Haha, I hope for next few weeks I don't have to move everything to HL. BR FD is maturing and hoping that they can match the 4.3% at least. Was told that they may have new promo before CNY. Waiting for that.  biggrin.gif
*
Thanks, it was really only 53 Sen for bc at mbb for fd!

When I was there, I overheard they offering 4.1% 15 months for existing funds and 4.3% for 250k fresh funds I think?

Ambank initially offered 4.2% 12 months but after asking them to check again is 4.25%

I hear u loud and clear ! biggrin.gif But since 2 of us has the same info, I would tend to believe 4.2% is more likely to be true. Unless AmBank changed it again. As we know they have been quite dynamic about it. I would just leave it at that, anyway since HL 4.3% is still better.  biggrin.gif
*
Yes, that member is me biggrin.gif
I too had to argue with the Ambank teller & showed my whatsap message from my RM before she asked her manager to double confirm the 4.25%.

I also found out HL's 4.3% 12 months is still on but I was rushing for time, literally left my BC with the Ambank teller to process it for me & I even told her if really cannot get 4.25%, then i'll still take 4.2% as the manager was still checking at that time.

QUOTE(gsc @ Jan 10 2018, 02:50 PM)
So the outcome is 4.2 or 4.25% for 12 months
*
I haven't collected the cert but in my online account, is stated as 4.25% 12 months.
Amount is about 100k, small change for you tongue.gif

Good observation !  thumbup.gif

AmBank 3 yrs 4.5% FD also maturing in Jan 2018. I only left with AmBank 5 yrs 4.55% FD. They have to raise the rate to compete with HL 4.3%. I have told them when I withdrew this week.  biggrin.gif

HL wise for renewal offering slightly lower rate. Made people using technique to get the better rate.  laugh.gif

BR FD's maturing soon, interesting to see if they have new promo's !  smile.gif
*
Ya my BR FDs maturing soon too in early Feb & early March 4.55% 24 months previously brows.gif
Hopefully there'll be new promos that will be closer to that rate

Yeah I instant transfer to fave payee but no need TAC. But I also have done IBG to same fav payee  - need TAC.

That's why i'm perplexed

PS: fave payee in other bank eg HLB >> fave payee in PBB
*
How about amount? Is it similar? Now with Ambank, Affin & RHB, if above RM10k you even need to approve using a mobile app.

but service still good- home delivery just now..

You're definitely their big customer. I went to uplift my FD just now & got this sort of response from them:
Rates just increased to 3.85% 12 months this year normal board rate, if you want above 4%, then you may transfer the FD out, gone are those 4.6% days cry.gif

I even asked for ang pow packets but they said no such thing.

U still got left 1/3.  rclxms.gif I left 1/8 and no longer their Xclusive customer.  tongue.gif
His is BIG boss/customer.  thumbsup.gif

Soon I will have 0 FD there already. BR seems no longer need too much deposits, their FD promo has died out for quite some time already. Keep hearing may have promo before Raya (2017) until CNY. But no FD promo's.  devil.gif
*
When you fall below the Xclusive requirement, you just surrendered you membership or they informed you?

I think at the rate I'm going, will be the same here too, 0 FD.

BR fd board rate is 3.7% for 12 months, ask for special rate OTC, it is 3.85%.

As to whether there will be "new promotions" from financial institutions, please have a look at their latest Q reports and look at the ratios.

That is an indication of whether the institution will have any promo FDs in the future.  smile.gif
*
I went to BR on CNY eve 15 February.. They said their current board rate is has been increased from 3.7% to 3.85%.
At BR Xclusive in Bangsar HQ, I could get nego rate of only 4%, be it existing or new funds. I also managed to get angpow packets & a kit kat gift set for CNY.
At branch level, no nego rate & no angpow / gifts

From my end, UOB only offering 4.3% 12 months at Damansara & Kepong branch but monthly interest.

U still have FD with BR? Mine is ending next month. No more Xclusive member with them.  devil.gif

Did they send hamper to u ?
*
I'm currently at the crossroads of being Xclusive & non, that is why I went to the HQ to get their free gifts one last time & free parking. cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif
And nope, still didn't get hamper from them.
They're quite detail when asking for nego rate to the extend they print out the records of all my savings & FD accounts.

Try AmBank 4.35% 12mth but need to ask for approval first.  biggrin.gif

I'm currently considering between Ambank, UOB & HL.
I've been very busy until I forgot that my UOB account became dormant in January, so went there to activate it but they said it does not get updated instantly so could not transfer from BR on that day.

My next target will be OCBC 12 mth 4.38%. Why don't u try AmBank for 4.35%. As I said earlier, get RM or BM to ask for approval, min 50k.  rclxms.gif
*
Ya i think Ambank maybe more convenient for me as I can 'pre-register' for the new FD with my RM. biggrin.gif

I did that with BR also to pre-authorize the uplift of my FD.

I got a very pleasant surprise from OCBC bank on Friday.

1. They offered my premier banking status with just RM 200k instead of the usual RM 300k since I was a customer with them before (I think)

2. Being a premier customer, I am eligible for 4.5% 12 months FD promo with option monthly crediting of interest!

However, please contact your respective branches as the RM said as far as they know, this promo is only available in Damansara Heights & HQ for Klang Valley area.

They seem to be quite loose, I asked if can topup RM50k later, he said can. He also said is applicable to existing Premier banking customers also for that branch.

