services and charity transactions), capped at RM80 per month

wave-then-PIN not eligigible.

if you always do physical retail contactless spending, this is a good alternative card. no good for online transactions.

Saw this yesterday, main plan is can it be applied without the Mastercard.  Always prefer cashback over points
6. What are the eWallets that eligible for cash back?
3% cash back will be rewarded on eWallets transaction/reload for the following eWallets:
• BigPay • KiplePay / KiplePark • ShopeePay
• Boost • Lazada Wallet • TaPay
• Fasspay • Mcash • Touch ‘n Go Prepaid Card
• Gkash eWallet • Mpay • Touch ‘n Go eWallet
• GrabPay • Presto Pay • WeChat Pay
• Instapay eWallet • Razer Gold/Pay • Whalet
• Instapay Card • Sarawak Pay

and why la no Setel?
*
2 possible reasons:

1) setel ewallet is new, just barely 2 months old (public availability)/ previous setel ewallet was white-label by kiplepay. maybe affin grant cashback based on certain merchant keywords instead of solely MCC.

2) affin aware that setel is used for Petrol spending (assuming affin doesnt grant cb based on MCC); whereby it would be awarded points for Mastercard, but none for Visa.

*
affin vs ... 3% paywave, max cb RM80 per month, no min spending.

exclusion: govt and charity

caveat: paywave txn RM250 or below (as long as no PIN is entered) --- if PIN ever entered, not eligible! (unlike pb quantum visa)

Hi Sifu,

I have been reading this thread looking for CC that suits me most. I am looking for CC which provide me cashback for ewallet top up and online transaction mostly.

I think for this purpose alone, AFFIN duo CC seems to be the better option with 3% CB and capped at RM80. However, the drawback is that there is no CB for transaction in physical store.

PBB quantum seems like the one which will cover for both online (VISA) and physical retail transaction (Master), but it capped at RM30 per month.

These 2 seems to be the best so far for CB purposes (with no annual fees), am I right?
Thanks in advance.
*
dont know how much you need to spend per month.

rough guestimates...

yes for both affin duo and pb quantum.

if you want, you can get pb visa signature (6% capped RM38 cb for groceries/online/dining) or affin visa signature (3% capped RM80 cb, wave only). AF waiver condition available.

note: exclusions applies, e.g. govt transactions.

Looking for a Credit Card that will give me cashback for Insurance+Autobill for Time Broadband, Mobile Plan Autobill and Utilities (autobill or otherwise)
Total monthly spending for the above category: RM600-RM800

Currently using SCB Just One Plat for autobill but I can't hit the RM2500 spending cap for the maximum returns anymore, just wondering if there's another card (preferably free) that can give me more in terms of cashback.
Other cards I have include MBB 2 Amex, PBB Quantum Master and PBB Visa Signature

any recommendation for someone who only use credit card for emergency purpose and 0% installements for big ticket items?

I dont really believe in cashbacks and travel points at the expense of spending more.

Just need cc to manage my cashflow when purchasing big ticket items or buying emergency things.

just get any maybank card lor, preferably VS or Platinum cards (like FCB VS)

1. Annual Income: 48K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes compulsory waiver

3. Card required for: Cashback (petrol, dining, groceries, online Shopee and TNG top up),utilities. Especially TNG and Shopee top up because I feel that my current cards don’t give anything for those.

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Citibank Cash Back, Maybank 2 Gold, Maybank Barcelona

5. Interested in CC from: I am looking to cancel one or 2 of my cards to apply for the PB Quantum Visa and Mastercard. Especially since the Maybank Barcelona has been nerfed, right after I got it ☹ Is it compulsory to take both PB Quantum Visa and Mastercard like the Maybank 2 Gold? Or can I get either one or the other?

6. Others:

I'm open to all suggestions!
1) Please help to advise what is the best balance to max out credit cards cashback with my current situation.
2) Want to clarify, for PB quantum Mastercard, it says 5% for all online shopping. Does TNG ewallet and Lazada ewallet count? From what I read here, besides gov or auto debit, what are the restrictions?
3) What is the definition of auto debit? I saw someone mentioned that Netflix isn’t included. So anything that is charged monthly automatically isn’t included? As long as I manually pay every month, should be okay right?
4) I saw someone recommending to use the Maybank Amex for Unifi bill. I thought I read somewhere that Maybank has excluded all utilities from cashback for their credit cards? Are Unifi and Maxis broadband eligible for Maybank Amex Cashback?

Thank you in advance!
*
cancel citibank cashback and maybank FCB

for PB Quantum, can apply 1 card. remark it on the application form.

apply Affin Duo for a start >> https://www.affinonline.com/affin_duo , the blue/cashback card is good for ewallets/online/autodebit (subscriptions or even insurance!)

1) above
2) yes, but some say for tng ewallet, dont save the card. enter card details whenever reload. alternative, reload with affin duo.
3) manual payment, yes. autodebit (auto charge every month, no). hard to pinpoint which exactly eligible. alternative, use affin duo for autodebit
4) unifi IS NOT utilities. can pay maxis, unifi, astro bills in M2U Bill Payment. no issues.
