Quite a stupid practice - entire bank is close for Fridays prayers for two hours. This mean it is not meant to serve non-Muslim customers 🤣

That is the highest rate in the market for 6 months. I always thot that Banks' auto-renewal policy/system is to renew at the board rate at the time of renewal. The renewal condition is sometimes printed on the FD receipt/advice of deposit.

It is also a bit puzzling that there isn't such a promo rate that we are aware of.

I wonder, did MBSB manually renew for you using a "special" rate?

And can we also get this 4.25% rate if we make a fresh placement now?

I called Bank Islam today and was told their FD is only 4.25% (not 4.5%) for 12 mths at min RM10k. May i know which branch offers 4.5% or is there a special caveat?.

The telebanker also told me that there is a promotion of 5.9% interest if  i open FD+Savings account, with minimum RM7k in FD and 3k in Savings. Total interest will be 5.9%?

Anyone can share the catch for this campaign?

compared to other countries, our rates are still rather low.

but they can't squeeze the biz n consumer borrowers further... elections coming!

my bet is they will go the way of turkiye - keep rates unchanged on the low side, let inflation rise.

Went to affin this morning they mentioned even invikta also not possible to have 4.2% 😭

Anyone gotten 4 2% from affin?

Can sifu give a heads up on how long needed to get an account opened up and place FD in bank islam? I don't have account with them yet. 😅

Those who did not specify autorenewal will presumably not be able to get the same 4.25% rate by requesting for it OTC on the maturity date, since the promo rate is much lower?

MBSB is reversing the banking practice, where fresh funds are given better rates than renewal funds. Honestly don't what to make out of their practice.

Really? Shall I wait a while more to get the higher rate instead?

For this Bank Islam TDT campaign, the profit rate is OPR+1.5%, let say today (17 May 2023) I place a FD with BI, the profit rate is 4.5%. IF BNM revises OPR to 2.75 after six month later, the profit rate on my FD still remains at 4.5% right?

Opened a Bank Islam account by applying online. Chose Cyberjaya branch, went there and completed in less than 20 mins. Will do several IBT and head back next week for the 4.5%.

I asked, and the officer says promo till year end? What?
