from my mbsb br manager. Call your br to find out.
those that mature in 2018 and beyond aftected.

I was given the withdrawal and new placement forms today, surprised to find out all same old MBSB forms!

If your FD next 6 monthly interests to be paid on 15/11/2017,
you can "extend" your FD to enjoy the 4.7% rate longer,
by doing prem withdrawal just before that interest is paid out,

Show you 2 examples that i plan to convert only on 10/11/2017

1)RM50,000 4.7% from 15/5/2013 - 15/5/2018 ---------->RM51152.47  @4.7% maturity  12/11/2018
2)RM50,800 4.7% from 15/5/2014 - 15/5/2019------------->RM51970.91  @4.7% maturity  13/11/2019
*
Hi, I also got a call from the branch, the officer said the tenure will follow the remaining period, can extend only up to the nearest term in their system. In your examples, the extension is almost 6 months, Can we extend so long?

Also, I am quite hesitate to convert the FD as the officer said my FD is under the Product called Exclusive 5, as we are getting half-yearly interest, when we uplift the existing FD, the principal will be deducted with the interest already paid to us. Wow, that is really not fair that if the principal is deducted, then the future interest will also shrink?

Is this true that they will deduct our principal amount? So it will take 1 day to convert and we will miss 1 day interest for all conversion?

Have you already converted? Pls share your experience.

Felt confusing and Appreciate for your info.

In MBSB this morning, wanted to withdraw the FD. They only provide xfer to MBB only ! doh.gif If want to xfer to other banks then they said need 3 days as it need HQ approval.  doh.gif

So I asked for cheque which is max 50k per cheque. So I said then give me cheque.  devil.gif It came out to be numerous cheques.  brows.gif Well, not my problem except they will charge me for each cheque like 60 cents per cheque.  tongue.gif

Then they counterpropose if 4.3% will I stayput ? (yesterday nego 4.25% only but I asked for 4.3%). I said yes. After 5 minutes, said HQ agreed. Interest on maturity.

Anyway that seems to be a good deal.  rclxms.gif

Is your amount more than RM500k? can get this rate for lower amount? like 100k?

With 100k, u can always talk to banks to nego. Though not all banks will entertain.  biggrin.gif
Pulling out the dough, something that is inconvenient to them (like issuing multiple cheques) etc. What else ??  brows.gif  devil.gif

With my 100k, don't know can get 4.3% or not. I need indication so that can negotiate with Mbsb or bank. What do you think? with 100k, what is the highest rate you may negotiate?

Hahaha, it is hard to say. Who knows u may get higher than 4.3%. U can always ask for higher than even 4.3% from MBSB and see what they says. It depends on branch and they willingness to ask HQ for approval. Also depends on how eager they need add'l fund which may change from time to time.

But HL eFD 4.2% with monthly interest is a good deal as well. With the monthly interest, u can use it for add'l FD, combining with other funds, to get higher eff FD yield. So it may not be worth the effort to nego with banks with 100k esp if u have to travel some distance, parking issue, open new accts etc.

So, bro, all up to u !  biggrin.gif
*
I scared if I asked for 4.3% they will think that u only RM100k also want to bargain so much, looks so greedy!

My FD maturing next week is in Mbsb, that's why I hope they can give better rates, so that I don't have the hassle to move around.

and for the Hong Leong eFD, it needs to do with the FPX, right? if withdraw from Mbsb cannot do Fpx, can only use cheque, not viable also.

One more thing about MBSB. Just received an email from them on "MBSB Sustainability Survey". Did u receive it ?

Going to complain about their options for matured FD. Cheque of up to 50k only or transfer to MBB only or 3 days for xfer to other banks !  mad.gif
*
Yes, I received the email on the Survey too. emm, good point, I also felt quite troublesome on that.

OK, for my case, they called HQ and called me back 10 minutes later on the 4.25% which I rejected. Then the next day when I want to withdraw, they confirmed with HQ on 4.3% also about 5 minutes later.

Anyway looks like u have to wait till Monday. Let us know if they give u 4.3%. Good luck !  thumbup.gif

You called the branch before maturity or u just walk in on maturity date to ask for the rate?

I felt that my branch here is quite inefficient, always need to take very long time to process for little things! yawn.gif

It is branch related, some branch can be more efficient than others.  doh.gif Also related to bank management, culture etc.

It is best to call them before maturity. Over the phone they offered 4.25% which I declined. On maturity day, after the hassle of xfer and cheque of 50k, they gave 4.3%.  biggrin.gif
*
4.25% is quite good already, why reject? got better rate elsewhere?

devil.gif Wa, persistent question ! laugh.gif

Was planning for other investment, like the 0.3 figure than 0.25. brows.gif Anyway, it is up to each individual to consider if an offer is good enough for the dough. biggrin.gif

I'm thinking whether to take if they just offer 4.2-4.25%, so need the expert advice bah! icon_question.gif

I thought it was a trick to bargain a better rate at first! devil.gif

Well, Mbsb just called me, they can only give 4.2% and interest at maturity. So, I said I am thinking to switch. They said if need higher rate, they can give me 4.35% for 5 years, monthly interest. is it a good deal?

but the tenure quite long, interest rate going to increase, right?

Did you place for 5 years before? how much is the rate given?

SA required for PBe internet banking. not for FD.

you asked to check FD online, that question i'm not sure. i was curious too because my parents' PBe accounts doesnt display their OTC FD placements (cert-based).
*
You have to ask the Pbb officer to link your FD to your online banking when placing FD in order to view it online.

I have SA with Pbb, and linked the FD to the SA online banking, so that can view it online. Not sure can view the FD without the SA or not.

Yesterday went to AFFIN Bank (Taman Midah branch). The FD promo as attached:
1M - 3.2%
3M - 3.4%
6M - 3.5%
9M - 3.5%
12M - 4.0%
15M - 4.15%
18M - 4.2% (with CASA terms)
24M - 4.25% (with CASA terms)
*
So the offer 15M-4.38%, 18M-4.48%, 24M -4.58% , with CASA terms, are not available anymore?
