In BR to terminate FD. BR no FD promo for now. So looks like they do not need extra cash. Heard likely to be May that they have FD promo.

Planning for HL eFD Tuesday, parking in MBB to get the 1 day interest.  biggrin.gif

Received below from CIMB RM. But this has been reported before. CIMB 4.2% for Preferred customer, but has to open CA.

[attachmentid=8737292]

I finally decided to go with CIMB last week, but not after debating with the teller at CIMB that 4.2% 12 months promo pays monthly.

Instead of going for their 12 mth 4.2% which require to open CA, I opted for the HL eFD of 9 mth 4.15%.

I heard has to put in RM1k to open the CA and charges if fall below 1k. Anyway next month may go for it with larger amount which will make it more worthwhile (taking into acct of the CA charges).  biggrin.gif
*
I thought you already went for CIMB's 4.2% 12 months promo?

Yes, RM1k to open CA account & must maintain it there. Besides, I can get additional 10,000 bonus points for applying the new CA which I can combine with my credit card.
I was too busy to try Bank Muamalat.

I did place for the CIMB 4.2% 12 mth FD on 29/3. That is a different promo (for Preferred customer) where the branch need to get approval from HQ. No monthly interest option.

The current one for Preferred customer need to open CA and with monthly interest. Just started around 2 weeks ago.

Next month may go for it unless there is a better promo. I guess with bigger FD amount, then the 0.5% as compared to HL eFD will be more worth it (CA charges). Anyway HL eFD will end by Apr month.  biggrin.gif
*
I calculated 0.05% can already make some difference, so imagine 0.3% will make a lot more difference but problem is Bank Muamalat is not easily accessible even in Klang Valley & I don't know what background check will they do & exactly how long it will take.
Perhaps I can try the next round in June when I have other FDs maturing.

QUOTE(buncho89 @ Apr 25 2017, 01:05 PM)
hey do you know where I can find more info on this? Is there any website on it?
My RM say no such monthly interest..only 4.2% p.a.

I mention islamic, they said, mana ada, semua sama sajer.

Are they BS-ing?
*
Sorry to mention these days our service industry is so bad that the customer educates the seller instead! I have done it more than once...
Also, sometimes they try to insist & correct you somemore which is when you need to be firm..
Here is the additional info you can show them (which I also did show):

GIA no more liao. Can't premature uplift and lower interest effective 16 June.

*
This is really bad news, I hope it does not affect the existing GIA promo accounts as I have until December before it matures!
Anybody knows?

QUOTE(bbgoat @ May 26 2017, 11:39 AM)
In CIMB to withdraw FD. Was told the 4.2% for Preferred customer no more since about 2 week ago.

Now Preferred customer can get 4.15%. Normal customer 4.1% still available. Monthly interest option still available for Islamic fd.
*
I still got at 4.2% preferred customer rate on this past Thursday (25 May) with monthly interest

QUOTE(bbgoat @ May 28 2017, 08:40 AM)
I was in CIMB to withdraw earlier placed 4.2% FD (placed 2 weeks ago). The counter girl told me that. 2 weeks ago the BM called me saying the 4.2% will be dropped, which I reported here. But she asked me to call her to get the 4.2% rate. Have also reported here 2 weeks ago. Anyway as I am not interested in the 4.2%, so did not talk to the BM or RM. Friday CB FD/UT combo of 9.99% FD 3 mths. Monday going for Bank Muamalat 4.5% !

Until Muamalat drop the campaign, then may enquire with CIMB again. They are the next highest for 12 mths FD !  biggrin.gif

*
Ya, after this i'll be going with Muamalat also since individual is allowed now, just that have to wait till end of June to have enough funds to put there.
Few things good about this CIMB preferred branch though, I don't have to wait till Wednesday to get the Wow gifts, free parking & good coffee similar to Ambank's tongue.gif

Now my only fear is the Maybank GIA promo, will check with my RM tomorrow.

