Can I check if this RM10k needs to be earmarked? Previously RM10k need to put in, but can withdraw the next day. System earmarked?
*
Just checked with the AMBank branch manager this amount will not be earmarked. Normally if you don't sign any terms and conditions for the FD, then bank will not system earmark and later insist cannot pay you the interest because you took out the 10k.

Now it seems all FD moving up. Citibank is giving me 2.5% 1 year (special appeal) for old fund. Now I am thinking of either moving it to AMBank 2 years 2.85% (10k in CASA, troublesome to later go withdraw) or keep in Citibank. Seems now is either AMbank or 1 year 2.5%....

For today's case, it is eFD matured. So everything done online. Xfer out the fund, then FPX for online placement.
Interesting, Citibank has announced out of retail market in the future. But when and how it will affect FD, UT, etc etc.
*
It will be sold to some other banks and all related FDs etc will have to be honoured. Personally I feel safer with Citibank than AMBank, then again the worst that can happen to AMBank will be bought up by another local player.

Hi guys,

Just went to AMbank with a new personal cheque and effective FD date is today, 2 years 2.85% paid half yearly interest. Please note one cheque to be split xx FD and 10k CASA which I can withdraw once cheque cleared. Meaning Fri I have to go down to withdraw the 10k.

Now I might just buy some AMBank shares in hope they will get bought up soon... LOL.

The 10k is not already inside CASA? Else you can withdraw on the same day.
*
That's the point I am trying to make. One cheque and they will split for you, no need 2 cheques or money already in CASA. CASA less than 100rm currently. I never bother to ask for more % since my amount not small. Check with the BM before you go down, because this method might be branch specific.

To keep her happy, i have done rm100k (8 month 2.33) OTC last week.

I told her we will do more OTC when the Covid situation is better. At the moment i have all my efd with Public Bank with terms 1,2 and 3 months (rate is 2.0 for 1 month, 2.1 for 2 months and 2.2 for 3 months).

I have given my wife all my username and passwords with all my banks here and in Australia so she should be able to withdraw them (we have a joint account linked in to my efd) if anything happens to me. Also, my wills are all up to date (i have one will for all my Msian assets and also another will in Sydney for all my Australian assets  smile.gif )

Sometimes i find it very hard to understand women  smile.gif . Give me so much headache tongue.gif
*
Are you Malaysian or Australian? Based on my lawyer in Malaysia for Malaysians, it is best to have only one will to avoid complications even for assets in abroad. Don't know why, so even for assets in Singapore our will done in Malaysia too. ie not recommended to have 2 different wills in different countries. Exact reasons why I still don't know. Maybe some Malaysia law thing?

Some foreign banks like Citibank and HSBC, or even CIMB, their RM will come to your house for transactions. But now covid maybe they won't.

Latest rate from Affin effective today.

No need Fresh Fund. Invikta 2.45% 12 months or above, normal 2.40%

Seems like rather low.

CIMB FD is lower, but their TIA is 2.55%. Citibank still 2.5%.

Just to add on, depending on the amount you put in, possible to request CIMB and Citibank to give you higher rate. I just got higher rate from both banks. 0.05% higher.

wow 0.5% higher. must be a lot of money.

CB wise, they seldom has high FD promo, I have an acct there. Occasionally for pure FD, they may offer high FD for high amts like 500k, but will be like compatible to highest FD offer at that period of time.

Did u mean u got from 2.5% to 3.0% from CB for pure FD ? Or it is from 2.0% to 2.5% ? Not bundled with UT ? Also for 1 year or more FD ?

I think you mean 0.05% higher?

OPR is maintained but Affin reduces its rate from 2.50% to 2.40%  bruce.gif
*
Hahaha. Paiseh. I mean 0.05%. Getting old lah. 2.55%. CIMB also 0.05% more but their FD rate too low to begin with.

Haha you see so many eagles already about to move their fund to CIMB if 0.5% higher
*
Hahaha my apologies for the mistake. CIMB FD is rather low actually, less than 2.4% even. Only their TIA is higher at 2.55% but TIA has a chance of not giving you the full interest rate promised. Though I put TIA before and they gave me full rate.

It seems Bank M gives highest so far but need to go make new account and hardly any bank M around my area. I will put in Citibank 2.55%...

May I know how do I get the information about TIA 2.55% at CIMB, I called up branch in Penang as well as customer services at HQ, no one knows about this promotion.
Can place  it with Cimb clicks ?
*
Doubt this is promotion, ask them Tia rate 2.55% for fresh fund. I think Tia only available over the counter as they need you to sign forms indicating you know the risks etc.

It seems now Affin is having a FD promotion. That's what the branch manager told me, 2.6% for 18 months and 2.55% for 12 months. Mine is renewal. Hope I heard it correct. Will go collect FD certificate one of the days.

Only for OTC? Not available at eFD placement page yet

My branch also called to say it's Invikta rate.
Offered to renew my OTC placements without me going to branch.
Affin is usually not fussy about funds being "fresh" for their promo
As of last month, they still insist I need to go branch to renew matured OTC placement.
*
I don't know the real criteria for this whether you need invikta or not. FYI I am invikta customer though without a debit card or cheque book lol. Tomorrow I will check if the fd renewed correctly or not if not need to go withdraw. 2.6% for 18 months quite good rate.

Affin rate expired 20th Jan 2022. Anyone has updated rate?

FYI for those high amounts (6 digits) and priority banking, please talk to your RM or branch manager for better rates. You might be surprised.

Normally CIMB and Citibank will give me 0.05% or more than their promo or published rate. AMBank also quite "flexible" with their rates.

Hi all,

I got offered 2.7% 12 months FF at Citibank. Is this the best rate around? Very tempted to go in even though Citibank Malaysia getting bought by UOB.

I think for 12 months it is the best. Affin might offer more but that's 24 to 36 months...

Anyone knows if the 2.8% 24 months offered by Hong Leong bank can be OTC? I understand is eFD and via FPX, but just wondering if anyone asked. Seems like highest rate now.

do banks still offer periodical interest crediting for FD above 12 months ? Checked with a couple, apparently, banks do not offer them anymore.

Kindly correct me if I am wrong.
*
Try affin and ambank, but mainly senior citizen fd got monthly or every 6 months interest. Public bank last time also got, now not sure.
