🧧AMBank 4.5% pure FD, OTC @ 18 months. Those 50 years old and above, can apply for monthly interest.
*
The monthly interest is it only OTC?

the same ol question smile.gif

1) what if next month no increase? then you wasted x days profit

2) what if increment not significant? can it cover your x days of waiting from now until new promo rate is out? be mindful opr increase date != promo available date (eg ambank) too

imo, if you have fund now, just lock it down now lor. or put short term fd/versa/kdi until good news come out next opr increment (if any) next month.

if ur fund unlocked next month, just wait a bit.
*
Yep. In the end, not much difference. Short term lose for lower interest rate, If wait, earn back higher rate at later date. BNM has trakc of raising 0.25 everytime. So it's not going to be major jump, especially now US looking at less aggressive interest hike.

Which banks are the ones that you regularly place FD (usually have good promo rates)? I need some suggestion on exploring new banks for FD.

(except for Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Ambank and Bank Rakyat)
*
Just go with whatever bank having best rates. Currently Ambank, PBB, Islamic Bank, MBSB has some good offers.

Won't go with Maybank anymore. Useless bank. Won't even tell you the rates until you have confirmed your deposit! Dem scammer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I often hear that Affin give good rates too!
*
Nah. Affin is just same like other banks. No such thing as regular good rates. Their current promo not attractive at all. I have already moved out all my Affin FDs and closing the savings account next week.

Wanted to place it as a joint account, that's why I wanted to place OTC.
I told her internet says can place online but she said this branch cannot.  sad.gif
*
Eh, internet usage functionality depends on branch?? This is so mess up. Maybe the counter staff told you wrong info? Don't trust them too much. BBMB needs 4 people to have mini meeting how to use their system create a normal FD OTC, right in front of me.

4.8% is the highest rate so far
but surprisingly no one going for it......?
*
Probably 24mths too long. Also does this means PBB confident of interest rates keep picking up and hence tries get more money in at lower rates for them.....

i also give up on OTC - no energy n patience to drive, Q, wait... biggrin.gif
as long as u "enjoy" doing it!

but... each debt card will get charged RM10 or 20 every year, no?
*
I think around RM 8 to RM12 max. Some banks are free if you fulfilled criteria. Anyway, just treat it as small cost of doing business. I can easily move my money to whichever bank who has the best deal of the day.

+1
if PIDM activated,
Malaysia market might be collapse-ING also,
250k or 2.5mil just a digit that time...

but for online banking,
bank automatic split into few account when reach 200k line.
*
But there is a good side of having many account with different banks.. With so many cases of money missing from accounts in banks. At least your many eggs in many baskets will not be wiped out if shit hits the fan.
There was a case FDs over a million also kena, no online banking somemore.

Hopefully UOB has better promo rates next month. They pay monthly interest which is my preference.
*
I have not seen UOB with better rates than other banks for the last 2 years. Usually not attractive.

I think the article stated clear that “Standard Chartered sees BNM raising OPR to 3% in January”
Hence where did the 5% come from??
*
Banks always gives higher than OPR (always go for promotion, never board rates). Now already hit 4% to 4.8%. 5% is realistic if there is further OPR increase.

A learning experience, many small missteps to make better experience.

Ambank Online FD 4% 2 month.
Usually when i open a bank account, i will always try to make it joint account in case shit hit the fan. As with Ambank , i open a joint account and got a debit card in my name, thinking that its still a joint account. So instead of placing the FDs otc which involves travelling to the bank, i did it online. The issues is the amount is much larger whereas fpx limit is restricted to RM50k per day, so i transfered some to my wife account and did the fpx from both our account. When placing the fds online, i did read that it must from the same name as the fds, but imaging mine to be joint account, tried it anyway for learning purposes. True to expectations, the status went to " pending review" and the reject notification came the next day. It will be a few days for the fund  to return barring any hiccups. So plus 1 for new experiences this year 2023.

Should make a Will and a list of all your accounts and password to your beneficiary.

Its not so simple. Accounts are quite fluid nowadays and liquidity will be easier.
*
What so hard? Will mentioned all your bank accounts cash, stocks, whatever goes to who and who.

Just need AC no and password to be kept safe for your beneficiary. Inside how much doesn't matter. You can then take the probate letter to any banks and ask for the money to be transferred.

Nvm, I found the RHB offer. Need to log in to see.

One question to all sifus:

"Upon maturity, the e-CMDi/e-FD placement amount together with the profit/ interest earned shall be automatically renewed to an ordinary Comodity Murabahah Deposit-i (“CMD-i”) / Fixed Deposit (“FD”) with the same tenure at the prevailing board rate as per published in RHB Group website."

Unlike my experience with MBB and Affin which clearly state that at maturity the principal and interest earned will be deposited back into my savings account, how will it work in this case? I must manually "cancel" the FD placement is it? If so, any troubles with that? I'd have much preferred if it was auto, but if manual, anything to be aware of? If it starts renewing to another term, will I incur any penalty for "cancelling" it?
*
Yes, RHB is jalat. I can't remember it's Term Deposit or FD but it's always Maturity+1 day only can uplift. So remember this. As for auto renewal, it's pretty common. Most bank wants you to forget and then auto renew for you at low board rates. Just keep a record of all your FDs and maturity dates.