Ya, Muamalat earlier FD promotion for company account. I thought u have went in as company (director) account.  biggrin.gif

Looks like will miss CIMB WOW gift for FD placement until such time Muamalat stopped the 4.5% promo. Though did collect CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite card last week.  rclxms.gif

MBB GIA i, cannot use it to park temporary funds already (starting Aug 1st ?) !  sad.gif

*
Exactly, they are totally doing away with GIA account! Perhaps they realize the flexibility is too good with interest being too high...

I asked Maybank today & they said any existing GIA placement will not be affected until maturity, but I am asking other Maybanks also just to be sure

QUOTE(kochin @ May 29 2017, 12:05 PM)
muamalat mobile banking.
repeat question.

are they mobile enough to visit individual to set up new fd through personal cheque?

am looking at options without monthly interest since lazy to set up new account to just receive it monthly.

anybody got any dealings with their jaya one, pj or jalan ipoh, kl branch so far?
*
I have gone to Jalan Ipoh branch recently but parking is difficult there & unfortunately, line was down that day too but customer service is not bad, they explained everything in detail.

So tempted to terminate my FDs in RHB which is giving measly 4% and transfer the funds to muamalat for the 4.5%. And the rhb one is gonna mature in September, so might not be worth it.  Sigh.
*
Same here, just checked my Maybank GIA (4.1%) & Affin (4.15% 15 months) is still so long to go, December!
Especially Maybank, so far got no gifts or benefits joining their premier wealth, kinda got cheated sad.gif

QUOTE(cklimm @ May 30 2017, 07:24 PM)
So many mentions about Bank Muamalat, does they have some sort of "priority banking"?
If so, how much to join?
*
I did check their web site before, no such thing.

QUOTE(Bonescythe @ May 30 2017, 05:54 PM)
Ok.. in my next visit for Fd hunt, shud be around august.. i will update u the rate and whether got gifts anot.

Till then.. hav a nice week smile.gif

Furthermore, no harm chatting up the teller too. Eg. I just found out CIMB will reimburse your parking for 2 hours at Jaya if you're their preferred customer.

Went to Affin to terminate FD 12 mth 4.5%, time flies !  biggrin.gif

Met at the counter with one leng lui. So now Affin has new promo for 24 mth 4.3%. For fresh funds on 80k and above. Interest every 6 mths. There is gift for placement depending on FD amt. For say 10k, 50k and 100k different gifts. Starting with pen, note book to 100k an umbrella.

But it looks like they are quite flexible with the 80k placement and fresh fund. For FD renewal just need to top up some amts. It seems that even lower than 80k also can enjoy the 4.3%. So try your luck with Affin if interested at the 4.3% 24 mth FD.

I know someone will ask about Bank Muamalat. That has to wait.  devil.gif
*
In anticipation of some BR funds maturing on Monday, I have already opened a savings account at Bank Muamalat today. First time the branch manager came to talk to me & gave me his name card. Everything same as per reported here:
- if cheque, effective date is the next day
- monthly interest if RM 500k & above

That is the right move. I regretted today did not open the SA on Monday. So u opened BSA with RM20 ?

But eff date story is different from what I heard today. More tomorrow as long story.  biggrin.gif
*
Initial deposit for SA is RM100 but now that you mentioned it, the web site says RM 20 for SA & RM 100 for CA mad.gif
Will take out the rest then.

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Jun 2 2017, 07:59 PM)
Mind to share which branch and FD receipt can be collected on same date (if chq)?
*
As far as I was told, if use cheque, effective date is the next business day & seems like the receipt can only collect on the next day. Didn't pursue much as I am planning to instant transfer from few sources instead.

luckily i read here and found out GIA going to turn bad soon, went to MBB wihdrew all in  a banker's cheque to  Muamalat Seberang Jaya branch, took 1 hr to open 2 FDs 12month @4.5% pa and 1 SA. got  a debit card for online access.login, FD still not visible yet
FD effective date same day, cert collected same day.
100k already can get monthly interest. SA min RM20. Saw the Save and Win campaign, might as well keep min RM500 to join the lucky draw. Lousy souvenir - kiddy coin box
*
Did you go for the GIA 1 year promo last year? If yes, I roughly calculated the average rate at the moment is only around 3.6% which is so not worth it especially is already on the 6th month.

