Since 2000. My dad account. I do remember getting the large Philips decoder. It is so damn ugly and big. And expensive too. Costs around RM700+ for installation.

Anyhow no issues because astro didn't add any more HD channels So existing one is just okay...

But, that doesn't mean you also will be not charge for 3 month also.

Still need to pay monthly bill. You subscribe Super Pack. And then, astro give all channels for free except premium channel. 3 month for FREE? I'm will never be on this trap. You still need to pay them every month anyway...

Measat 3b has a lot of bandwidth not fully use.

I think they cleverly save cost to not to launch Measat 3c earlier because they don't want Measat 3c will be not fully utilised & waste lifetime spend for this new satelite.

Maybe, after Measat 3b almost full usage. Then, Measat will launch Measat 3c...

Well astro is profit making organization.. Somehow they still will try their best to collect some $$$ from the people

As for the measat satellite... That's the most likely reason.. Current satellite still have space for future usage.. And since MYR is weak against USD, so not economically viable to have another satellite maybe waiting for USD/MYR to be 3.00 level

What happened in 2015 will not be recovered 4 another 10 years

Launch in September 2014. Now 2017.
3 years lifetime spend already. 15 years is the max number till that satellite no energy...

Once drop.. Hard to go up again..
I mean back to 3.xx level again

Need to get rid current gov first, then only Ansa & better RM>USD goes.

How I wish can change current regime..
But looking at multiple corners fights for upcoming GE..
Doubt can happen

So I assume that the price for one (1) Ku band transponder from Measat is:
*correct me if I'm wrong

First 2 years: US$1.8mil (approx RM7.6 mil) per year
After 2nd year, the amount for next 4 years: US$2mil (RM8.4mil) per year
6th year onwards: US$2.2mil (RM9.2mil) per year

Hmm... Feels like kinda expensive to me... Does anyone knows what is the transponder leasing price rates for other commercial satellite operators like Asiasat, ABS, SES all those?

I know we already discuss about this satellite thingy for Ansa to use in page 130 astro byond v13 tered. But, seems like our Measat company not really help. So, i think ABS is suitable for Ansa.

I think Ansa can afford to use ABS 2A satellite service. All location in Malaysia is covered with this new satellite. Just check ABS website & this satelite just start service in 21st January 2017(which is ABS new satellite).

Also check lyngsat page. I see ABS 2A is not fully utilized yet. This new ABS 2A satellite got 48 Ku-band transponder that cover SEA coverage including our country in Malaysia. Maybe, me hope that Ansa can enter deal with ABS to use new ABS 2A satellite to offer Pay TV service in Malaysia...

The question is, how much transponder leasing price for ABS 2A satellite? Is it their pricing is much more cheaper than Measat, even ABS 2A just launch 14 June 2016. Enter service in 21 January 2017. Hope is either slim or we might see miracle(right there)...

Ah, that is Thailand's free-to-view TV provider, IPM. Just purchase the STB and enjoy it for life. No monthly fees, no such thing as "prepaid channels" like Njoi Prepaid, or whatsoever.
Thankfully, the Ku band coverage is big enough to cover entire Peninsular Malaysia, lucky for Thai people residing in Malaysia

But for me, hmmm not so interested with Thai shows la...
And btw, the SD/HD quality from IPM is pretty bad, worse than Astro's quality cuz they use even lower video bitrate.
