QUOTE(DarkL1ghT @ Jun 9 2008, 10:44 PM) Hello all. A not-so-forum newbie here. Only lurk around when I need to buy stuffs and this time around I was looking for a pair of IEMs. After browsing for a week or so I got to know of the Mylarones which are all the rage for this past year. Since their price is also quite nice I decided mebbe I should go for them. Also, since I'm visiting family in Singapore I thought, why not go to Jaben in Adelphi straight? Hehe. Nice that you enjoy Jaben there. And so I went there today la. The famous Wilson was there also although he was kinda busy at the time and one of his assistants helped me out. I said that I wanted the Mylars but wanna try all 1st. He said no prob and took out all 4 and started from the XBi all the way to SVi. Stupidly my phone adapter buat hal so I had to borrow their iPod which may have been a good thing. And so the next hour plus was spent auditioning all 4 phones. Each I tried on 3 different music genre since I'm quite a universal listener and I listened to RnB, rock and jazz on the iPod. I found the XBi quite bassy but was still nice and went down each of it's siblings. At last, I decided on the X3i. Not only did I prefer the sound that it gave off but it was the only phone in the Mylar series that made me smile super wide when I put it on. Sorry la cannot elaborate better on the sound coz me no pro audiophile So I said that I prefer the X3i and actually a bit gatal to try others in the performance range (note: not price range Overall I must say, Jaben is quite a nice place to be. I think when I venture into the headphones world I defo will drop by here again. And since I didn't have an iPod, I got a USB hub as a gift not an iPod case. Not bad la..hehehe. PS. I got the Rubies Actually if you are at KL, yuheng's house is also good for interested buyers. Demos can be found over there. As for his service... No need to mention a lot will |

Wah, I never knew there was such a 'heated' debate between philips and crossroads here in this thread.
I've owned a pair of Sony MDR-EX52SL, and I would say that just like every other mass marketed brand, it's for the masses, not audiophiles. And there will always be heated debates between fans, so there is really no avoiding that. You just need to try them both out, and see which one suits you best. Don't buy into advertising or even friends advice... if you like it, then it's good for you. People just need to learn what they like and what they don't. I personally have used a pair of xBi's and I find that they are really bang for your buck, but I'm selling mine off as I already have a pair of Shure's which isolations tops all of the above. I would recommend crossroads to everyone one that I know who is looking for a good pair of buds, but I would always tell them to give it a listen first before purchasing. |

QUOTE(lucaswjk @ Jun 27 2008, 09:38 PM) MylarOne X3i Black Blue/Red Ring new user reporting in pls burn in it, and use less powerout put, i found that ur listening volume is far too high, u will ignore alot of details on loud listening, pls do bear in mind more on instrument presentation, soundstaging, extension on frequency and accurateness of music. this is the major improvement, pls do in mind that we tend to require sound accurate from recording or live, rather than over frequency extension Added on June 27, 2008, 9:55 pmX3i bass is too airy, not much power and the treble doesn't sound as musical as claimed. It's because you record the music incorrectly. If you listen to ori cd then different.

16GB is not so sufficient for space hungry lossless format.

Actually at recently at Sony Style you have the chance to test the MDR-EX700 and PFR-V1 The V1 soundstage is just humongous. I actually cant tell where the sound came from.... |