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Jun 3 2017, 01:28 PM)
But if go for CIMB 4.2% or Affin 4.3%, difference of RM600 or RM400 for 200k. Buy even more bags of 10kg Sunwhite AAA premium frangant rice. What is your choice then ?  hmm.gif  laugh.gif

One of the pioneers in this forum got the same 4 days lost. Another one 3 days lost. Both placed on Fridays.  Damx inconsistencies in their administration of FD eff date !  biggrin.gif
*
How about Affin 18 months 4.5% promo? I just remembered about this promo & thinking should I just eventually stick with Affin instead.

QUOTE(cklimm @ Jun 3 2017, 07:00 PM)
If you surf through the Muamalat's main web site, you will not be able to find the link anywhere so I am thinking they removed the link from the main page but forgot to remove this page file from the web server so that is why Google can still pull this page up.

I need to reconfirm, maybe it was till end of May or April.
As sifu bbgoat said, it could only be left 4.3% for 24 months now.

Affin got 4.5% ?

*
My bad guys, no more 4.5%, these are the latest rates I got from Affin Islamic (till 30 June or RM500mil quota):

12 months - 4%
15 months - 4.15%
18 months - 4.2%
24 months - 4.25%

Minimum RM 10k.

Not sure if there is some slight difference with normal Affin though but I could not get any other rates for bigger deposit sum.

Just placed at Bank Muamalat but no gifts & as reported, cannot split the certs to smaller than RM 100k.

Bank Rakyat still no new promo rates, teller also told me not sure why & what is HQ's direction.

On Friday when I was in Affin to uplift the FD, there was flyers showing 24 mth 4.3%. Did u see that today ? I mentioned this last Friday.

Min 80k, I was told. Need to top up if use matured FD. I was shown a table with the 24 mth 4.25% and besides it 4.3% comparison (special rate).

I was unable to get a copy of the flyer and rushing through and did not take any picture.  biggrin.gif
*
Yes I have the flier with me that's why I asked further if there are any other promos like for Rm100k and above and she still said only this at the moment.

I will checkout another branch which is only Affin Bank & not Affin Islamic Bank if I have the time. My Affin's FD maturing end of this month so will take a break till then tongue.gif

Hi.
Yes, i am short of 100k minimum to put into the fixed deposit. Looking to put around 40k ~ 50k for 12 months.
Any comment on CIMB unfixed deposit 4.1% p.a over 12 months?
For 12months can get 3.8% at Affin bank.
TQ.

Affin Bank is offering promo rate of 4% for 12 months, minimum RM10k

Just came back from CIMB. Wanted to put the islamic one to get the monthly. But when I asked for Islamic, yes OK. Then I wanted to confirm the monthly interst, she said no, no such package (must be mgmt direction). Then I asked the next counter lady who did my fd last month, then she said OK, if customer wants just give.

Aiyo, I think all of them have to act everyday. Quite pity. hehe
*
Unfortunately, sometimes we need to educate them instead of them educating the customer.
There's black & white proof which you can show them which I did show them previously:

Is not nobody listen, but i think mostly are interested in using personal cheque as if you use bankers cheque, the cost is about the same as doing RENTAS or instant transfer over the counter.

Also, if I remembered correctly, guy3288 said < 500k could get monthly interest.

After all these, best way is to open SA, xfer fund, then do the FD. Same as what u have done !  thumbsup.gif  thumbup.gif

Well, ya, use instant transfer if the funds are from multiple sources to make up the RM100k. Moreover, just realised the limit has increased to RM50k for BR & Ambank tongue.gif

New info from Muamalat officer. Customer can request top up for the 4.5% FD, min still 100k. So for those guys who has placed for the 4.5%, can call to get approval first.  biggrin.gif
*
I called up the hotline, apparently even top-up is also 4.3% & they don't allow connecting directly to the branch level.
I think chances of getting 4.5% is quite slim, will visit the branch see how.
