Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is it that HLB basic saving account is limited for salary crediting? I'm planning to open an basic saving account (for FD purpose), but was told that I can't open it if it is not for salary crediting.

similar experience with HLB ...told me there's no such account.

I asked cashier to ask manager about the account.
Came out and said "takda"
I said "ok, please issue me letter stating HLB has no such account."
They then said ok, can open the Basic account

My fund in Ocbc getting lower and lower as the interest rate is not attractive. I also have an FD mature this month. Thinking out moving to Am bank. Ocbc is asking to top up to remain PC

Went to 2 hong leong branches just now, and they dont allow me to open a saving account without the atm card.

I think HLB have option 1. Anybody can confirm?

Go to branch that is less crowded or correct timing, probably they will entertain ur request

Shoot an email to customerservice@hlbb.hongleong.com.my and cc to BNM. You'll get a reply the next day from HQ with directives to relevant branch.  Go to the branch and show the email from HQ. In fact in the email, HQ states that they'll will appreciate if we notify HQ should we fail to get co-operation from the relevant branch.

Wow. I guess even though it's for a limited time and it's for new customers but I think it's a sign to come. We can see higher interest rates soon. Damn Should have put my money into short term fd .

I got a very pleasant surprise from OCBC bank on Friday.

1. They offered my premier banking status with just RM 200k instead of the usual RM 300k since I was a customer with them before (I think)

2. Being a premier customer, I am eligible for 4.5% 12 months FD promo with option  monthly crediting of interest!

However, please contact your respective branches as the RM said as far as they know, this promo is only available in Damansara Heights & HQ for Klang Valley area.

YEAH !!! But sadly no such banks in my area

I'm existing Premier customer. Just last week I placed the FD @ 4.38%, today place again, still 4.38%. My RM has no clue whatsoever on the 4.5%  when asked. Thanks bbgoat for the heads up, successful opened MI FD account for monthly interest crediting. Also opened a BSA account with out fee and without debit card for monthly FD interest crediting.

By the way, if you guys looking for parking temporary fund 100k and above with 3.5% interest, go for Alliance Saveplus account. Can open the account online, can withdraw any time, no annual fee, no transaction fee, free debit card and last but not least, Free RM40 Petronas gift card.

Today is the last day for the OCBC 4.38% p.a. FD promo. The new rate is 4.2%. p.a. for 12 months.

OK, no need to be a tycoon to get 4.4% !

12 mth 4.40% Renewal + Top up

valid till 30 March

It seems that the 4.40% is targeting those renewal FD's. 

On the other hand, as "feared"  , AmBank has lowered fresh fund 12 mth from 4.38% to 4.35%.

hey guys, both hlb and cimb bank fd need to go back to home branch to uplift or can do it in other branches, pls advise