I received the call from Kepong yesterday inviting me to join premier, but told me FD is 4.38% pa.
*
I am not sure if Kepong branch has this promo or not, but maybe try probing them further as they also have short term FD promos for Premier customers like for 3 months tenure but I did not register what they told me though.

QUOTE(Cookie101 @ Feb 26 2018, 06:38 AM)
The person who called doesn’t speak well so I casted doubt on him. Could be true but I was travelling so didn’t ask much and it must be above 100k.

*
The way they told me about the 4.5% 12 months promo is also a bit blur as when I told them 5 March I have somemore funds to put, he asked me to check with him when the time comes.

QUOTE(ultraman29 @ Feb 26 2018, 12:57 AM)
4.5% for existing PB customers who already have premier save account? I asked if the rate 4.38% promo was negotiable for the branch u mentioned and they said no.  hmm.gif

I know they have a special promo for new premier save account holders, a slightly higher interest rate FD but they earmark half the funds inside the PSA
*
This one i'm not sure, will check again the exact criteria on 5 March.

All the better, & never got customer appreciation dinner so I was lucky to bump into this 4.5% 12 months at OCBC.

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Feb 26 2018, 04:42 PM)
My OCBC RM is more interested in UT than FD for her clients for obvious reasons.  tongue.gif May lose my OCBC PB status, still waiting for their love letter. But if they are still the best rate by end of the month, will still go back to their embrace.  devil.gif

Not sure if any members from Pg got the 4.5% deal, may call OCBC later to check.
AmBank 4.35% for 12 mth should not be an issue, unless they close it this week. But need HQ approval. My branch was not even aware of it until I asked them and they got HQ confirmation on this 4.35%.

Anyway the OCBC 4.5% deal is still much better.  rclxms.gif
*
Now that I have the direct contact of my Ambank branch manager, I'll ask her if I can no longer get 4.5% promo anymore.

QUOTE(sylar111 @ Feb 26 2018, 07:06 PM)
I know what you mean. The effective % rate is probably not 4.5 percent. You need to have casa perhaps.
*
No need casa if you do not want monthly interest but is free anyway if you don't opt for the debit card. Only issue is no online banking without debit card

QUOTE(siawyent @ Feb 26 2018, 08:33 PM)
Pls keep us posted on the criteria of 4.5%.  I have some fd need to find higher rates to move next week.  Thank you very much, bro. brows.gif
*
He said it is subject to approval of the branch & new premier banking customer.
If you were an ex OCBC customer, they would still have your record & then you can just deposit RM 200k to be eligible for the premier status (but I have a feeling it is not as they offered me at 200k even before knowing I was an ex-customer)

I think there is some typo/edit issue the above reply, please check.

U lucky soul! thumbup.gif Penang side I called and no 4.5% promo, just the 4.38% 12 mth. So now I am thinking of either OCBC 4.38% or AmBank 4.35%. OCBC parking is a nightmare despite their so called PB parking lot (limited) !  biggrin.gif
*
Maybe I should clarify, if I no longer can get the OCBC 4.5% 12 months promo, I may just approach Ambank branch manager to ask for 4.35% (or 4.37%?) 12 months promo. rclxms.gif One issue with OCBC is if use cheque, will need to wait for it to clear before the FD takes effect. vmad.gif

If you don't mind, can you share the picture of FD receipt printed with 4.5% rate ? I want to nego with OCBC Manager. Thanks.
*
Are you an existing Premier customer or going to be one? I haven't manage to get the printout yet & i don't have online banking either.

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Feb 27 2018, 12:20 PM)
OCBC so far for all FD I placed, always start on the day of placement. No need to wait for cheque clearance. U should check with them again on this.

Another point is for monthly interest, tell them to open Mi FD. If not it will be normal FD acct, no monthly interest.
*
I already checked again on it but the response was is for 4.5% promo rate. Maybe he is quite fresh & I did not have time to go to the branch to collect the FD receipt yet. Anyway, finally got confirmation is with Mi FD.

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Mar 1 2018, 03:30 PM)
I'm existing Premier customer. Just last week I placed the FD @ 4.38%, today place again, still 4.38%. My RM has no clue whatsoever on the 4.5%  when asked. Thanks bbgoat for the heads up, successful opened MI FD account for monthly interest crediting. Also opened a BSA account with out fee and without debit card for monthly FD interest crediting.

By the way, if you guys looking for parking temporary fund 100k and above with 3.5% interest, go for Alliance Saveplus account. Can open the account online, can withdraw any time, no annual fee, no transaction fee, free debit card and last but not least, Free RM40 Petronas gift card.
*
Unfortunately, the 4.5% 12 months is only for new Premier customer.

Today only i got the affirmative answer that additional topup can only get 4.38%.

QUOTE(siawyent @ Mar 1 2018, 04:18 PM)
Looks like OCBC 4.5% is only limited to certain branch?
*
Yes, correct. If you're not yet a premier customer, you can become one & get 4.5% at Damansara Heights branch, let me know if you need help.

QUOTE(Nom-el @ Mar 1 2018, 06:54 PM)
I managed to have online banking without a debit card. However, many staff seemed to be unaware of that.
For the conventional OCBC 360 Account, debit card spending is counted as well for the bonus interest.
Monthly.
*
The branch that I go to seems to be very disorganized so I don't think I'm going to argue with them to create my online account.

Unfortunately, I was not able to get 4.4% even asking the branch manager. She said maybe if is a very big amount brought to the bank then only can consider, and not including existing deposits. cry.gif cry.gif so your relative must be some big tycoon. rclxms.gif
