just don't like to pay for something that i don't use every year la i think many of us here feel the same. i cancel whatever card that can be canceled after creating online account i now only keep scb card in my wallet which can withdraw money from any bank atm foc. also online transfer between banks is so easy nowadays

have been to ocbc inquiring about the maxsure2 product. it's not so straightforward as only depositing the money for the 3.9% return. it also requires monthly deposit of certain amount of money for 5 years etc..

didn't know they can be this mean but i did ask them how come the brochure doesn't mention about these things and they just said ya it works this way.. will give them a call next working day to clarify

exactly what happened to me went to the bank for help they told me the paper type virtual card which i used to open online banking can't be used for registering affinsecure. so they gave me an islamic debit card which is free without changing my saving account but i had to go to the bank 3 times

it depends on branch i think. was at kuching satok branch to place the fd yesterday, was told the promo ends today. it's for existing customers and just need to top up min rm1k if renew. also can't give instruction to transfer principal into saving account upon maturity, need to go to bank to withdraw.. as for free gift (tuala), it's out of stock and they will call once got

just to update here on my hong leong tia-i investment which i placed 6 months ago and matured yesterday. i did get the potentially max 4.25%pa profit as advertised

my hong leong online islamic term investments matured few days ago and i did get the advertised max returns ie 2.5% so i re-invested all back for another 3 and 6 months terms at 2.4%.

(they block me for viewing my saving account because i do not want to renew my debit card, but i can still view using the app)

can't get rid of that debit card expiry reminder window and can't do anything except to click on the "renew now" or close the whole browser tab

i tried to insist for free debit card at rhb when opening the smart saver account, the customer service then showed me the statements from bank negara on the basic saving account without any fee. it seems that from the statements, this type of account does not have any other features than basic banking transaction. that means it doesn't come with internet banking facility! i couldn't argue more after seeing this and had to take the non-free debit card in order to have the internet banking facility. but luckily they have the joy@work program which waives the annual fee for me. but from my experience, other banks do have internet facility for basic saving accounts.

my plan was to open a basic saving account with free debit card then open the smart saver account. ya i have many saving accounts with free debit cards and internet access too, guess different banks have different practices but if follow strictly the guidelines of bank negara i think they have the right not to give internet access for basic account.

i renewed my fd at mbsb yesterday at 2.5% for 18month term. they also have 2.4% for 12month, 2.45% for 15month, 2.55% for 24month etc. these are rates upon request. i asked whether it's branch specific he said it's nation wide. i didn't top up for the renewal. interest is upon maturity.

not bad rates, shall place one upon my next maturity

may i know the ws no and email addr that u used? i called the cc and talked to the branch (kuching) yesterday, both said have to go to branch for renewal with promotional rates.

as mentioned earlier, my branch said the same. maybe they are not informed of this practice for fmco. anyway i will go to other branch later as they say can renew at other branch and this branch has shorter queue. don't wanna waste another day interest..

just to update on this.

waited for almost two hours at the other branch yesterday but was told that fd more than rm50k can't be renewed at other branch! i then showed them some of the forumers here managed to renew with ws and email. after talking to the boss, i was given the contact no of my home branch. with high hope i happily ws my branch about the renewal off-counter but was again turned down this morning! in the end i got it renewed at my branch with immediate service upon arrival and with the maturity back dated.

the highest 6m at the moment is 2.50% (effective rate) at mbsb, i just placed one last week.

Just checked, rhb 6m 2.5% no more. They have 2.5% for 9m now. So placed another one at mbsb @2.5% effective rate for 6m for my matured br fd.
