Hi All,

I got CCs from 3 banks

1. PB Quantum Master - retail installments & online
2. Maybank 2 Cards - balance trf & bills on weekends
3. Aeon Big Gold Card - for groceries and sometimes online shopping

I would like to cut on CC usage so I'm deciding which to cancel and which to keep. Any advice?
*
perhaps cut aeon big card.

if your quantum mastercard has spare quota left, reload into bigpay and can use for groceries/online too.

Oh forgot to add, using Aeon Big for plaza premium lounge aso  biggrin.gif

every card you need to use, only you know which to cut.

you said going to spend less, so you decide which type of spending to reduce.

1. Annual Income: RM50K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes or can be waived easily.

3. Card required for:

a) Dining, Petrol, Telco & Utility Bill Payments, Groceries, Cinema (Currently I am using CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Credit Card for these, do let me know if there are alternatives out there with higher cashback.)
b) Insurance Payment
c) Retail & Online Shopping
d) Travel Related Flight Ticket & Hotel Booking etc

4. Existing credit cards (if any): CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum Credit Card (Mainly for 12% on weekend dining and 2% on petrol, telco & utility bill payment, groceries, cinema. I did not manage to get 5% cashback because I could barely hit monthly spending RM3000 & above.)

5. Interested in CC from: Any

6. Others: I am looking for no minimum spend or RM500~RM1000 low minimum spend cash back credit cards. I don't like the hassle to accumulate reward points or miles while keep tracking their expiry date and being forced to redeem rewards which I don't really need it.

Kindly please recommend a few credit cards which suit my requirement as above. Thanks in advance.
*
PB Quantum Mastercard and Visa*

*Quantum Visa will be very useful from 1 Sep 2019, which gives 5% cashback for contactless payment (groceries, cinema counter, or petrol). good to replace CIMB CR (reserve for 12% dining only).

Quantum Mastercard 5% cashback for Dining and Online now. To be revised to Online only from 1 Sep 2019. good for telco/utilities, cinema app, etc)

both cards, no minimum spend. max cashback RM30 per month, translates to about RM600 spending.

Which one is the best cashback petrol card?
No annual fee, no minimum spending (only pump rm150 per month)
Currently holding PBB quantum visa & master only
*
if no brand preference:

affin-bhp, 10% for weekend at BHP. promo end 30 November 2019.
mbb ikhwan visa petronas, 8% for weekend at Petronas.

others can be 5% from m2c amex at weekend or 5% mbb ikhwan mastercard on fri/sat.

Can recommend Best cashback for petrol and utilities bill? I pump bhp
*
addon from above suggestion:

1) from 1 Sep, possibly can use PBB Quantum Visa, 5% contactless anyday. bhp's kiosk accept wave, can try it later.
2) SCB JOP with 15% cashback. need a little work since it need rm2500+ monthly spending to hit 15% cb tier.

yes. before that, was thinking is there any better card to apply like UOB one card, yolo or cimb cash back.
*
depends on "better" definition.

yes, you can try uob one/yolo or even cimb cr. do study the card's features (and its limitations), sometimes the limitation is not favorable to your spending behavior.

Time to move on to a new thread. I'm in favor of a new TS to open the new thread version. Prospective TS please PM me and myself giving the green light for a new version.

Please do not start a new version nor attempt to circumnavigate by creating a similar topic without my go ahead - it will be removed & stopped without prejudice.

btw, made a few credit card application. on eccris, it shows 'pending' status but already have credit limit. does it mean it will be approved soon? hmmmm
*
not really. when banks processing your application, they pre-assigned an estimated CL before updated into CCRIS.

yes, with a condition to "earn" this benefit.

Hi Charles

As I'm not a PR, min yearly income needed to get CC for foreigner is SGD40k and my salary is way lower
Plus Singapore CC only have 2 years annual fee waived...
Another point is we usually go to JB or hometown to do shopping smile.gif
So im thinking to get malaysia CC instead, Seek your recommendation

with your income in SGD, do note that banks here look at it as 1:1 rate. meaning your SGD 27.6k income is assessed as 27.6k, not after currency conversion to MYR.

There is an important question missing from the template of questions.

The missing question goes something like this: How much do you expect to spend monthly?

There are many "benefits" which will only apply above a certain spending amount per month.
*
yes, have been repeating this question to user asking for recommendation.

what's the average spending per category, per month. then a more proper response suits the user
